My dad moved into the Unbridled Living of Columbia. What I liked about them was that, one, they were one of the more affordable options for my dad, and two, he enjoyed the dietary selection, meals, and everything there. They have a couple of different dining rooms, several food choices every day, and a snack area. He wasn't cooking for himself any longer, so that has been a real treat for him to have cooked meals three times a day instead of eating like TV dinners. He still likes being able to live independently. Another benefit is that they offer transportation to doctor's appointments and take them out periodically. Certain days are assigned as they take him to Walmart or grocery shopping, and they provide transportation to and from. So, that is a big plus, too, since he has no other family in town. They do have people come and do everything for the activities.

I liked that Unbridled Living of Columbia had many options. My father was interested in their one-bedroom, and they had different floor plan options for that one-bedroom. The one he's interested in has a full kitchen with a microwave, an oven, and a sink. It has a separate room for the bedroom. It's an open floor plan, but you can still feel the difference between where the dining room and the living room are, like where they begin, in contrast to some of the other areas we've visited. So, that was nice. The food was great. They had it in a restaurant style where you go and sit down, and the person will come over and wait on you (for some people who are unable to carry a tray). So, instead of the cafeteria style, they just let everyone sit down, order off a menu, or at evening time, they have a separate area where you have the option of having a more gourmet type meal, like steaks or chicken as opposed to the bistro that has sandwiches, salads, breakfast, and that type of thing. It was very clean. They were in the middle of transferring one resident to a different floor, and just looking at her room, you could tell that they helped keep the rooms clean. There wasn't a lot of dust buildup, so that was nice. You could tell that it was kind of a newer facility. It wasn't run down, didn't have water damage, and didn't have rotten wood that we could see in some of the older facilities that we saw down in Texas. There's always room for improvement, though, but what stood out for us there was that as we walked in and did our tour, people called us over to their tables as we were walking through the bistro eating establishment, so they could tell us what a great place this was. People would also stop us in the hallway and tell us what a great place it was and how happy they were. The tour guide gets paid to tell us what a good place it is, but I don't think the residents do. So that stood out, and that meant a lot to us. They were great.

My mother is a resident here. They're superb, they're nice, and they have good food. It's a really nice and clean place, and they're all caring people. It's basically brand new and modern. She has a kitchen, a bathroom and a living area. I don't know how old it is, maybe only 10 years old, so it's all nice and new. They have a courtyard, plenty of room outside to walk on a nice day, and they have a big living room and an activity room. The food is great, and they offer three meals a day. It's just a nice and great place.

It was nice. They have a very nice dining room there and there's also a bistro. There's an old section and a new section. The new section was a little nicer because the second floor looks out on the woods. They have a balcony. The staff was very good and very informative. We had lunch there and the food was good.

It was good. They had individual rooms with a dishwasher and a full oven. What I liked about them was that they had different ways to dine. You didn’t have to go to the dining room all the time. The staff was very nice. There was an outside guitarist that came in and was playing for them. The only problem was the location was a little hard to get to.
