My mother has moved into Cottage Grove Place. It's a very nice place. The staff is good. She had been to respite care at Cottage Grove a few times before, but this time when my sister and brother-in-law returned back to Iowa it was really getting hard for the two of them to handle her, and so we decided to leave her there, because that's what was going to have to happen anyway. And it's close to their house. It had a lot of good things. It's not cheap, but we'll go from there. My mother is in a shared room. The rooms are very nice and large. Hers happens to overlook a garden area, although she doesn't ever go there and look. And the woman that she shares it with doesn't speak. But their room has a divider between each side, and they share one bathroom in there. Regarding amenities, they have several dining rooms depending on your level of care. The people all are nice. And even for my mother's birthday, they had a sign on her door, and we brought treats and all of that. She didn't know it was her birthday, but she was smiling anyway. We've been very happy. All of the staff seem to care and do well. The head of that area has always answered questions and has always answered the phone or has called back. She's very good. Their food is pretty good, too. My mother can still eat by herself, but sometimes she needs some help. They use towels to cover them so they're not spilling all over. And sometimes if she doesn't get out of bed at all, they'll bring the food to her and help her eat. And everybody else seems to eat well, and like it. I haven't heard or seen anybody push it away or say I don't want it. The place is always clean, and it doesn't smell at all. It's always picked up, the room is vacuumed, and the bathroom is clean. It's organized and neat. Even my mother's clothes are hung up all the time by somebody. Or if they're dirty, they have a bag to put them into. It's all good. They give my mother enough blankets. I have only good things at this point to say about this place. They post a calendar in each room of what the activities are for the day, and there's always something. And I think from my mother's room she might be able to hear music if they leave her door open. They seem to have enough activities. I've seen people play games and bingo and stuff like that. I know she's happy and well taken care of. I don't know if she understands anymore, but she smiles a lot there, so I'm assuming she's content.

I toured Cottage Grove Place. They were very kind. They showed me their exercise room, which is wonderful for them. They showed me their dining room, and then they also had an ala carte room. If there's something on the menu that they don't want, they can go down there and order, and they make a special meal for them. If my husband is hungry during the day, he can go get a snack. Just a very nice community. I was shown a semi-private room, and I was very surprised as to how private the semi-private is for each person in that room. They have private rooms. They have semi-private rooms and studios, and from what I could see, I think the rooms are very adequate. It's a hospital bed and they have a nice lazy boy lounger-type chair. They have a wall for drawers and cupboards that they can put their belongings in along with the TV. It's a very comfortable room. The facility was spotless. It was very nice.

Cottage Grove Place was very elite. The facility was very nice. The accommodations are beautiful. The dining area is beautiful. You get a punch card for luncheons there. There's an exercise area and a beautiful garden area. Your appliances are all there. There was a small stove, a refrigerator, and a dishwasher. The staff was kind and very knowledgeable. The food was excellent. They have underground parking as well.

We have been residents at Cottage Grove Place in independent living for just over a year and we have a nice apartment with a nice view and have enjoyed everything. The location of CGP is ideal and the staff, food, entertainment options andpeace of mind that comes from the LIFE CARE program are priceless. It is a great place and glad we mad the choice to come here. Don't wait to long to come to a great place like CGP. Tom G

Thank you to all of the staff at Cottage Grove Place Health Center for the sincere compassionate treatment I received during my stay. It made my recovery go by much quicker. The nurses took the time to get to know me and my preferences and even went so far as to bring me a fresh cup of coffee every morning. The staff took the time to sit with me and enjoy conversations with me. I always looked forward to their visits and their encouragement.

Cottage Grove Place was my number one until I went to the other place. They don't have a swimming pool, but they have lots of other things. The people there were extremely nice. They had a lot of people out doing things, puzzles, playing cards, etc. The residents were out and about. I didn't like the apartment quite as well because it has all carpeting throughout. Other than that, it's a normal apartment. There's nothing special. They have different setups, but the one I looked at was a one-bedroom. It has a woodworking shop that I found very interesting. The tour guide was a young man and he was very good. I liked that part of your rent pays for your meal. They have a $300 allotment for meals for the month, and if you haven't used up your $300 by the end of the month, you can invite your family in and eat up your $300 worth of food. I thought that was very nice. It's very close to my family, which is nice. I just want them to have wood floors. I did talk to them about wood floors and they never mentioned that they would do it.

The people at Cottage Grove Place assisted living were very friendly, the place seemed like it was pretty new, it's quite affordable, and had a lot of amenities to offer for the price so it seemed like a pretty good value. They had new rooms and I'm not sure that anybody's even stayed in the rooms yet so it's very, very clean. There was a pool, a weight room, and an open restaurant. They also had food that you could get or grab at all hours of the day. We saw what they had up on the wall for the menu but we did not get the taste of the food. We liked the overall tour experience.

My mom is at Cottage Grove Place's independent living. Everything is going really well. Everything they told us that would be, we're happy with. She's happy being there. The staff knows their people, and they care about the best for their residents (whether it's part of their job or not). They have two different types of dining rooms. I ate in the Grill. It's more casual and had a more casual environment. I thought that it was fine. They gave a fair portion and the prices seem to be reasonable. They have activities every day. She has something to do every day. We feel really good that she's in a good place that she can live for the rest of her life.

We have cousins and several other people we knew who were staying at Cottage Grove place. It was a big place. They all seemed happy there. However, the place was carpeted and I had allergies and I cannot live in a carpeted place.
