"We visited Senior Star. The staff was super. They were great. They showed us everything that we needed to see and explained everything in detail. We were totally satisfied with the tour. It was very nice. I would not mind living there myself. It had so many different things to offer that the others didn't have. "

"I went to Quartet Senior Living. It was all very nice. The person I met on the tour was very nice. The only thing is with somebody that doesn't have any money, it won't work. But it's a beautiful place if you have savings or a house to sell or a car to put towards that, but she doesn't. But it would be a wonderful place to live. The room would be one where you have to bring your own in. They had a bed and a dresser there, but you have to furnish it yourself. They have a garden area and it's boxed in, so they can't get away. Nobody can leave, but you can see it from all four sides."

"Silvercrest is very open, but the accommodations wasn’t large enough. There’s a fireplace, and a waitress in the cafeteria like in a restaurant. They have hairdresser that my mom is very happy with. She had one-bedroom assisted-living apartment with a kitchenette, and a stove. It also has a microwave, and refrigerator. They had bingo, happy hour, and outings. She really likes it there, but I’m still trying to get accustomed to the girls work; and their assistance. I still have a few things to iron out with them. "

"My mother has been in this facility for three years. I am very happy with the care she receives. I visit my mom daily. If I have a concern, the staff is eager to fix the problem. Her nurses are very caring and concerned about her health, safety, and happiness. Kahl Home offers many opportunities for social interaction. They have an excellent physical therapy department. She came in not walking and was able to walk again. At this time, mom is now confined to a wheelchair because of a stroke. The Kahl Home offers a restorative care exercise program daily. This program accommodates her needs. The staff is alert to indications that a patient might be depressed. They serve three meals a day with daily choices. Mom is usually pleased with the food. The Kahl Home is currently in the process of building a beautiful new facility which will probably open in June, 2012. "

"We visited someone that we knew at Bickford. The people seemed very friendly and very helpful. The facility was very nice. It was smaller than the other one we visited, but I thought for the amount of people that they had there at that time, it was about right. "

"We like Grand Haven. The person who gave the tour was very nice and friendly. She had a folder already that she could give us with information, and she was still able to take us on a tour. I didn't know that that would happen because we were in the area, so we called them on the phone to see if they could give us a folder or let us come in, and they were like, "You can come in and we'll give you a tour," so I was surprised that with COVID and everything, they were very accommodating. The staff showed us a couple of one-bedroom units, one that was furnished, and one that wasn't, they were very nice, and clean, and we were pleasantly pleased with how much space there was. We also saw the dining area. It is not being used because of COVID right now, but the meals are being delivered to the rooms. I also like that it's one level, so it seems kinda a little bit more friendly and homey. Activity wasn't at the top of my list to look for, but I know they have a regular activity area where they can do different things, games, movie nights, and things like. The staff was very nice, very friendly, and helpful, and when we walked through the first time, the place was nice and seemed clean, too."

"Park Vista was pretty nice. The rooms were a little small, but they're OK and clean enough. The staff members were nice. Of course, they're trying to sell the place, but they were good. I didn't see all the facilities. I just went to a couple of rooms and looked. I didn't tour the grounds or go into the kitchen area. There was nobody eating right there because all of the tables were pushed against the wall because of Covid. There were no events going on or anything, so I didn't really get to see a lot of the things that they would do normally for seniors. The dining area was a restaurant type thing."

"The thing that I liked the best about Avonlea was it was a small community and had what I felt would be what we needed. It had a good location, nice property, and nice rooms. The price was good. They had a TV lounge, receiving area, and meals. "

"I am a friend of one of the seniors living in the facility. It seems like a wonderful place to live. The staff is always friendly and helps when needed. I enjoyed coming to the happy hour they have every friday afternoon. The activities and atmosphere of the facility is somewhere I would want to be when I retire! "

"My father-in-law is at Park Vista Retirement Living. I like that they're always there. It's very clean. The food is amazing. It's a restaurant type. They have a main meal, but you can order what you want, even if it's not for that day. You could even order meatloaf and it's a full meal. Then they come back and ask if you want more. The maintenance guy was amazing. He came to help hang up stuff. They made it stress-free to move in. They had carts to help move in and they offered to help. We moved in before we started paying rent, so there was no stress. He moved in on a Thursday, and on Friday, he attended music. They had a guy playing music and was singing there. He went down and had a good time. He keeps talking about that. Everything that they said they offered, they offered. So, they are worth the money for peace of mind, safety, cleanliness, and the ability to be in a community of people, which is very important, but one of the main reasons we picked them is because their nursing staff is there. We checked out all the places that we went but when it came to how many residents there were to how many nursing staff, CNAs, and helpers, Park Vista Retirement Living offered us the most comfort that my father-in-law would be able to get help if he needed it."

"My dad moved into Allure of Geneseo. I liked that you've got somebody that they watch over 24/7. My father was diagnosed with dementia about three years ago, and he can't remember three minutes ago. I do like the care that he received. The staff rotates a lot. I don't see the same person, but I might see them every couple of weeks. Usually, I see different people all the time. The structure is solid and very clean. They clean his apartment almost daily. They've got bingo, arts and crafts. They've got stuff to keep them busy all day. The layout is nice. They've got several emergency exits but there's one door that allows you in and out of that floor. The size of his apartment is beautiful. He's got a bathroom with an area for him to sit down like a sit-down in a shower. He's got a big walk-in closet. He's got a side where we have his bed and a living area. It's a pretty good size."

"The dining area at Lutheran Senior Living was nice, but I wasn't quite as impressed with the rooms. The staff were nice enough, but I had a little bit of a hard time getting them to call me back. Also, there was a light that went off and nobody seemed to be making any attempts to go see what was wrong. Everything looked a lot more like a hospital than an apartment. It was clean, but it just didn't feel warm and homey."
