My husband was in Bickford of Burlington for around two months. I was satisfied with it, but it was an hour away. They had a challenge on their hands because he didn't want to be there and that was his first out-of-home placement. He wasn't very cooperative and had a lot of behavior issues, and they handled it very well. We're in communication with his primary care doctor who came up with a good care plan, and they came up with some recommendations from the doctor. So they did a good job with it. They sent me pictures of him participating in activities. The weather was nicer, so he would go for walks around the building. It was very nice, very well decorated.

I've visited the Bickford of Burlington. It was a very nice looking facility, it's quite large and they're very clean. It's almost the kind of place that I'd go to if I ever had to have assisted living. The staff who gave the tour was very professional and very helpful. It didn't feel like I was imposing upon them when I was there. They offered a meal, but we did not partake. They had three different room sizes. They had an outdoor court that was enclosed, but it was outdoors. So it's a place where you can go outside and have coffee in the morning. What impressed me was that they have a little room with a big glass front, and they had birds in it. It was very interesting. The dining facilities looked very nice, and the public areas were spacious and very neat.

I put a downpayment on Bickford of Burlington. It was so homey. I know it's a good fit for my mom and it was small enough and they do memory care, so I truly believe that this is the right place for her. They're going to accept her dog, so that's huge. I think what I enjoy most about is they do not refer to their employees as staff members, they refer to them as the Bickford family and their motto is happiness. Because of the respect that they show toward their employees, it just shines through to the community that's there. Some residents were having a coffee hour and they were delightful. They had a spark. They weren't just sitting around and depressed. They gave me lively conversations. I enjoyed my interactions with the residents that I spoke with. The facility was clean and well kept, and when you walk in, it's like walking into your mom's living room. The courtyards were beautiful, the flowers, the front porch. It's not institutionalized; it's a very homey feeling. The units were like little apartments. They have a certain amount of privacy and you get to decorate it any way you want, so you can feel at home within your unit, but then even outside of that unit, there's such a homely feeling. The staff that I met, just the overall feel of the place, the cleanliness of it, and their willingness to work with me being the care provider of my mother's and understanding the emotional side of this when you make a decision like this, I couldn't have asked for more caring and kindness as I talk through things with them. I felt like there was a bond there immediately, that I could come to them with any concerns for my mom going forward. I appreciated that. There's a sense of family there that I can't explain. It's a nice feeling to have knowing that your mom's going to be part of that. The residents were delightful. Everyone's very well kept, hairs were done, just like you were going out for coffee somewhere. These ladies are sitting around the table and very interactive, having fun, and they had a lot of questions. They were asking me about my mother and they were excited to know that someone new was coming in, that they were going to get to know. You could tell they were enjoying where they were at and their surroundings and that means everything. The fact that my mom, her beloved dog, is going to be able to be with her, I think will make the transition so much easier, knowing that she gets to have Hayley with her. They recognize that need for companionship. Not every place does that, and that's very unique as well. I know everything is made from scratch there, and they offered us some scones that they have just specially baked. They do a really good job of providing a variety of food. There are 41 residents there right now. It's not huge, which I like. I feel like that's the right amount of residents to the right amount of staff. I've met with the nurse, some of the attending staff that does activities, and the director, and they were all super and very professional.

We like Bickford of Burlington because the people there were more into the elderly that live there. The staff seems to be more concerning and helpful. The buildings went in a circle, so they had a big backyard with flowers and they could take their dogs out there. The people were very helpful. If they needed help with their dogs, they would help them. Everybody was friendly, it was just a different kind of atmosphere. They were there to help the seniors; you could just tell that right off the bat. I tried a cookie from there and it was good, and I had something to drink.

I enjoyed Bickford of Burlington, but they were costly, and they're private pay, so if Mom would need to be on Medicaid they don't cover that. The staff was very good. It would've been a good place for her to go. They had studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and they had a lot of activities going on. They were pretty big in the decorating. They try to make it look homier as opposed to institutional. They had a courtyard where they could walk in the middle, and they allow pets. The facility was very nice.

My mother is in assisted living at Bickford of Burlington. It's a great place and is one of the better ones in the area. It's nice, the employees are nice, the food is good, and they take care of my mom. It's a safe place and I'm very satisfied with it. They have three different sized rooms and my mom has the middle size room. It's plenty big enough and adequate. They have activities.

We visited Bickford Cottage and I thought the apartments were very nice, but on the small size. I thought they would be great for one person, but we were looking for a place for both of my parents together and we thought it would be too crowded for two people. They had crafts activities, bingo, and that sort of things. We saw some of the ladies, I thought they were playing bingo when we were there. We didn't eat a meal there, but we did see the dining room and the menu. Their dining room was very nice and it looked very comfortable.
