"I went to Senior Star At Elmore Place. I have three friends there. The staff is wonderful. They know your name in less than a week. They're very attentive. I've eaten there a couple of times, and it's been excellent. I've also seen the studio and the one-bedroom. I don't think I've seen a two-bedroom, but as far as the studio, the one-bedroom, and the general facilities, it is excellent."

"I went to Quartet Senior Living. It was all very nice. The person I met on the tour was very nice. The only thing is with somebody that doesn't have any money, it won't work. But it's a beautiful place if you have savings or a house to sell or a car to put towards that, but she doesn't. But it would be a wonderful place to live. The room would be one where you have to bring your own in. They had a bed and a dresser there, but you have to furnish it yourself. They have a garden area and it's boxed in, so they can't get away. Nobody can leave, but you can see it from all four sides."

"I am a friend of one of the seniors living in the facility. It seems like a wonderful place to live. The staff is always friendly and helps when needed. I enjoyed coming to the happy hour they have every friday afternoon. The activities and atmosphere of the facility is somewhere I would want to be when I retire! "

"I toured Pearl City Place. It was a good facility. James, who gave me the tour, was outstanding, but they had no immediate availability for my needs. I needed it right now, for my mother. The facility is smaller than a couple of the others I've toured. They were okay. In memory care, two people were in a room, but the rooms were much smaller. There was not much room besides a bed and a nightstand. They were cramped, and for most of their memory care, people who were in there were worse off than my mother, so I don't think that would have been appropriate for her. The dining area was nice, but I did not eat the food. It was smaller, and the whole facility was scaled down a bit."

"The people that run Holiday Palmer Hills have been super nice and super easy to work with. They've been excellent. They encouraged mom a lot to make the change a little easier. Her room is nice. I think it's perfect for her needs and she seems to like it. We did a few touch-ups before she moved in and they got that done right away. They helped her out, like getting her cable TV and internet worked. So they've been pretty good so far. She says the food is good. They got a restaurant-style dining area and it seems very clean and nice. They have a calendar of events that she can participate in if she wants to. It's just an older building, but nothing major. As far as the price goes, they've done pretty well and they even worked with us."

"The Kahl Home I feel provides the very best care available. When you are no longer able to continue caring for your loved one, the staff will assist you and believe me, they have the nessary equiptment to do a far better job than what can be done at home. They not only care for your loved one but provide emotional and physical support to the family as well."

"My wife is now at Bickford Senior Living. We chose it because it was close to home, and it’s a nice place. It looked fairly new even if it isn’t. It’s clean and well lit and air conditioned properly. They have a lot of programs every day, although I don’t know specifically what they are. Everything is just good. "

"I am so appreciative of the friendly, caring thoughtfulness of the staff with my 91 year old dad. Every single member of the staff has treated him with respect and love as if he was their dad or grandfather. The patience and dedication the Pt and Ot have with their patients is outstanding. They listen to their patients and the families concern on how to make their stay comfortable and in my dad’s case to get him physically dependent again. Thank you Vista Staff for taking such great care of my dad and rehabbing him to become independent again so he can go back home."

"I am staying at The Fountains. They are very kind to all their residents. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They've been very kind to me while I've been looking around and being very willing to work with me. The meals have improved a lot. They have many activities. I don't participate in a lot because I'm in independent living, but they have them. They have a lot of private parties. They offer a lot of different games. They're very kind about taking people to different locations if they wish to go out to different meals."

"Grand Haven was large and open. The room was big, so Mom could put in her own belongings. She would have her own bathroom, and she could bring in her own bed. The place was very good. They always have activities going on like trips. They would have 3 meals plus snacks. They can have ice cream any time they want, and they can also have any kind of food if they're hungry at any time. It was very good talking with the people there. They were very upbeat and all were saying "hi" to Mom. The residents can also help grow the garden and grow their own vegetables."

"We will be moving to Park Vista Retirement Living North Hill. The tour was good, everybody was nice, the place was very clean, and the apartment that we're getting is really nice. The place itself looks really nice and some parts are pretty fancy. We'll be getting a one-bedroom, and when we move in there the meals will be provided twice a day. They have a beauty shop and barber shop, they have amenities, and all kinds of stuff. They have a place to exercise, a library, and what they call a pub. They have lots of different places and things to do there, so it's just nice. The guy that showed us around was very, very nice, and very accommodating. We get a housekeeper every other week, the utilities are included, and all the meals are included."

"The thing that I liked the best about Avonlea was it was a small community and had what I felt would be what we needed. It had a good location, nice property, and nice rooms. The price was good. They had a TV lounge, receiving area, and meals. "

"I thought the assisted living facility was amazing. The entire building felt very homey and sweet. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I felt like I was in a house rather than some place clinical. They have a big lobby with a fireplace, lots of comfy chairs, and a few radios. The residents seemed to congregate in the lobby's to meet up and talk and they all seemed really comfortable and at home. In the dining area, it felt more like a big dining room instead of a cafeteria. The residents all work with the staff to set the tables for dinner and they get to pick from a small menu that is changed daily. But the best thing about this assisted living home was the staff. They were all very friendly and treated the guests like friends they haven't seen in a while, rather than people they're paid to look after. It was a great experience that I would be happy to have a loved one stay at. "

"My father-in-law is at Park Vista Retirement Living. I like that they're always there. It's very clean. The food is amazing. It's a restaurant type. They have a main meal, but you can order what you want, even if it's not for that day. You could even order meatloaf and it's a full meal. Then they come back and ask if you want more. The maintenance guy was amazing. He came to help hang up stuff. They made it stress-free to move in. They had carts to help move in and they offered to help. We moved in before we started paying rent, so there was no stress. He moved in on a Thursday, and on Friday, he attended music. They had a guy playing music and was singing there. He went down and had a good time. He keeps talking about that. Everything that they said they offered, they offered. So, they are worth the money for peace of mind, safety, cleanliness, and the ability to be in a community of people, which is very important, but one of the main reasons we picked them is because their nursing staff is there. We checked out all the places that we went but when it came to how many residents there were to how many nursing staff, CNAs, and helpers, Park Vista Retirement Living offered us the most comfort that my father-in-law would be able to get help if he needed it."

"My dad moved into Allure of Geneseo. I liked that you've got somebody that they watch over 24/7. My father was diagnosed with dementia about three years ago, and he can't remember three minutes ago. I do like the care that he received. The staff rotates a lot. I don't see the same person, but I might see them every couple of weeks. Usually, I see different people all the time. The structure is solid and very clean. They clean his apartment almost daily. They've got bingo, arts and crafts. They've got stuff to keep them busy all day. The layout is nice. They've got several emergency exits but there's one door that allows you in and out of that floor. The size of his apartment is beautiful. He's got a bathroom with an area for him to sit down like a sit-down in a shower. He's got a big walk-in closet. He's got a side where we have his bed and a living area. It's a pretty good size."

"I have chosen them for my mother. The main thing for us is they seem to care for the residents and the workers seem happy to be there. The other place we toured had different, weird, unique names to it so I don't even know what they are, but here the dishes are simpler and easier to understand. According to my mom, the food is good and a lot better than the other place. The facility is very clean and open. The rooms are bigger than the biggest rooms I've seen in the other facilities that we looked at, and they're nicer and clear. They do plenty of activities but they don't push anybody to do them. They have sewing classes and trips that they take, like for ice cream, to go out to Walmart and they'd go out to eat, once they went for pizza. They're going to start a gardening club if they haven't already, they're always doing parties like recently they had a party for the Kentucky Derby. They make a big deal out of birthdays."

"We chose the Addington Place of Clinton but I don't know if we're gonna stay there because they just raised their rates. Mom's got a studio and it's nice. The people are a little cliquey, but other than that, it seems like a nice place. They go above and beyond to make sure that they're involved. The food is not very good, and they're trying to improve that. Other than that, besides the price increase, they're OK. The staff is great. They go on bus rides. They decorate the pumpkins. They go on Wal-Mart trips and stuff like that. They have a courtyard, a place where you can do puzzles and stuff, and two sitting areas."
