"My husband was in Bickford of Burlington for around two months. I was satisfied with it, but it was an hour away. They had a challenge on their hands because he didn't want to be there and that was his first out-of-home placement. He wasn't very cooperative and had a lot of behavior issues, and they handled it very well. We're in communication with his primary care doctor who came up with a good care plan, and they came up with some recommendations from the doctor. So they did a good job with it. They sent me pictures of him participating in activities. The weather was nicer, so he would go for walks around the building. It was very nice, very well decorated."

"The visit to The Kensington - Fort Madison was phenomenal. The staff was really nice. Our contact there was very helpful. We've talked to a few of the people that were on the memory care floor. They showed us one of the rooms that they have there for my dad. We went through the different services there. They have a really nice walkout deck there on the second floor, so you can get some fresh air, and it's secure. Everybody on the staff was phenomenal, from the nurses to the cleaning ladies, all the staff that we've run into and the people living on the floor there. It's a topnotch facility. We were really impressed with it. Everything was well kept, and outside of the facility was well taken care of. We want to make sure that my dad's physical therapy and speech therapy can be done there, and they said sure, no problem. Everybody down there has been really supportive. The staff who toured us was really phenomenal. She actually worked the memory unit for close to 20 years. She is really proud of what they're doing. You have a lot of tenured people there that know what to do and how to handle the situation and take care of the elderly. The staff was really helpful, especially with my mom walking us through the process. They also offer a thing for spouses and families to come in and have a meal for like $7.50 a meal, like my mom could go down there and have dinner or lunch with him. Everything is well groomed. Every one of the rooms is open to the people living there. I didn't see any dust or trash or anything on the floor. Everything is kept up topnotch."

"Everybody was friendly, and Legacy seemed like a good fit. Actually their menu was probably about as good as anywhere we went as far as selection and everything goes. They had trips and so forth, which my mom hasn't been there long enough to go on, but they have some good things planned -- interesting things from around the area -- so that they do have things and various things on-site -- reading groups, trips to the library, bible study groups, and that kind of thing. I visited a number of them, and this was the one that had an available space and met our needs, and when we needed to make the move, we took it. It wasn't that it was a last choice; it was actually among three choices, and it was available, it was a good fit, so this is where we went. "

"My husband moved into Courtyard Estates of Monmouth. I think it's fine. Everybody seems friendly. They seem to be very congenial and very polite. They're knowledgeable. Everybody has been very nice, very helpful, and trying to meet his needs. I stayed with him for lunch one day and heard other residents praise the staff and the food. They all liked it. I did notice on their menu that their desserts are diabetic-type desserts, not full of calories. They post every day about what's gonna happen. It's like a calendar where they have what's going on every day of the month, and the activities are listed there. They have a library. I saw the books. And I know they have an area where they have storage, games, and things that they can pull out and get. I know they play bingo and they do exercise time."

"My parents are in Rosebush Gardens Assisted Living and they are very happy there. Even though my dad is resistant, he really likes it there. I think the staff is very caring, very friendly and everything has been just great. Actually, the reason why we choose Rosebush is because the apartments are larger than the other two we visited, and they are kept very clean and are in very good condition. I have one meal there, but my dad never misses the meal. He likes the cooking and he is gaining weight actually. "
