The Best Assisted Living Communities in Mclean County, IL

"This is a new facility to the community, about five to seven years in service. It is affiliated with my Mother In-Law's church, though anyone can reside there. There are three levels of living, Independent Living, Assisted Living, which my Mother In-Law is in, and Full Time Nursing Care. The staff are very kind and knowledgeable. It seems like most every staff member knows every resident. It is clean and brightly lite. They cater to every need the residents have that is within reason. Residents can have three meals a day in lovely dining areas (plus private banquet rooms if family comes to visit). The food is top notch. Plus they provide residents cleaning services if needed. We have recommended this facility to our friends parents, who now live there. It is a wonderful place where you know your loved ones will be safe and well taken care of. "

"The best thing about Bloomington Fox Creek Villas and Reflections is that it's new and very fresh-looking. There's nothing I didn't like about it. I toured their independent living. The employees are very professional and very courteous. The facility has a lot of lounging areas and a nice view wherever your apartment is. It's very clean and has a nice layout. It's a nice open area but I'm sure eventually all that's going to be filled up with housing and everything else. It's a nice kind of location."

"I liked Evergreen Village Supportive Living, and it accepts Medicaid patients. They were very friendly, answered all of my questions, and were very patient with us. They showed us the studio room and they showed us another room, that's the small apartment with a separate bedroom. They showed us the dining room and the options she has with my mom's meals and hair, and even manicures and transportation to doctors' visits and things like that. First of all, it smelled good. It didn't smell like urine, like nursing homes do. It seemed clean. It did have a little library area. It did have a place where people can gather to play cards, or to have a church fellowship."

"I toured Bloomington Towanda Barnes Villas and Reflections. They had memory care; I saw a studio that would be in the memory care area. We had a good look at everything. The person who accommodated us was really helpful and really nice. My daughter and I saw a two-bedroom. They were moving out, and somebody else was supposed to move in, so we didn't get to see it very well with all the stuff around. We also saw a one-bedroom and a studio. I liked what we saw. It was very pleasant, and it was very clean. The staff was very helpful, very sweet to us, and any of the staff that we met in the hall were very kind too. They had a fitness room that only had one machine in there, and they had a beauty shop. I liked the fact that they had an area where you could go out and get coffee, ice cream, and hot dogs (although the machine had broken down and they were waiting for parts)."

"I visited Meadows Mennonite Home's skilled nursing but for memory care. Overall, it is very good. It's a little dated, but they have a newer part. The staff members that I interacted with seemed very nice. They have sitting areas, one outside and one inside. The beds were like hospital beds, but the residents can set the room and decorate it up how they want to. They also take Medicaid."

"We have just moved my mom into Hopedale Commons (East). Everything was very positive. The room is very nice. It has just been remodeled. New bathroom cabinets and countertops. Everything had been painted. I like the vinyl floor more than the old carpeting that was in some of the units we looked at. This one had been updated and had vinyl flooring, which works better for walkers and chairs. Everything was good with the unit. I asked my mom how the food was and she said the food was good. The staff were very responsive and answered all the questions when we were looking at it. I saw some card games going on and a lot of people exercising in the hallways, like walking laps. Everything has been updated, well kept, and clean. The exterior was well-kept. It looks like they have some group things. I looked at assisted living, they have movies and trips and stuff like that, but with independent living, everyone can still have a car or has their family can come and pick them up and such. It was very reasonable for what we looked at out there. They have assisted living right in the building next door, so if that progressed that was available to my mom also. "

"We looked at Villas of Holly Brook. It was very good. We walked through the facility. The staff showed us everything and explained everything. It met all our expectations on that. They had more activities, but the folks there were a little more restricted than independent living. They still had trips, they took them to the local stores, and they took them to the different things and they had movie nights and things like that, but they're a lot more structured events for them. The facility was very nice, and the layout was nice. Everything was there. I didn't see as many people. I think those people are a little bit more homebound than independent. It looked to be newer. They had like a 1950-style diner in there for lunch and early meals. They had two different dining areas. The rooms were very clean and a little smaller than the one my mom ended up with at the other place. But for what one needed, they were more than ample, clean, and well kept. The staff were all friendly and cooperative. The facilities were a little bit more modern and newer. "

"We ended up putting my dad in Washington Villas of Holly Brook. He has only been there for a week, but I think it is a perfect fit for him. He loves it. The staff is great. I love Angela, the director. She is great. They are on top of things. If he has to have an appointment made, they make it and refill prescriptions. They are very good. The have an activities director and a card group. "

"My mother has been a resident at Snyder Village Assisted Living for 7 years. She has been treated with kindness and love. Granted there are times when the daily services do not meet with her approval, but for the most part all is good. The facility is clean. The caregivers are kind. The administrators are thoughtful. I would recommend Snyder to anyone who asks. "
