I live in Cascades Village Apartments in the Sterling area. I've been here for many years. It's independent living, so people who need help usually hire people to come in and help them. It's like a companion that stays four or five hours at the house and then leaves and then comes back, that type of thing. When you come in, the place is nice. It has a library and a computer area. It has a big area where you can watch TV, and people can congregate. They also have parties there. There's a movie theater room, and a laundry room. There's a kitchen area, and they have bingo and other stuff there. I think most people are happy here. The management could be a little bit nicer to people. They are not very caring people at all. They are not there to help. Just to give an example, the water heater went out in my apartment, and when that happens, the apartment floods. So, I ran downstairs to the front desk and said my apartment is flooding. I wanted to get the maintenance guy because he knows and has been working on my water heater for a couple of days now. The person at the front desk just said to give him a call with no urgency. She did not offer to get the intercom and call the maintenance guy or something. I was just lucky he was coming to the front desk, too. He went and got the vacuum, and I'm still waiting for them to change the rug that was totally soaked. There's no urgency or helpfulness, so I'm not crazy about the management team here. They used to be much nicer, but it changed. It seemed like they used to be more helpful and more caring in trying to help people. The building is very nice, though. It has furniture and a piano. It's pretty clean, too. They work hard, as far as the maintenance and the cleaners. Those people work hard and they're very helpful, too. They have people come in, like a Medicare and insurance agent, and they'll do some things about Medicare. They have games and little prizes that you can win, and those are fun. Last Friday, I think they held an end-of-the-month party for the month of August. They had cake and soda for people. I've gone to those things. They've also had exercise classes for the elderly where you can sit and exercise. Considering how expensive the area is, I think the value for money is pretty good. I'm able to afford it so that I can live on my own. I don't have to have a roommate, and I've got more than just the bedroom. I have a living room and a kitchen, so it's more than just one room, and it's big enough for one person. They have different-sized apartments, too, but the single apartments, the 1-bedroom ones, are pretty good-sized. I chose it because it was the most affordable in the area.

I toured Cascades Village Apartments. The apartment was lovely and nice, but it was on the second floor, very far away from the elevator, and I was in a wheelchair. Some people who are in a wheelchairs might find this a lovely place. These facilities were good. The kitchens had cool, full-size appliances, and it was very nice. It wasn't too expensive, and they have laundry facilities, although they were in the apartment, which you could use. You had to pay to use it and put money on some card you used on the machines. The staff was very knowledgeable, took me around, and showed me what was available. She was very good. There was a room for activities and a couple of other things.

We visited Cascades Village. It was very nice. It looked newer. The tour staff was very nice and helpful. I think they were minimal in activities. It was just a senior apartment. They have a gazebo, a balcony, and a barbecue area. I think the staff said they have a weekly fun bingo event but not much else.

We got a full tour of Cascades Village. It was immaculately clean, they showed us everything including where you put your trash, and you could have eaten off the floor, it was that clean. Everything was done meticulously, and the coordinator who showed us around, Kay, was terrific. She cares about the people in her care, we've emailed back and forth a few times, and she's a wonderful person that's very thoughtful and caring. They showed us three available units, and the larger of the three was terrific, it was everything that I was looking for. There was a gym, a game room where you could play cards or billiards, or other activities you could do like board games and puzzles. They had tables and chairs that could be moved around for a variety of different things. It's close to a community center, there are busses right directly from the facility, and they'll pick you up and take you over to the community center that had all kinds of activities. They had those emergency pull things in the bathroom for if you have a problem and you need help immediately.

I went to Cascades Village. It seems really congested, otherwise it seemed nice. It was good, it was quite clean, there was variety. The staff, they were good, they were friendly. I didn't think there was a hospital around, but there's definitely other venues around.

My friend moved into Cascades Village. He's doing good, he's enjoying his time there, and he has probably more space than he's had in quite some time. It's a good fit for him, and I'm pleased. I was there Monday night. It looks like a great facility, and people are nice; it's a good thing. The staff has done great, but apparently there's a management turnover from one company to another within the last few weeks, so it's hard to tell, but we've had no problems. They have a pool table when you can use it, a lovely gazebo outside, a lot of stuff inside can't really be used; like a library, but it's really quite pleasant. They held at least one meeting to get residents voting.

Cascades Village is very good. They are very accommodating and it's very easy to get around. The staff is very helpful. My room is a bit small, but I'll get you by. You dine in your apartment. There are so many activities, like exercises and leisure time.

We toured Cascades Village. We looked at the whole building and 1 apartment that was open at that moment. There was nice library. There was a group area where the residents would have people come and share games and some other social activities that the residents could participate in. The room itself was spacious, and the area was kind of tucked away. It felt like a nice protected spot. There was a shopping mall close by, and there was a shuttle that would take them shopping. The personnel was very friendly. We spoke to a couple of residents, and they had positive things to say. However, they really did not have any room available at that moment, so we could not really move forward with getting a spot there. This was a moderate to modest income level. It was right up to the highway, so there weren't a lot of places that she could walk freely, but I thought it was a good value for the money.
