"I've been very pleased with St. Francis Woods. My mom loves it there. I've always found all of the nurses, CNAs, and all of the employees to be very friendly and always very caring for the residents. I've always heard them speaking very nicely, polite, and kind to them. Adrianne in particular, I dealt with her a lot, nothing major, some concerns of mom, and Adrienne was absolutely wonderful. She's wonderful dealing with the relatives of the residents, and she's fantastic with the residents themselves. Every 90 days they have a care meeting, where its family members and the resident, and Adrienne discuss any issues and concerns, which I think is great. I couldn't be more pleased with her there. I don't worry about her there. When she was living by herself and I couldn't get her on the phone I'd panicked and be in the car on the way to her house. Now, if I don't get her, it's either she's talking with someone or she's in the bathroom. I really don't get that concerned right away because they're always checking on them. Her medicine is always delivered on time. I also know Adrienne does routine little checks, pushing the little button call to see how long it takes the CNA to get there. I think it's a very nice facility. Mom loves it and she's happy there. I'm happy that she's there. I think the food looks great. During our 90-day meetings, Adrienne has always said, on days when something is served that residents don't like, they have an alternate menu. They can always ask for egg salad, or peanut butter and jelly, or grilled cheese, so they are never limited to something they don't like. I know my mom doesn't like fish, so I know on fish days she can ask for grilled cheese or something else. With what mom gets it's the most economical. I had searched probably 6 or 8 other ones in the Peoria area, and this one just stood out for me right away."

"Wonderful caring place to live. My husband and I stayed for a week with my mother a resident at Lutheran Hillside Village. I walked all over the halls and the different floors. Everything was spotless and brightly lite. Nothing will be perfect but we found this place for seniors far superior to most others. "

"My father is still in rehab at Apostolic Christian Skylines. They have other levels of care, and they have assisted living as well. COVID has put everybody in a different situation, but they are trying very hard to accommodate families so they can visit given the safety guidelines. They are very quick to call me if there are any changes in my dad's condition or care, and having frequent care meetings is very helpful. The staff is friendly, helpful, and caring. My dad has to have a puréed diet, so he's not eating exactly regular food, but he has no complaints. He's fine with it. His room is clean but fairly plain. He's very fortunate because the windows in his room overlook a courtyard that has beautiful plants and flowers, and that part is wonderful. We could decorate it, but I'm not going to do that because I don't know if he's going to stay. They just installed all-new carpet in their activity room. I haven't been in it, but I'm sure it's lovely. I hope that they will do a little something with the rooms. There are different wings and different hallways. When you go into the entryway, there is a front desk, and then there are stairs or an elevator to go up to the second floor. The community or activity room is upstairs, the different hallways go off of that, and the dining room is upstairs off of the community room or activity room. They could update the rooms a little bit."

"My brother is at Liberty Village of Peoria. It has a basic layout for the skilled nursing facility. It has long hallways with individual rooms, which look like you're in a hotel. The rooms are quite big. In the skilled nursing area, there are 2 people in a room, but each room is 32 feet long by 16 feet wide. So, it gives each resident a little bit of space on his own. Their rehab facility seems very well educated and most of the people there are kind and caring. They seem to have fun with the residents. Those who need help feeding themselves seem to be taken care of. I've been going out there almost every day and I go out at lunchtime, so the food looks pretty good. I haven't sampled it, but I watch most of the residents eat and they seem to be enjoying themselves. The desserts look especially good. My brother mingles with the people who can go down to the lounge, and they have little activities there like games, but there was not a lot to do on the skilled nursing side."

"My grandmother has moved into the Grande Regency of Peoria. It's a very good facility. They have nice apartments. They've got a 24-hour on-call nurse. They have maintenance staff that can do quite a bit of stuff for you, and they have a bistro-style lunch, dinner, and breakfast that my grandmother's been loving. She's kind of in between assisted living and independent living. She needs some assistance, but she doesn't need a lot yet. We picked this one because they have those different levels of care and the on-call nurse thing. Their nurses can assist with any of the normal daily activities that you need help with. It works out well. They can assist with putting shoes on. My grandmother doesn't need that, but she does need assistance with cleaning and things, and they have housekeeping and they do laundry. They come in and do laundry once a week. They take your trash out for you every day, and they come in once a week to do cleaning for you as well. We were able to see quite a bit of what they have there, as well as what they have in the way of amenities there without intruding on other people's care and time, and personal information. We were able to see the lunchroom area. They have nutritionists and chefs on staff. They have housekeeping, laundry, a spa room, and they have a podiatrist every once a month to do foot care and nails if you can't do your toenails. They have a lot of stuff in the building. However, they do have to use elevators to get to the different levels for things, which is understandable. They took an older building and renovated it and turned it into an assisted living facility. It used to be a German restaurant at one point and a hotel. It's all got the original woodwork from that, too. They worked with my grandmother a lot to get her in there as quickly as they could. She likes their cooking, so I would say their food is good. She has not participated in activities yet because they do have a two-week quarantine period if you haven't had the vaccine. They work with Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. They have a program where if you can get qualified through Medicaid, with it, your income dictates how much you pay in rent. They take most of your Social Security money. They leave you with $90 of spending money a month. We're not paying out-of-pocket for her to be living there, and she still has the money to be able to spend on herself. They had some residents on the level that she was on, which had oxygen in the room. Because they have nurses on staff, they do quite a bit in the way of care and they can handle quite a bit. I'm thinking that once it gets to the point where you're bedridden and you can't get up and do some of the things, then it's where they would probably have to have you move into a nursing home. If you can still do some things for yourself, then they work with you."

"My dad is at Serenity Assisted Living & Royce Elliot Memory Care. It’s new, and bright, with big rooms. He has a 1-bedroom apartment, and he likes it. He likes the food. He stays in his room and reads a lot. The staff is very friendly."

"Saxony Court Senior Living was a nice place. There was somebody sitting at a desk, so it was secure. The rooms were nice. They're in the middle of redoing a bunch of them, but the one they showed us looked good. The woman that gave us the tour was very helpful. When she would see one of the residents, she knew their first names, talked to them, and asked them how they were doing. So she was very polite and they got good people. The dining area was nice, too. It sounds like they had a lot of stuff going on, and they can choose to participate or not."

"We did an in-person tour at Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections East Peoria. We liked it. It was bright and airy. The staff was really knowledgeable and very friendly. It seems like they have all the facilities and amenities that you could ask for. Everything is pretty much covered. They have the rooms and the dining hall. They have a physical therapy room, laundry service, and beauty salon. It's like a little self-contained community. They seemed to have an answer for every question that we had. The person who showed me around was very nice, very friendly, and very knowledgeable about the services they provide. When we first got there, the lobby and everything was nice, but just being first-time people there, it was a little confusing as to where we were going. However, it seemed like it was set up well, it's just that you have to be a little bit more familiar with it to know where you're going. The rooms were nice. The facility was nice and bright. They would be a 4, but the only thing is that the layout at first is confusing."

"My friend's mom lives in Washington Villas of Hollybrook. Their staff seems very nice and very helpful, but I know she complains that they seem to have a fairly high turnover, like they have a lot of different staff. Her mom is not real happy about that, because as soon as she gets into a relationship with some staff members or learns their names, they leave. Then they asked the residents, "Get to know somebody else." Other than that, it seems to be a very nice place, and the staff seems very nice. The buildings are like little apartments. There's a little living room, and a little area for dining with a little dinette table. It's also got a small kitchenette, a refrigerator, sink, microwave, counter tops, a large bathroom, and a large bedroom with a nice big walk-in closet. One day, we went down to have cheeseburgers at their little diner, and it was very good."

"We are on the waiting list right now at Morton Villas of Holly Brookand. It was very clean and everyone was very nice and helpful. There was so much for my in-laws to do as far as activities. We did not eat the food but the place looked really clean and I asked some of the residents and they said the food was not bad. The staff were very kind, helpful, and friendly. They seemed to really care about their job. They have a salon and they have a 1950s diner that is so cool that they could eat in. They said they hold church services every week, they have a coffee bar that is really cool, and a movie theater that is really nice."

"My mother has been a resident at Snyder Village Assisted Living for 7 years. She has been treated with kindness and love. Granted there are times when the daily services do not meet with her approval, but for the most part all is good. The facility is clean. The caregivers are kind. The administrators are thoughtful. I would recommend Snyder to anyone who asks. "

"My mom will move into John M. Evans Supportive Living. They have very friendly staff, and are very welcoming. I did two tours there. I really liked the actual room arrangement. It was very large, and to her, it would be more homey, like she's living in her own apartment, which was my big thing. It's a two-level thing, but they have elevators. They have people who come in and do their laundry and clean their rooms once a week. During the time that I was there, they were eating lunch, and it smelled very good. They have a menu on the side, right before you go into the dining room. If you don't want what's on the menu that day, they have an a la carte option that they can make for you. So you have two choices, and that's for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have an outdoor. They can go outside. They have a little walk around that they can do. They have a little back gazebo and chairs out back where they can go out and sit in the sun if they want to. They have activities, and they get a little money thing so they can win prizes or buy stuff. They've got a little store, and they can buy stuff out of it. It was under a little bit of construction, but other than that, everything was clean: the bathrooms, the hallways, and everything."
