I visited this facility

I toured Friendship Manor. I liked that the rent was less. When I toured it, I didn't like it as well as the other place. I didn't get that good welcoming feeling. They are actually remodeling their independent living facilities right now. What they're remodeling them to are very nice. The residents were fine. I just didn't feel as comfortable there. The rooms were comparable in size and amenities. It's a faith-based establishment. They had a lot of church-based activities, as well as crafts and day trips that people can go on. They didn't offer as many meals a day. They only offered one meal a day. It's an old facility.

I visited this facility

Friendship Manor is in Rock Island and is close to my mother's family. It was clean, most of the people seemed friendly, and they had all the different facilities. The rooms were nice, and the staff members who gave me the tour were very good and helpful. They had activity areas, therapy areas, and they had nice little outdoor areas so when it's good weather you can go to and watch birds.

I visited this facility

I've been to Friendship Manor. They were very accommodating. They gave me a tour of most of the building and a couple of the units. It was a very nice facility. We basically figured out that my mother doesn't have enough money to go there. The staff has been very helpful, accommodating, and friendly. They had apartments, a game room, music, church services, a little store, a library, and a cafe. You can also go on a bus for tours, but I don't know if they're doing that now with COVID. It's very clean and up to date. It's more than one level, so you have to use the elevator.

Silver Cross staff is terrible, rude, not caring except a select few. The housekeepers and maintenance etc.. Seem to be the people that brighten their day. It is sad to know my aunt is living there. Do not put your family there!

I visited this facility

Our grandmother went to Friendship Manor for rehab after a broken hip. The rehab therapists were fantastic, and the building in good repair. We were concerned that the staff repearedly ignored orders for her to be on oxygen, and several times we found her with almost empty tanks. However, after two weeks (during which at least one family member visited daily), my mother went up one evening and found my grandmother (who had copd) lethargic- sleeping at the dining table, and not comprehending questions. She also had a fever. The staff declined to call for further assistance, telling my mother that "this isn't the type of thing they call a hospital for, or send for additional help with. My mother and siblings ignored the staff, calling for an ambulance. That night, my beloved grandmother was put in ICU with the flu and pneumonia, and she died after being removed from a respirator one week later. And to think, their "trained" staff saw nothing wrong at all. Be very careful when sending your family here.

I visited this facility

My sister and I visited Friendship Manor. The facility itself was very accommodating. It was very clean. As a matter of fact, it was a growing facility and it was quite large. The staff was very gracious. They answered our questions. They were very understanding of the difficulty to move your parents. I thought the people there were happy. The apartment seemed very pleasant. It would be a progressive need facility. So, when they were in the independent and they would need full care, they could move as needed. It was very good. I thought they fit for what they offered.

My husband works in construction, and had to have his left knee replaced. His doctor recommended outpatient therapy at an assisted living facility to help him get back to normal. I was able to find the Friendship Manor was on our insurance program, so we visited them to see if he would feel comfortable working with them. When we got there, we noticed how up to date the facility was and that they would be the perfect place for my husband to get his physical therapy. We met with the Director of Nursing and she explained the programs they offered. We also met with the Physical therapist and after chatting with her for thirty minutes, we decided to setup the first appointment for my husband's therapy. My husband has been going to his therapy for two weeks now and he is doing very well. He will have at least four more weeks of therapy, but thanks to this great facility he is healing very well after his surgery.

At Friendship Manor in Rock Island Illinois, where my grandmother is staying I have to say that I am very happy about where she is at. My grandmother who is from Lima Peru, does not speak English very well. I was really worried that she wouldn't be able to communicate with the staff or even some of the people that were at the nursing home. Much to my surprise that had at least six or seven staff memeber who could all speak Spanish! So that right away was a very good thing. When I came to visit her on the weekends more often then not I would see her talking in her native language to one of the nurses telling jokes and having a good time! So that made me very happy! The only negative thing I could say about this place is that I thought some of the facilities could have been upgraded. Don't get me wrong they were very fine, but they were definitely dated. But something like that is not really that big of a deal. All in all, Friendship Manor is a great place for your loved one!
