"I moved into Solstice Senior Living at Columbia. I've been here a couple of weeks now. There are things I would like to see better, but by and large, it's a very nice place. Each of the rooms has a balcony of some sort, and there is a lake in the back, it has a very nice duck pond. It's a pleasant-looking place; they have a lot of new people that they're training. Compared to a lot of places around, it's pretty reasonable. The reason I chose it is because it's independent, but I need a little more support system than just being in my apartment. And here, there's a home-health nurse that can help me out do some things, and the staff do some things for me as far as getting the room ready and everything. The apartment I got is a very large 1-bedroom; I get three meals, laundry, and housekeeping. They put new carpet and new paint in the room before I move in, and new blinds. They've treated me pretty well. The food kinda depends on the day, and I was disappointed one day they just served Hamburger Helper, which for the price I was paying, seemed a little bit below par. Some days it's really good, some days it's pretty bad. There's also physical therapy available in the building."

"We toured The Westbury. The young woman who gave us the tour was bright, very caring, and answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. We were not able to try the food, but the menu looked great. The facility was fresh and clean. The layout seemed to be well thought out with most of these amenities and services being centrally located to both independent living and assisted care."

"My dad moved into the Unbridled Living of Columbia. What I liked about them was that, one, they were one of the more affordable options for my dad, and two, he enjoyed the dietary selection, meals, and everything there. They have a couple of different dining rooms, several food choices every day, and a snack area. He wasn't cooking for himself any longer, so that has been a real treat for him to have cooked meals three times a day instead of eating like TV dinners. He still likes being able to live independently. Another benefit is that they offer transportation to doctor's appointments and take them out periodically. Certain days are assigned as they take him to Walmart or grocery shopping, and they provide transportation to and from. So, that is a big plus, too, since he has no other family in town. They do have people come and do everything for the activities."

"We toured TigerPlace (Americare). The facility was a platinum standard and was more than we needed at the time. The staff was exceptional, empathetic, and professional. The facility reminded me of a luxury hotel. It was beautifully executed. The amenities were excellent, if somewhat limited."

"We went to The Village of Bedford Walk. They were friendly there, but they didn't have what we were looking for. The occupants were friendly, but my husband and I didn't have the right feeling. We saw an apartment. It was very luxurious and very well-organized. It had a full kitchen for cooking. The bedrooms were a good size. Everything was pristine, so it was nice. It was just our personal opinion. Other people would find it very attractive. The staff was great. They did a lot of thorough explaining of their facility. We tried the food. They cater one meal at noon and that's all they serve. Everything else is up to you. It was a very good catered meal, and it was very well served."
