Hillcrest is a Wonderful place. Ron the owner and all his staff are great. They are like one big Happy family. Our dad just loves it there. I would refer it to anyone with a loved one needing assistance. They go beyond. Great group of people.

We visited Hillcrest Assisted Living. The staff was really friendly, especially the cook. He was nice. He gave me the tour for the first time and he was very friendly. As far as why we chose that for my dad, it's because he's a smoker and because he has a dog. It met his needs. I did not get to taste the food. I've never eaten liver and onions, but when I did go out there one time, they were making liver and onions, and I did kind of want to try it. It smelled delicious. The room they showed me was very clean. It had wood floors. It had a closet for their personal belongings. There was a TV and a dresser in there, and there was also a small apartment refrigerator that they allow in there, a chair and bed, and a couple of tables, and it was fairly nice sized for a bedroom. It needed some minor maintenance. It was a very clean facility, but it was an older building. It might need a few repairs. It could have possibly used a little bit more flooring. The staff was very helpful. You can bring your animal if you have an animal and my dad being a smoker, and he has an opportunity to go outside and have a covered porch to smoke on.

I went to Hillcrest Assisted Living. It's affordable, and I liked that it was kind of tucked outside of town a little bit. It had sort of more of a country, outside-of-the-city feel to it. I thought the place was good. I saw them making meals and they were making bacon and all kinds of good stuff in the kitchen. So it seems like a house environment. It doesn't feel like a hospital. It looks a little dated like things are a little older. It's around five to ten minutes max of pretty much Columbia has to offer.

I had an in-person tour of Hillcrest Assisted Living. They are trying to improve the environment and the decor. The people and staff are very nice. But it's not the type of place my mom would probably like to stay. The facility looks unkept. The environment there is like going to a family member's house. It's more of a home environment. There's a very large kitchen there, and they have a cook that serves the residents.

Hillcrest Assisted Living was nice and it's very inexpensive. The rooms were kind of small, but they were adequate. The LPN and the cook were very nice and very friendly. We didn't have a chance to try the food but the owner, Ron, was very, very nice and he's the one who gave us the tour.

Hillcrest Assisted Living was not a good fit for my mom, I think for other people it would have been fine. The rooms were a little small, and I just know my mom wouldn't have been happy with that. They provide transportation if you need to go to a doctor. They feed you home-cooked meals, which sounded good. They have activities that they provide. The staff was very pleasant and very nice people.

We went to Hillcrest Assisted Living. I wasn't impressed. They're an old establishment. Compared to the new place, it's kind of old fashioned. Everybody looked happy there. I'm sure it's comfortable. I went there in a wheelchair, and the hallways and doorways are pretty tight. The employees were pretty good. They seemed knowledgeable, but the facility wasn't suitable for a wheelchair. It was well maintained. They had a large, wooded area behind them, and they said people can go out there.

I liked Hillcrest Assisted Living. I liked the people I met there, I liked the looks of the food and the menu, and the cook was very open to taking care of whatever the residents wanted. I was very much impressed with the food. The facility was being remodeled, and there were some carpets being replaced. All the staff I met was great. I would've taken my mother there except for the location. It was a little far north of Columbia for us. They had nurse on the premises, and the care seemed very good. They offered more of helping them with bathroom trips and needs, dressing, bathing, and things like that. The dining area was a little bit small, and it was kind of a multipurpose area.

My husband moved into Hillcrest and likes the food. He's able to get out with the residents, watch TV, and go to the store. They can improve on the group activities. They play cards, watch movies, and make donuts. They have a doctor who comes to the facility.

My grandma on my mothers side stayed at this location for a little while before her passing, and while she got the medical care she needed during her stay at Hillcrest Residential Care, I wouldn't suggest anybody put a loved one there. The staff took care of the necessary needs of the residents but that's it, they didn't care to get to know any individual or take that extra step to make my grandma or any resident fell comfortable and at home. The overall condition and cleanliness or the home was poor at best, the walls constantly were covered in dirt and other marks of unknown substances, the hallways were small and cluttered with wheelchairs and carts, and the entire building has an overwhelming smell of urine and soon as you walking in the front door. The only plus was that Hillcrest was an affordable place and they provided all the medical services my grandmother needed before her death.
Provider Response
I have owned Hillcrest for over 25 years. Like any buisness we do not please every consumers and family members we serve. We do strive to provide quality nursing care and we are very "homelike" The Department of Health and Senior Services maintains records of our semi-annual inspection reports. These can be obtained by pulling up their web site or by calling our state inspector for region six @ 573-751-2270
