"My mother is in Luther Manor. The location is better than others, and how they take care of the place is a whole lot better. It's clean and very well maintained."

"My mother is in the Good Samaritan Society. It's a good nursing home, they take care of the patients, it's just very costly. The staff, the aides, and everybody there, they're good, and they've taken a lot of anger off for her. It seems clean, they have housekeeping there, cleaning the rooms every day."

"Grand Haven was large and open. The room was big, so Mom could put in her own belongings. She would have her own bathroom, and she could bring in her own bed. The place was very good. They always have activities going on like trips. They would have 3 meals plus snacks. They can have ice cream any time they want, and they can also have any kind of food if they're hungry at any time. It was very good talking with the people there. They were very upbeat and all were saying "hi" to Mom. The residents can also help grow the garden and grow their own vegetables."

"We toured The Summit at Bettendorf. We saw some of the memory care and some of the others, but independent living is what we were interested in. I was very impressed with the community. The independent living apartments are especially nice, with larger square footage than some of the others. You get more bang for your buck kind of thing. The activities and the socialization possibilities are better. The physical activity possibilities are top-notch with free classes. The physical director handles everything as far as activities and gives them exercises to strengthen certain things, and I love that. I also love the fact that they could get their meals any time of day, and they weren't stuck with whatever the meal of the day was. They could pick off a menu and it's included with the monthly fee. If they were gone in the middle of the day or the evening and they missed the main meal like they would in some of the other places, they wouldn't have to worry about it and they could just get it whenever. It's lovely. It's very clean. The staff is very courteous and helpful."

"I'm in Iowa Masonic Health Facilities. The food is good, and they take good care of me. They have a nursing staff. They have lots of nice activities like bingo, crafts, and movies. I'm in skilled nursing, and my room is very nice and they keep it very clean. The staff is very helpful. The atmosphere is friendly."

"We visited Park Vista Retirement Living - North Hill. The clients there seemed happy, comfortable, and interactive with each other. There was one woman that was kind of lost and wandering, and she was made to feel comfortable, and got back to her area where she needed to be by the person who was giving us the tour, and that person was excellent; answered a lot of questions and was very helpful. Room sizes are adequate and very desirable. I'm not able to comment on the activities in the memory section. I would like to have heard more about that, but we just didn't talk about it much. They did very well touring. The staff who gave the tour was excellent."

"My mom is a resident of Crosstown Square. They've been wonderful to my mother. It's changed in ten years because it wasn't the nicest place when she started there. They've remodeled since she's been there. There's a lot of pluses. There are some minuses, but they did a nice job there. The staff was excellent. I wish they would get a new heating system. I enjoyed their food. They do have good food. She plays cards. She plays bingo, does happy hour, does crafts, and goes on all the trips they take. They do have nice activities there. It was high expense-wise, but my mom has been very happy there, so you can't put a price tag on that."

"We saw both the independent and assisted living at New Perspective (Lighthouse). We were happy with the independent living except that the apartment available was located too far from the common areas or the social gathering areas, and our mother would not have been able to work with the distance. It wasn’t the right fit for our mother. They offered us some discounts, so I would rate them high for the value of what was being offered. "

"I visited Park Vista Retirement Living numerous times, and it is a fantastic facility. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It is modern, clean, and spacious. They have a reading area, a lobby, a theater, a large community room where they do crafts, have entertainment, and dine, and an outdoor patio area. I have eaten there before -- they had numerous events there before COVID -- and their food is fantastic."

"My parents will be moving in to Liberty Village of Geneseo this March 22nd. We chose them because the size of the town is smaller, and my dad can still hopefully drive around for a little while. We couldn't go in because of COVID. We just sat outside with the director and she was so helpful in answering my questions and talking to my parents. They're going in for the independent living, but they have assisted living and memory care if we need it. We went into one empty apartment that they were getting ready to get painted. The apartment was just normal, but they had a courtyard in the middle, and I liked that idea. I liked that kind of a neighborhood feel. The location was great because even though Geneseo is a small town, it has a hospital, so I liked that a lot."

"My mom is in Sarah Harding Senior Living and she likes it. She's very happy, the staff is very accommodating, very caring, hands-on, involved, and concerned. She's in a one-bedroom apartment, she has a kitchenette, and they also have a cafeteria in the community. The location is fine; it's in the middle of the city."

"I have been living in Countryside for five years now. It is quite handy. We have mail delivery inside. We have a laundrymat inside. The people are great. The staff is very friendly and very hopeful. I do my own cleaning inside the apartment, and they keep the outside clean. I also do my own cooking. We have a community room where we do what we want to do like bingo or play games. We also have a computer room. "

"Regency Retirement was a really nice community and with apartment-style units that vary in size. They had all the amenities, as far as laundry and garage. The people needed to go out for doctor’s appointments, but it was a nice facility. Some of the rooms were spacious. She looked at two bedrooms and couple of smaller ones. They seemed very neat and clean. "
