Independent Living Communities in Clinton, IA

"We toured The Summit at Bettendorf. We saw some of the memory care and some of the others, but independent living is what we were interested in. I was very impressed with the community. The independent living apartments are especially nice, with larger square footage than some of the others. You get more bang for your buck kind of thing. The activities and the socialization possibilities are better. The physical activity possibilities are top-notch with free classes. The physical director handles everything as far as activities and gives them exercises to strengthen certain things, and I love that. I also love the fact that they could get their meals any time of day, and they weren't stuck with whatever the meal of the day was. They could pick off a menu and it's included with the monthly fee. If they were gone in the middle of the day or the evening and they missed the main meal like they would in some of the other places, they wouldn't have to worry about it and they could just get it whenever. It's lovely. It's very clean. The staff is very courteous and helpful."

"Grand Haven was large and open. The room was big, so Mom could put in her own belongings. She would have her own bathroom, and she could bring in her own bed. The place was very good. They always have activities going on like trips. They would have 3 meals plus snacks. They can have ice cream any time they want, and they can also have any kind of food if they're hungry at any time. It was very good talking with the people there. They were very upbeat and all were saying "hi" to Mom. The residents can also help grow the garden and grow their own vegetables."

"My mother is in Luther Manor. The location is better than others, and how they take care of the place is a whole lot better. It's clean and very well maintained."

"At Village Cooperative of Crow Creek, you could buy in. The shared prices are what I'm looking for. It's all-inclusive. It has underground parking and the manager was very friendly and cooperative. Talked to her several times. I liked the quality of the unit itself. It's a little bit better than some other places. It's got a little more square footage. It's a two-bedroom, a little over 1200 square feet, with two baths. They were very nice units. The property is not that old. It's a newer building. They have a common area down by where you enter the building. There is an exercise room there. They got laundry in the unit. The bathroom has a walk-in bath, which I prefer. There were lots of closet space. The bed was a good size."

"We went to Park Vista. The apartments were very nice and clean, but there were lots of them, so it would be very hard for a 90-plus person to find their way around. It was very confusing going up and down the elevator. It was after the lunch hour that we visited, and people were going back into their apartments from the cafeteria. Some of them were coming back from a bus trip where it had taken them to an off-property restaurant for lunch that day. The dining area was very confusing. It was a long way from the apartments to the cafeteria. Well, the staff members were very nice, and they had a small library and a small game room."

"My mom is a resident of Crosstown Square. They've been wonderful to my mother. It's changed in ten years because it wasn't the nicest place when she started there. They've remodeled since she's been there. There's a lot of pluses. There are some minuses, but they did a nice job there. The staff was excellent. I wish they would get a new heating system. I enjoyed their food. They do have good food. She plays cards. She plays bingo, does happy hour, does crafts, and goes on all the trips they take. They do have nice activities there. It was high expense-wise, but my mom has been very happy there, so you can't put a price tag on that."

"I was very impressed with Masonic Village. It had a garage and the living quarters was about as big as a house and had sunny rooms. They had a medical facility there, too. You can cook at home or you can go and pay for meals in the dining area. The laundry room had a stacked washer and dryer. The kitchen had a refrigerator and everything. There was lots of closet space. "

"I thought the assisted living facility was amazing. The entire building felt very homey and sweet. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I felt like I was in a house rather than some place clinical. They have a big lobby with a fireplace, lots of comfy chairs, and a few radios. The residents seemed to congregate in the lobby's to meet up and talk and they all seemed really comfortable and at home. In the dining area, it felt more like a big dining room instead of a cafeteria. The residents all work with the staff to set the tables for dinner and they get to pick from a small menu that is changed daily. But the best thing about this assisted living home was the staff. They were all very friendly and treated the guests like friends they haven't seen in a while, rather than people they're paid to look after. It was a great experience that I would be happy to have a loved one stay at. "

"My mom was in assisted living for 2 1/2 months. She had a beautiful apartment and was allowed to bring her small dog. That was so important to her. She was then in the Gardens for 3 weeks before she passed. I cannot thank them enough for the excellent care they gave to mom. They became like family and helped all of us through a very difficult time."

"My parents will be moving in to Liberty Village of Geneseo this March 22nd. We chose them because the size of the town is smaller, and my dad can still hopefully drive around for a little while. We couldn't go in because of COVID. We just sat outside with the director and she was so helpful in answering my questions and talking to my parents. They're going in for the independent living, but they have assisted living and memory care if we need it. We went into one empty apartment that they were getting ready to get painted. The apartment was just normal, but they had a courtyard in the middle, and I liked that idea. I liked that kind of a neighborhood feel. The location was great because even though Geneseo is a small town, it has a hospital, so I liked that a lot."
