I just moved into Hillside Senior Apartments. I pay $1160 a month. That's for independent living. All utilities are included. It's a nice place. It used to be a hotel at one time. The only thing I disagree with is they need more maintenance men. They only have one maintenance man here. The resident manager and the receptionist are good at trying to help everybody get situated, but they only have one guy who takes care of everything. The people in the office are trying to help and they try their best. Sometimes on holidays, they have things going on and they supply food for those things. They do activities sometimes maybe four or five times out of the month. They've got bingo, cookouts, dancing classes, and yoga classes. They have a gym room.

Hillside Senior Apartments is a small community. The residents I met seemed to be very nice and friendly. The management team seemed to be very efficient. I like the units themselves. They were very nice and they have a few upgraded amenities where they have marble countertops and updated appliances. The bathrooms are nice, too. My only complaint is that they don't have the most closet space, but they say they have extra storage. So, that kind of compensates for that. It's a great community. The staff is excellent. It was very clean. The structure seemed to be fine. It used to be an old hotel that they had converted into senior living, and it's very nice, but they don't have an elevator service in all the buildings. They just have it in a couple of buildings. The layout was nice. The size of the rooms were a little small, but they're about the standard size of a one-bedroom senior apartment.

I was in Hillside Senior Living. It was OK. I just didn't like the idea of having to go to the laundry room. In the winter, you had a hard time, all the ice and snow, and that's the only thing that I didn't like. But everything was right there. You had the bathroom right there, the bedroom, and there's a living room and the kitchen. It wasn't the place, it was just me. There was always somebody there to help you. I liked the staff. They had someone that delivered lunches for a while, but then they stopped. It was a nice, clean place. They kept it clean. They have a lot of activities. It was just closed at that time when I was there. They had a room for exercise, and they had a laundry facility, and they had a bar where they could watch TV, listen to music, and then they had a computer. They had a real big, huge courtyard. You can go barbecue, you can relax, it's just huge, with benches.

I do live here and as far as I know this is independent living…. I have had no major problems and minor problems have been taken care of immediately and my interaction with staff has been fine….this is an over 62 community and I find that the people who complain the most are the really “crabby” ones to start with!!!!!!They complain about everything!!!!! I went to Hillside Senior Living Apartments at Gaithersburg and I wasnt happy with the way that they treated me there. I wasnt happy with it at all. The apartments were small, and the living rooms were very small. They give you a free storage area other than your apartment. I didn't like the layout/the way the apartment was set up. The walk-in closet was in your bathroom, and I didn't like that. They weren't as nice as these other people. I also they didn't like the way they conducted business.
