"We got my brother in Golden Livingcenter because it is VA approved. We do like it really well. He has been there going on three months. I think they are very caring and very attentive. They like him. They show attention where attention needs to be. The only issue I have against them is the laundry. When the laundry comes back, it is not the right laundry most of the time. Otherwise, my brother likes it there. The food is good. The main thing is, it is a very clean nursing home. Regarding activities, they have times where they have crafts, times where they have people come in and sing, they have ministry on Sunday and a bingo day on Monday. Like Thanksgiving, they had an awesome day for everyone to come. On Christmas, they just had family come in and had personal time with cookies. "

"My mother-in-law is at Aspire of Jonesburg. We chose them mainly because it's the only place that has an opening that can do her care. She needs 100% max care. They're rolling her over, they're taking her to the bathroom, they're doing everything. The staff there are good, nice, and patient. They always answer questions when I have any. The facility is an older building. It doesn't look pretty by any means, but the care has been really good. My mother-in-law says the food is gross, but she doesn't like anybody's food. There is a calendar of activities on my mother-in-law's door of all the different activities, and there's something every night. Her room looks like a college room. You walk in and you have a bed, a TV, and dressers. It's got its own bathroom. No kitchen. It's just a bedroom."

"My mother is in Warrenton Manor for rehab. I don't like the food they serve the residents, but other than that, they take pretty good care of her. She seems pretty happy there, and she hasn't complained. Of course they don't give them any salt and seasoning on the food. We brought her home for Christmas dinner and brought her back. Theyre wonderful, attentive people. My mother is cared for and has a wonderful therapist that comes in several times a day. Her biggest complaint is that, "My eggs are cold, and the food is either cold or tepid." She can't remember anything but she remembers that. I understand the food has to be bland because of all the dietary restrictions, but at least they could get it out hot. That's the only problem I had with them. The amenities seem fine for what's going on there and the state of these people. The things I was concerned with in the beginning I understand now why they do it. They bring out some people and have them lay on these wonderful beds. They're stroke victims or high-risk so they can keep an eye on them closer. If they can't answer your question, they go run for help and find somebody to answer everything, or they give you a phone number to contact. The level or the quality of care is there, I have no problem with that. My mother had a roommate before, and they couldn't have picked a better roommate for her. I thought, "Wow, they even think of that." That was really sweet for them to pick someone and be a companion and talk to my mother so she is not just sitting there and being sullen. I really appreciate that. They have a calendar that they put out. They have manicures and hair cuts at the beauty parlor every week, which my mother enjoyed because the girls cut her hair really well. They have activities every day, like church service, carolers coming in, visiting little kids, and all different things. They have little shops, play bingo and games, and get fake dollars that they can use at their store. They also have a beautiful front lounge with a big TV and beautiful lounge chairs. They have a big beautiful piano and bring people in to play. When I was there I saw a resident who just finished playing, even though she may not remember that she used to play, she seemed real happy about it. You can come through the front door, or through a side door depending on the time of the day. They are very nice people who are very kind to their residents and try very hard. They do everything they can."

"My mother has been there since June 2021. She has the best care. The nurses are very friendly and helpful. Some of the nurses I have known for years. Others I have not, but couldn’t ask for better care. Mom just sits in her room, they come get her to do activities and socialize. The residents are very good to each other, they visit with each other. They all seem very happy. The administration is also very caring. They always have time for you when you have a question. Kathy the one that does insurance is very helper trying to get insurance going. We have been told there is a nursing home in Mexico that is cheaper but I couldn’t see mom everyday. The cleaning staff is very good also. They visit with the residents make sure they don’t need anything. Laundry they are on top of it. They send it off in morning and it’s back by evening . "

"After having BIG problems with another nursing home, I set out to find a place for my father where he would be cared for properly and not just drugged-up and put in the corner. I visited many facilities in the Jefferson City-Fulton area and was most favorably impressed from my first inspection of this facility until the end of Dad's life. There are so many stories I could relate of the excellent care that he received that it would be easy to fill a book. While looking at nursing homes, I tried to be very observant in trying to determine if the residents were clean, happy, well cared for, drugged-up, etc. as well as looking at the staff to see if they looked as if they looked overworked (so many looked frazzled by noon in other nursing homes) and how they were interacting with the residents. This place, while not being the newest facility I reviewed, was clean, in good repair, and the staff appeared to be taking good care of their charges. I was impressed by the menu, and remember being told how one old lady loved cheeseburgers"”so she got one for lunch every time she asked. I found a number of innovations in this facility that I didn't notice elsewhere. I told my brothers about my findings and we decided to move Dad immediately. Remembering the conditions at the former nursing home where he was a resident, after checking him in, my inspections continued. Sometimes I'd visit in the mornings, sometimes in the afternoon, late at night, and on the weekends. Not once was I disappointed. When we checked Dad in, the administrator asked about his favorite foods, clothes, what he liked to do, etc. She asked about our concerns and answered many questions and the communication remained excellent throughout his stay. There are so many things I could relate here"”and all positive. They took him outside when he wanted, brought him his favorite snacks, and cared for him like he was family. His clothes were always clean and weren't constantly becoming "lost" (stolen) like they were at the other place. He was always clean, shaved, teeth brushed, hair combed, and usually wearing his favorite hat. He told me once that "This is a pretty nice hotel." And I sincerely think he was "at home". I highly recommend Fulton Nursing and Rehab. In my opinion, what they did for my father was way beyond what my brothers or I had expected. "

"After my father broke his hip he went to the Golden Living for rehabilitation and physical therapy. The PT staff was very professional and knowledgable. My father who was 89 years of age was able to walk again with the aid of a walker. The facility was clean and the residents were well cared for. Golden Living was small and provided a homey atmosphere for the residents. "

"My mom is in Lincoln County Nursing & Rehab for short-term care. She's there for rehab. So far, they've kept in contact with me about things going on, her physician check ups, and the physician that visits the place used to be our primary physician. They do have in-house activities. Most of the meals are provided, and if they want snacks, soda, or something, they use vending machines, and we have a small account set up for that. They're probably the second worst rating in the state. They seemed to have treated her well, and they have been open with their information with me, and I'm very pleased with that. They've had an employee that tested positive with Covid, they tested all the patients next morning, and they called me with results immediately, and I'm pleased with that."

"Golden Living is an older facility in the rural community of Mexico, Missouri. They provide a wide range of treatment and living arrangements for elderly, sick and disabled patients. In general, the staff are well trained and attentive to the residents. I have noticed examples of employees going beyond the call of duty to assist with patient or family needs. For example, the kitchen staff made a special breakfast for me when I was there very early in the morning on business for my father who was a resident at the time. However, there is always a turnover of employees and sometimes new staff are not as aware of their duties and how to best assist patients and family. In my opinion, this facility is excellent for the time-limited patient but would not be my first choice for long-term care. "

"The care, love, and attention given to my husband mother, Dona, was amazing at Troy Manor. The food and selections were delicious. We even enjoyed a few meals with her just to taste them. Every staff member we ever saw or encountered was always working hard and we realize it's a hard and thankless job for most of the employees at a skilled nursing facility. We want to thank everyone at Troy Manor for the care they extend to those who need it most."

"We got a tour of New Haven Care Center and we are on their waiting list. We were looking for nursing home care. My mother-in-law needs showers, getting to bed, and she's pretty well wheelchair-bound. When we walked in, I just felt like it was very welcoming and warm. We met with a woman named Teresa, she gave us a thorough walk-through with lots of explanations, and she answered all of the questions that we had for her. She let us know that 94% is the capacity but it was much, much smaller than that due to lack of being able to find employees. Everything just seemed clean, everyone was friendly, and I just had a very good feeling there. I was just very disappointed knowing that there were 28 people in front of my mother-in-law on the waiting list but Teresa said it may not be that many because some people are signed up strictly for rehabilitation and they've probably chosen someplace else at this point. I thought I would give her a call back in a couple of weeks. She said that if it did come to the point where it looked like there would be a spot for my mother-in-law, then she would have to do the paperwork for her. I would just call the rooms a typical nursing-home room where all the beds were hospital beds. That was nice because they had the lifting and lowering accessibility instead of the beds where she is now, where they're only regular twin beds. It looked like everything was well taken care of there and I know they got some choices on their food, which sounded nice. She also showed us the dining area. When it gets to the point where it's a possibility for us then we will spend more time out there. I think that is still the place where we would like for my mother-in-law to go. I was very impressed with Teresa. She didn't act like we were bothering her, and she took special time to show us the entire facility. I felt like she was a very caring person and was in the right job."

"I have never seen a nursing home so poorly run. The facility seems in disarray all the time. I have been there when resident room lights were going off and no one ever answers it. The nursing station looks more like a meeting room. The nurses and aides are hanging around when lights are on and no one pays attention to it. This has been brought to the attention of the Director of Nurses and the Administrator and have had no results. The person I go to see at the home is very unhappy therer. This is not a nursing home that you would want your family or friends at, believe me. C.Baker "
