The Best Communities in Adams County, IL

"I have had two grandmothers live at St. Vincent's. Both times my family and I have been very happy with their care. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly and competent, and they provide many activities for the residents. I have eaten here before and the food was decent. It was nothing spectacular but it also wasn't disgusting. Neither one of my grandmothers had any complaints about the staff, facilities, or food. My only complaints are the following: first, it's rather small. I would imagine that this is both a good and bad thing. It's good because it lets the nurses, CNAs, and other workers spend more one-on-one time with the residents. It could be bad in case there was a waiting list to get accepted into the facility. Also, the building is old and dated. It is not nearly as flashy or modern as some other nursing or independent care homes in the area. Overall, I would definitely recommend this nursing home. "

"My grandma is very happy here. The nurses seem to be very happy to work there. They take care of my grandma very well, and it is a very clean place. I have been to bad assisted living places, that you can tell the staff is there for a job, but at Good Samartain, you can tell the people are there because they care. "

"Sunset Home was very pleasant. The woman who gave me the tour was very nice. She showed me different-sized rooms and introduced me to a couple of residents. She was very helpful, polite, and very pleasant. The apartments were a nice size and they have big windows, so they were nice and bright. So, it just looked beautiful. The dining area was very nice. They have a big table for everybody. They don't have very many people there though. There were some ladies playing bridge while we were touring the place and then they have a nice patio that you could go out on. They had chairs out there that you could sit at in the summer."

"My husband has been at North Adams Home. The facility's cleanliness wasn’t that bad, and it felt homey to me. The staff were wonderful, but they were just understaffed at that time. They took forever to get to their patients. "

"I visited Beth Haven Retirement Community, it's fairly new, and pretty nice. They have a nice dining area, and they offer three meals a day. They also have a nice variety of food and you don't have to stick to one menu. It's in a nice and spacious area, they have plenty of ground and stuff. However, we didn't go to this place because of the price. They also have plenty of rooms for activities."

"This facility has caring staff who work hard to ensure each patient is well taken care of. My grandmother was there in 2007-08 and my mother is there now. I truly appreciate the loving Christian care they both have received. "
