We are so disappointed in this facility. We were facing a move for our Step mother, she has Alzheimers. She was declining and needed memory care. We checked out this facility, thought it was exactly what she needed. We moved her in, she fell alot, she had gone to the hospital to be checked four times. Luckily she had a sprain ankle, and bruises. She has gone through many stages with this disease. We get a call from Grand Haven, that they are kicking her out, that she is too much work for them. She was there only 3 weeks. First, we would not have moved her if we felt she would have to move again! And to be kicked out of a place that claims they are a memory care facility! We quickly found another facility, and planed the move in 3 days, my sister was told we had to give 15 days!!! When you kick someone out, you still have to stay for 15 days?!! We had to move her when her new place was available, and we were charged for the days she wasn't at Grand Haven. Also my sister met with upper management and talked about the $2000.00 fee, that is non refundable, they would not give any of it back, we thought she would live the rest of her life out there. Then that would be appropriate. I would not put your elderly family in this facility!!! They also charged her more for going up a level of care in the last couple weeks, this was not discussed with her family. Honestly the level of care the last couple weeks was doping her up and putting her in a chair being comatose!! Its hard enough to go through a family member with this disease, let alone, and have to deal with a facility that was so disappointing. I am sorry, this place should not advertise they are there for memory care. I would give them zero stars!!!!! Assisted Living at this facility looked nice, but the memory care was a different story!

We like Grand Haven. The person who gave the tour was very nice and friendly. She had a folder already that she could give us with information, and she was still able to take us on a tour. I didn't know that that would happen because we were in the area, so we called them on the phone to see if they could give us a folder or let us come in, and they were like, "You can come in and we'll give you a tour," so I was surprised that with COVID and everything, they were very accommodating. The staff showed us a couple of one-bedroom units, one that was furnished, and one that wasn't, they were very nice, and clean, and we were pleasantly pleased with how much space there was. We also saw the dining area. It is not being used because of COVID right now, but the meals are being delivered to the rooms. I also like that it's one level, so it seems kinda a little bit more friendly and homey. Activity wasn't at the top of my list to look for, but I know they have a regular activity area where they can do different things, games, movie nights, and things like. The staff was very nice, very friendly, and helpful, and when we walked through the first time, the place was nice and seemed clean, too.

Grand Haven was large and open. The room was big, so Mom could put in her own belongings. She would have her own bathroom, and she could bring in her own bed. The place was very good. They always have activities going on like trips. They would have 3 meals plus snacks. They can have ice cream any time they want, and they can also have any kind of food if they're hungry at any time. It was very good talking with the people there. They were very upbeat and all were saying "hi" to Mom. The residents can also help grow the garden and grow their own vegetables.

The rooms at Grand Haven were excellent. The staff were great. There were less men. I previewed the memory care unit, and they were just eating at a table, so I was not so impressed with the memory care unit. But other than that, it was 5-star. I would like to see a little more interaction on the memory care unit than what I saw, but I guess it was just the timing of my visit.

My mom moved into Grand Haven. We chose it because my mother-in-law is also there, and it works for my mom. They have music at the hall. She has three meals a day. They have transportation to doctors and different places. They have mystery trips. They help bathe her, and they have nurses on duty around the clock. They clean her room and wash her car. I think the food is very good. She doesn't have any complaints.
