I am a permanent resident now over at Manorcare Health Services-Utica Ridge. I had spent a week in the hospital because my magnesium and potassium are both really low. When I left there, I came over here because I was going to do the physical therapy. I did four weeks of physical therapy here and then after that, I was supposed to go home. However, I can't go back to my apartment. I was at a point where I needed 24-hour care, seven days a week because I could not get up. I do not have any muscle power to go from the chair to bed to the toilet; I just can't get up by myself, I had to have help. So, then we're trying to decide where I was to go since I could not go home, and I said is there any way we can work something out to stay here because I have already spent four weeks upstairs on the physical therapy floor and got acquainted with everybody and I was comfortable here. I don't want to go anywhere else if it is at all possible. They made it happen, so I was really thankful and really happy here. It is a 24-hour care and they've got three shifts here. There is somebody here with you all the time. There are two beds in the room, and they paired me up with the perfect roommate, it was unbelievable. We were so much alike, it was a perfect match, and we get along real well. They have really nice rooms. You got your closet, drawers and nightstand and then the two beds, and two TVs: it's all really nice. When I was up in the therapy floor, I did not have any roommates. There were still two beds there, but I was there by myself. On one side of the coin, that was fine, but on the one side I really enjoyed my roommate. They have an activity room, and they have different things going on there all the time like exercise class, bingo, different games, and get together with some of the other residents. You kind of get to know people if you go down there. They do that around 10 o'clock in the morning. They got a regular gym down there. For a while we were doing the therapy in the room because of Covid but now we can go down to the gym, so you got all your equipment and stuff for the different exercises down there so that helps. The food is a little on the bland side, but my sister got me this garlic pepper, it gives a little bit more flavor. I have not had any bad meal yet; I have enjoyed all of it. I love to eat so it's all been good to me. We are allowed visitors, but they cannot come to the room, you either visit up in the main entrance there in the lobby or sometimes you have to take them outside. I am covered by Medicaid and got in on that and that made it possible for me to stay here and that is a good thing.

I would give more than 5 stars if I could! My therapists were wonderful and encouraging! They are helping me reach every goal I have set for myself! The CNAs and nurses have made my stay comfortable and pleasant when healthcare stays seem frightening. I would always choose ManorCare for my rehab needs!

I always enjoy my stay at MCUR. Friendly staff and the therapy is the best! Everyone treats me like family and I cannot imagine going to any other place for my therapy needs.
