This past summer and autumn, my mother was in Gilchrist Hospice at Lorien. Except for some communication issues early on, the joint team of Gilchrist and Lorien listened to my every concern and were compassionate every step of her journey. My impression dramatically improved as these devoted and dedicated professionals went about their daily tasks. On the day my mom passed, they treated her loss and my mom like their own family. The compassion toward me was genuine. Thanks to all at Lorien and Gilchrist for the support!

We have chosen Lorien Bel Air for my mother. The reason I chose them was because they have an option if you run out of money. After a certain period of time, they switch over to Medicaid. The place is very nice and very clean. It looks like a hotel when you walk in. The rooms are nice, big, and spacious. They have their own bathroom, nice little kitchenette, and very spacious closet. They have activities all the time. They have an ice cream shop, and they have a little ice cream social. They have a piano. They have different rooms all over. They have nail care, and they have a beauty salon. They do all kinds of things. They have options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Lorien Bel Air was a very nice, modern, well-kept, and beautiful facility. My two daughters are just living nearby, so location would be good for me. Some residents were listening to live music while we were there. The staff we met was very nice. The rooms were very attractive, very neat, and clean.

My parents are planning to move into Lorien Bel Air. It has a lot of community space, so that they can spread out. We saw empty rooms, and they seemed spacious and like they would be nice. They had nice views from the big windows. Their dining area was nice, but maybe could use updating; it seemed OK. The place seemed a little quiet. They had activities. They had a nice ice cream parlor. Potentially it would be nice, but we never were there when anything was going on. The staff that we met seemed friendly. The recruiting person was very nice, answered any questions, and was very easy to talk to. The coordinator that does the intake for the residents seemed nice and easy to work with. They had a courtyard and the front porch was nice, but other than that there weren't really too many grounds.

Lorien Bel Air was great, clean, modern, efficient, and seemed very good. The staff seemed efficient, and the rooms were clean and small but fine. They have a full calendar of activities, like a bus that takes people out to lunch and outings, live music, and entertainment, Bible groups, and bingo.

What I liked about Lorien Bel Air was that it was new. It had various levels of care from assisted living to skilled nursing. I got to look at the rooms available for assisted living and they were okay. They had a common dining room and it was fairly large. It's closer to a hospital.
