The main thing that I felt about Holiday Palmer Hills was it felt homey to me for my brother. The people were very nice. Everything seems rather simple, the way they do things there. I know they have activities for people to do. I can't say if my brother had done them, but he likes it, and that's what counts. I felt comfortable about putting him there. The staff is very helpful and very nice. They answered all my calls and questions like they always have. They are very nice and my brother likes them, too. I have tried the food and it's very good. They have a chef of their own. They're very organized when they are serving their meals. They are on top of things. It's pretty cool. I like it. They have a good variety of activities. The front of the building where you can see some of the apartments, has a landscape where they can put some flowers out there. My brother has a balcony and it's kind of nice to come out and look outside.

Holiday Palmer Hills was a nice facility. It's a nice location and they're very accommodating. They answered all my questions and gave me a tour of the facilities. They had all the basic amenities I wanted like an exercise room, a library, and all that.

We toured Holiday Palmer Hills for my mom. It was a very nice space with wide halls. The dining area was wide, like a cathedral almost. Plus, the place has nice furniture. They offer different layouts of the rooms; they're not all the same. Depending on what you like, you can get more patio, or more closet space or more living space. It's nice to have a choice. The staff took me down to the main activity area. There was a meeting going on about a topic that was vital for the seniors to know about. They also showed me the activity area and all that. They had a movie room, and they had individual rooms where you can play cards. The place is aging, I think. It's an older facility, but that's fine. They do try to keep it up. They offer transportation and I thought that was good. They also offer 24-hour staff and assistance for when you had one of those emergencies. They had call buttons you can use. The price of this one is more in line with what my mom could afford. The other ones around here that are similar would be thousands plus more a month or so.

I went to Holiday Palmer Hills. They offer a lot of services that almost make it like assisted living. What I liked best were the in-house services and the restaurant style dining. The thing I liked the least was the kitchen and laundry options. There was a laundry room that they do their laundry in. The kitchen is very minimal. It was just a small sink and an undercounter refrigerator. I saw the menu, and the food differs every week. They have a soup of the day and entrees that are staples, like grilled ham and cheese sandwich, shrimp, and roast beef over noodles. They make fresh bread daily. They have an in-house chef. The lunch yesterday was chicken crepes, Swedish meatballs, or baked cod. They had nice choices. I thought the menu was good. They have food available all day, like juices, drinks, bagels, and fresh fruit. The staff was great. The kitchen situation in each apartment was the biggest drawback for me right now, but they were very accommodating. If you want to try to make changes and bring in things, they are very open to that. They also offer three meals a day. Their price was lower than other places.

We have chosen Holiday Palmer Hills because it has a home-like atmosphere. It is the most value for the dollar. The food is very good. The staff is friendly. They have activities going from 6 AM till 6 PM, so there's lots of things to choose from. They have a room that's full of DVDs with a large screen TV, which my brother-in-law would enjoy. There's a small exercise room with three different styles of exercise bikes. I was sold on this community because they have a home health agency that works with them. We would be able to keep my brother-in-law there until he needs full-time care. It could be kind of a modified assisted living, so that was very appealing to me.

We went to look at Holiday Palmer Hills. The place was clean, and the apartments were nice. The meal we had there was good. I could live there myself. The lady who took us around was nice and informative. The tour was a pretty nice experience. They have a room on each floor with a couple of washers and dryers. In the rooms, they have small refrigerators. The place is nice on the outside. They have trees, a walking path around the whole place, and a little garden for the people.

This is an awesome facility. With awesome meals, activities, beautiful facility, great residents and staff. They have been thru some ownership and staff change so some patience is needed, but every need of my father has been taken care of when asked. Above and beyond! Yes there is a bed bug issue in a couple rooms and they are on it. These thing happen when u have people moving in and out. Some people need to be realistic. They are handling it and taking all precautions.

Bed bug infestations. Yes that is plural as in more than once in a 6 month period. Families should be ashamed to bring a loved one here. Food is barely edible and barely holding up their end of the contract

The tour at Palmer Hills was very nice and very informative. The grounds were very nice. The upkeep that I saw was good, and also it had nice places for the residents, so they can be outside when it's good weather. They have three meals a day. The residents seemed very happy. I spoke with a couple. They offer a lot of activities. They have fitness classes, and they have a movie theater. They can play cards. They have a game room and an exercise room. I was very happy with the apartments because they were very nice and roomy.

We have mom over at Palmer Hills. Everything seems to be fine over there. We had talked to them several years back before she left town. We were thinking about putting her there, and then she ended up coming back to town. It just seemed like a nice place, and it was priced right. They seem very helpful and willing to do whatever needed to be done. There's been a couple of little bugs that needed to get worked out, but I'm sure that would happen anywhere. They serve three meals a day. The food itself is good. It just takes a while to get it to the room, if she decides to dine in the room (instead of going down to the dining hall). They got plenty of stuff going on if she chooses to attend every day. It seems like every day they have some kind of activity. The facility is not perfect, but it's pretty good. It's very conveniently located.

Palmer Hills was absolutely wonderful. If you want a wall painted, they'll do that for you, and if there's any color you want, they'll do that for you too. In my opinion, they went above and beyond what they needed to do. The lady who helped us was awesome. She really helped us out, showed us many apartments, and was great. She even did a follow-up call to make sure that everything was good and to see if she could do or help us with anything else. She was fantastic. There's one room I loved that had big windows and even a skylight. It would have been perfect for my mom because it was a one-bedroom, plus the living-room area was close to the elevator. My mom comes from a very, very small community, however, and it was a pretty big place, so I think it overwhelmed her. It's so spread out. My mom is ninety-two and is limited on how far she can walk before she has to sit down, but it was great. They offered a lot, though. My mom could have played cards, she could have played their piano, and there were plenty of other things for her to do. I just love Bettendorf. I'm from Iowa, and that was one of the reasons I wanted to show her something from Bettendorf, because then she would be closer to me. Plus that area is very nice.

We went to Palmer Hills. Everybody was very friendly. The main building was beautiful and had a lot of windows. The dining room was really nice. The apartments themselves were a little dated and rundown, like some of the screen doors didn't work quite right. I guess for the money, it was OK. My friend was not overly impressed with it, but the grounds were nice. It's just the apartments themselves were a little rundown and dated. The staff was very nice and very helpful. She answered any questions we had. She gave us prices and everything like that. She was very helpful. They were playing bingo and some other ladies may have been playing cards. They had a lot of activities. It looked like it would be a decent place for someone, but maybe some updating on the apartments would help. The facility itself was very nice. The people were very friendly, and there were activities. The dining room was beautiful and had lots of windows.

I thought Palmer Hills was okay. I'm just beginning my search so this was my first one so I don't have a lot to compare it to. The apartments were okay, some of them were small, and the other ones were a little larger. They got the usual stuff but none of us can use, they got it all lockdown because of Covid 19. They got a bus that takes people around and they got community singing out there, too. You can walk around the hall, but there's nothing there for you to see or do. We didn't really talk to anybody in there, we saw some people walking around but that was about it.

We went to Palmer Hills. It was an awesome place. It's excellent. However, we feel like our mom needs more assistance than what they can offer. They said they don't really have anybody on staff from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and we feel like somebody needs to be with her. Our mom has got dementia and so forth. That was our only thing. We really liked it. We would highly recommend it, but we just felt like our mom's a little bit beyond that type of care. The lady was very nice; she was excellent. She was very good about her explanations and so forth. Nothing against them or the facility, it just really had to do with our needs. The dining room looked very good. Obviously, they had all the tables distanced for COVID reasons. It looked good and clean. The rooms were super nice. Overall, it was very good. We were very pleased, but our mom is a little bit beyond independent living.

We went to Palmer Hills. Their apartments were very nice and very clean. The staff members were very nice. The patrons seemed to really enjoy living there. They had a very good communication with the staff. They were just finishing up on lunch, and every one seemed to have smiles on their faces. It looked like they had a very good menu. The dining area was a very clean and cafeteria-type setting. However, the price was a little high for my friend.

Palmer Hills' rooms were not necessarily apartments, and it had more of an institutional atmosphere. There was no kitchen, just a small refrigerator and a sink. There's no place to cook available in the apartment, and no laundry facility in the apartment, but on the same floor. It's shared not only with everyone else on the floor, but also with the staff who does the linen service. That was one downside. I liked the young lady who conducted the tour as she was a lot more personable, more family-oriented, a little less business-like, and a little more personal. They could somewhat expand their menu with more choices. They have an exercise room, exercise program, computer use, small libraries, and activities everyone could get involved in. The woman at the front desk was quite helpful and pleasant also. The place was very well-maintained.

My sisters and I stopped at Palmer Hills one night. We received a tour of the location and had an opportunity to check out a couple of rooms that were available, but we decided against it because it did not provide the level of assistance that we felt our mother needed. The rooms were nice and big enough. For what we were looking at there and the price, I don’t believe that the kitchen setup was sufficient. It was more of a studio, and we were looking for something that would actually allow our mother to prepare a meal and have refrigerator space. The room smelled like there was smoking in the facility, so we were not too thrilled with that. While we were there, they had an emergency, and the fire and rescue people came. We were not comfortable with how that episode was handled from what we saw, and we were very uncomfortable with that type of emergency response. The dining area seemed clean, and the residents seemed to be enjoying their meals.

We have chosen Palmer Hills. My parents haven’t moved in yet, but I think this is a really good solution for them. They have lots of activities. Even though there are a lot of people that use walkers or scooters and need help, it is a much more vigorous clientele in independent living. They bring in groups and play music. They have a great restaurant-style service, so they order what they want. The place is beautifully decorated. It is an older, smaller building, but it is beautifully maintained. And I really like how it is in the neighborhood surrounding, so there are lots of trees. It doesn’t feel so institutional and does feel cozy and homey. They could have their dogs, and they could feed the birds. We ate lunch there yesterday, and it was excellent.

Palmer Hills had a beautiful setting in the woods, and they had parking slots for anyone or residents that would have a car. They have a beautiful dining room. It seemed older but very well maintained. The person who assisted us was very kind and thorough. They had snacks there, and people coming in can take some of those things. On their calendar, they had bingo and card games or things that they had available if anybody wants to socialize.

We did visit Palmer Hills and had lunch there. The food was just acceptable, small portions which I could actually use to lose a little weight. I don’t think the food was anything exceptional. The location was good, the grounds were nice, and it’s a nice facility. They offered 3 or 4 different choices for rooms, and we saw most of them. One thing, the facility was built 27 years ago and to me, when I looked around, it’s due for remodeling at some point. Twenty-six years ago, I imagine it’s the same carpet and the rooms were a little dated, but it seemed clean.

It's only been a week, but so far, we love it. The facility, staff and food are very nice. My dad had not been eating well for a long time and was very weak. One week into looking forward to eating really good meals, things have really turned around.

My experience with Palmer Hills was very good. I don't have any problems at all. The activities are very good. They have a library and a computer in the library that's available to all the residents. They also have an activities room downstairs, a storage room, and a large dining area if you want to have a family gathering. It's very nice. The food is very good. The dining area is excellent. You have a menu to choose from with options. It's very nice and like regular dining within a restaurant.

My mother has settled in quite well in Palmer Hills. It is a very nice community. Everybody has a little porch so they can go on to the outside. There is a lot of closet space. They have three meals a day and come around with a little food cart to help you pick out your salad, soup, and dessert. All in all, it is a very nice place. It works for her, and that’s what’s important. She seems happy. She has a feeder outside her window where she can feed the birds. Apparently, the elderly like to feed birds. There are multiple choices on the menu, and the food is very good. What is very unique is they serve a large lunch, not a large dinner. They also have a spot where they can get coffee, cookies, or fruit. I will absolutely recommend them. There is a library and a nice sunny area for people to talk.

My husband really likes Palmer Hills. However, I want a place where I can do some cooking, and all they have is a microwave and a really small refrigerator, so that is not for me. Also the rooms that we looked at were way too big for us. However, they were spacious, and they were great. The residents were all in one group, and there was somebody entertaining them the day we were there. Aside from that, they have exercise equipment and stuff, but I don't know if we would use that or not.

We moved our dad to Palmer Hills. It seemed very nice, and the meals were great. The staff is very helpful to get us oriented to the facility. They were very accommodating in getting the key and giving him paper work like the menu and answering all our questions leading up to this. The office staff is very friendly. All of the rooms in Palmer Hills are very bright. There is a lot of light. The room is painted nicely, and the carpets are clean when we move in. Everything is very clean. I cannot tell you exactly what activities they have, but they have music, movies that they show, bingo, and live music sometimes. They have a good sense of community. The food is very good, and there are a lot of options, choices, and variety. It is fresh, and I think everyone can find something they like. The dining area is very spacious and bright with lots of windows, and they have servers that serve you like you are in a restaurant.

Palmer Hills was a very nice place. I think it was probably more than I could afford, but they offered just about everything in the world. They have meals everyday, they have all kinds of classes like exercises, and they have social workers onsite that can help you if you have any problems. It was just very nice. My overall experience was excellent as far as what they offer. Except for the price, it's excellent. It was very pleasant. It was clean and nice. The people were nice. I would recommend it if the person could afford it. The place was very elegant and upper-class.

I choose Palmer Hills mostly because of their geographic location to my work and my home. The facility also offers the pricing and the additional services that is within my expectation. They are very helpful. The food that she has is very adequate. The activities are likewise adequate. We choose a studio apartment, which is the size that we need for her. I suggest that they focus more time in integrating their new residents, and that will be for activating their internet, telephone, integrating the library system because we are big readers, and assisting with making sure that their transition from having a physician lined up that it be seamless. There shouldn't be any gap in time from their move from another community when they go into their facility. They should be right on top to make sure that the doctors, dentists, eye doctors, pharmacies, and all that need to be part of their move in package or check list to make sure that things are being done.

My parents are in Palmer Hills going on three weeks now. We choose it because we feel that it meet their needs. One of the big factors is that although we know they are going to need assisted living in the future, we also know that we didn't want them to have to pay for that at this time. They will work with us on that terms when they need it, and they don't have to pay for any assisted living until they actually start needing the help. They are pretty much able to care for themselves, but having three meals a day prepared, activities and so forth while they are still independent, is a real plus as well. They also provide changing of their sheets, doing their linen and they also come to clean once a week for them. They have a variety of activities. They have exercise activities, they have movies, they have people that come in and do programs. Every morning and every afternoon, they provide coffee and tea available at all times. It is independent living, so they are also free to come and go, as they want. They have transportation available. We just find it to be what they need. My sister and I eat meals there with them -- they are very proud of what they offer and the food is good. They have a lovely apartment. It is converted from a one-bedroom apartment and studio apartment. They join the two to make one apartment and it becomes exactly what they need because they need two bathrooms. The fact that the company is willing to provide for them the same cost that the other apartment is for when they are originally asking the price of the two apartments individually. Actually, the apartment they look at first is being look at by others. The woman who sees us through is very gracious and she shows my parents one more that has a few more amenities in favor of them. We find the price, the location, and what they are offering to be what we need and I did feel that they are very good and well established.

When I went to Palmer Hills, I like the place, but the smell of the cigarette was pretty strong and I wasn’t happy with that. I don’t really remember the specifics of their activities, but I know they have some. Overall, it's a nice place to live. The staff were very nice and the food is great. Their dining area was very nice too. The facility is just really expensive so I think they need to be a little more cost effective, but you get a lot for the money. The cigarette smoke was just my biggest issue.
