"My husband has been at The Ivy for almost 2 years. The Staff has been Great! He's now Full Assist and The Staff meets his every need! They keep an eye on him 24/7. Even though he can no longer talk, that doesn't matter to The Staff. They treat him with respect & talk with him every time they walk by. I don't know what we would have done without The Ivy's care!"

"My dad was at Genesis Center for rehab. It is in a local hospital. The staff was good. The food is alright, he didn't complain too much. The facility is real nice. There's good beds, TV channels and it's clean.The layout was good. It's just a 1-bedroom and 1-bathroom. They're real good, excellent and the insurance covers it all."

"I'm in Iowa Masonic Health Facilities. The food is good, and they take good care of me. They have a nursing staff. They have lots of nice activities like bingo, crafts, and movies. I'm in skilled nursing, and my room is very nice and they keep it very clean. The staff is very helpful. The atmosphere is friendly."

"We went to Ridgecrest Village. We toured both independent and assisted living. Everything was beautiful. They had a garden area, and they had libraries. There were lots of ladies playing mah-jong. There were some gentlemen playing cards and bingo. Other people were taking a painting class. The apartments were very nice. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. The dining area was beautiful. The only drawback to it is that it's very large and very spread out. There are long halls and a lot of walking. If you're capable of walking, it's fine. It was beautiful, and they had wheelchairs available if you were having issues."

"I had to take my wife to a nursing home, and she was at Hope Creek Care Center for six months. They had one of the better facilities in the area. However, they only had one restroom for the visitors, which was at the entrance of the building. Most of their staff were African-American and some of them were really good. We had one lady that mainly took care of my wife. She was not on Medicare, so she couldn't have therapy there. The only therapy she received was restorative care, and with the problems she had with the dementia, she had her hands curled up and couldn't open them because it hurt her to open her fingers. They worked with that, and they worked her arms a little bit. The rooms were adequate. She had a bed that went up and down. They had all the facilities that you need there. My wife was incontinent, so she wore Depends, and they changed her Depends all day. "

"We really liked Davenport Lutheran Home for our mother; it was our first choice. We had to be on a waiting list for almost a year, and we finally got in. It was well-kept and well-staffed. It was recommended to us and that’s where we went. They play cards, bingo, exercises, and church activities."

"My mom was at Rosewood. We chose this place because it was a 4-star facility. Also we had had several other family members and friends that went there for rehab. They have very good referrals. The room was very nice. They had a lot of social activities. They had a full calendar of bingo, dance lessons, and live entertainment. It was quite a facility. Their work attitude was very good, but it was hard to say because my mom was there for 24 hours, so I was only there 6 hours of that day. However, the atmosphere was very good, and it was very comfortable. "

Her nurses are very caring and concerned about her health, safety, and happiness. Kahl Home offers many opportunities for social interaction. They have an excellent physical therapy department. She came in not walking and was able to walk again. At this time, mom is now confined to a wheelchair because of a stroke. The Kahl Home offers a restorative care exercise program daily. This program accommodates her needs. The staff is alert to indications that a patient might be depressed. They serve three meals a day with daily choices. Mom is usually pleased with the food. The Kahl Home is currently in the process of building a beautiful new facility which will probably open in June, 2012. "

"My father was at Hammond Henry Nursing for rehabilitation. It's very new. The staff was compassionate and unbelievably excellent. My father was kind of unusual. He praised everybody for everything they did and thanked them profusely. If somebody gave him a bath, he said he'd tell them what was so wonderful about that bath. He appreciated so much everything everybody did for him, and he wanted them to know it. It's a smaller facility, and they probably gave better one-on-one care. My dad did not like the food there, though. But he was a connoisseur of food. He wanted salt and he wanted flavor. The nursing staff were incredibly helpful and compassionate. They guided us immensely. We didn't know what to expect, but they really gave us great guidance. They did a very nice job. Dad came back there on a hospice program. He was practically on his death bed saying thank you to the staff. He saw a human being in them and not a worker. And in turn they just bent over backwards for him. He died there last September. "

"My dad moved into Allure of Geneseo. I liked that you've got somebody that they watch over 24/7. My father was diagnosed with dementia about three years ago, and he can't remember three minutes ago. I do like the care that he received. The staff rotates a lot. I don't see the same person, but I might see them every couple of weeks. Usually, I see different people all the time. The structure is solid and very clean. They clean his apartment almost daily. They've got bingo, arts and crafts. They've got stuff to keep them busy all day. The layout is nice. They've got several emergency exits but there's one door that allows you in and out of that floor. The size of his apartment is beautiful. He's got a bathroom with an area for him to sit down like a sit-down in a shower. He's got a big walk-in closet. He's got a side where we have his bed and a living area. It's a pretty good size."

"We placed my grandmother at Aledo Rehab and Health Care Center. They are the least expensive, and I am really impressed with the care that they provide. Their CNAs are wonderful; they have adopted my grandmother as their own. The nursing staff is very attentive; they try and make things as easy on her as they can. The administrator was wonderful, explaining a lot of the things that they do provide and the ways that we can make things easier on her. The only thing that this home actually needs is a remodel. It looks terrible, but it is an excellent home. It has that institutional feel to it where most nursing homes nowadays have more of a homey feel. I think it really just needs a remodel. "
