"Oaknoll Retirement Residence is a very pleasant and nice place. The setting is really nice. There are several dining rooms and a number of activities. They have a theater and a pool. The studio room in my price range, was small and I would have to bring in my own furniture. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. They have everything there. "

"Regency Heights Apartments was great and nice. The place was friendly and looked really inviting. It was a little more than what we could afford at the time though. The place is beautiful and I would love to have been able to move into it right now. The director who toured us around was great."

"I toured Legacy Retirement Community. It looked very comfortable. They were very friendly and very effective. The rooms and the common areas were very clean and spacious."

"We looked at Atrium Village. It was a two-story facility, and it was fairly new. The staff was great. They had studio and two-bedroom apartments, but none of them were really big. We didn't look at the activities too much, and I didn't see a whole lot of it there. "

"I chose Amana Retirement Community Lakeview Village. The price was much better and I didn't have to make a deposit. The staff was very good and it has a very good reputation. There's nursing home care, independent living and assisted living. I can choose from those depending on the need that I have at the time that I enter there. I inquired about independent. The rent was very reasonable and affordable for independent living and for nursing home care. A large private room in the nursing home wing was 235 for a daily rate. They had an exercise room, a recreation room and activities. I'm familiar with the administrator and I feel good about her. Everything is well done and taken care of there."

"My mom moved into The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. It's ten minutes from my house and from my grandchildren, and that was a big thing. If she would have to go into assisted living, she does not need to move from the apartment that she's in, and that was a big plus. They have a beautician that comes in by appointment. They also have a bath technician by appointment, where you can have a spa-type thing that my mom was really excited about. They have activities that you can go to. They have a community area where they have happy hour. They provide music and entertainment for the residents. They did some special things for Valentine's Day, which I thought was very thoughtful. They have a big area with a TV and a fireplace where families can meet. They provide three meals a day, and my mom seems to be enjoying the meals. They provide a cleaning service and laundry. The cable is included in the price. The staff has just been terrific. They've been very friendly and helpful. It's a very nice-looking facility, inside and out."

"Irving Point was a very nice facility. It was very clean. It was a lot bigger than the other place we toured. They serve meals there. They have somebody on call 24/7. It's more like a smaller apartment. They don't deal with medication or anything like that. If there's a medical emergency, somebody would be there to help them. It's more like independent living. The staff said that they all have the monitors that they wear. They have one and two-bedroom apartments. They have their own stove and refrigerator and very nice walk-in bathrooms. It was more affordable than the other ones that we looked at. Sally, who gave us the tour, was very informative. She helped us out by getting in touch with a couple of other agencies that could help out my dad financially. They charge for the meals. It's like $10 a person if you wanted or you can eat in your own apartment."

"The Villas at Stoney Point was very nice but so expensive. They have arts and crafts, outings, and a library. They have a swimming pool and an exercise room. They also have a nice pathwalk. We tried their food during the tour and it was very good."

"We've decided to go with The Views Senior Living of Cedar Rapids. It's very clean, the people are friendly, and my mom needs a room on the first floor and this is the first place we found with that. We only talked with the guy that took us around, he was knowledgeable and friendly. They're still re-doing her room so it's all going to be new like the paint, carpet, and everything. The apartment's size is spacious. They've got an area for exercise, crafts, bingo, places where the family can go visit that are private areas. Just from what I've seen, I really liked it."

"I went to Highland Ridge. I like the cleanliness of the building and the apartment size. They have on-site dining, which is really nice. They have a salon, and they have like a little area outside that you can go to. There is a community room. The staff was very pleasant, and she gave a lot of information about the living room and stuff. It was well organized; they just forgot that we were going to be there. Otherwise, the portion of the food was really good. The dining area was very clean and elegant."

"Cedar River Bluffs Senior Apartments have fairly new apartments. It is nice. We have a great view of the Cedar River. The people here are our age and active. The office staff have been very helpful in getting us get settled in. We cook our own meals, and we can go out whenever we want. There is a workout room with treadmills and a bicycle. They offer good things, and you can participate in bingo and chair yoga. It is nice looking, clean, and offers a fair price."

"My aunt moved to Garnett Place Retirement Community and it is a wonderful place. It was completely redone and it is well staffed. They are very caring and well qualified. The residents are very happy, too, and well taken care of. The amenities are wonderful. I can't say enough good things about it, and it is very competitively priced. Their policy is that they ask that the residents to pay the first two years of being there, and if they should run out of funds after the first two years, then they can go on Title 19. In other words, they won't throw them out if they have to go on Title 19. So, they provide excellent care. They also have an exercise room, several really nice activities rooms, and a beautiful dining room. I think it's just great. My aunt's apartment has a washer-dryer hooked up as well."

"I have lived here for over a year. I am 58 years old and have a disability... ihave MS. All the stafff are extremely helpful! Very nice staff with many opportunities of activities participate in . For being the youngest resident here, I feel very much at home! I enjoy Westover Manor!"

"I write regarding memory care at Grand Living. My wife was in the care center two years and I have been in independent living for eight months.Two units of memory care are provided and my wife was a resident in Lavender, a unit for women. She had previusly been in another facility for two months. The care at GL was excellent. The director is an amazing caring young lady who understands dementia (alzheimers) and treats residents with great dignity. She touches base with every resident every day, has excellent people skills and cares deeply about each resident. I highly reccomend Grand Living as an excellent facility, especially the memory care units."
