"I toured Bickford of Greenwood. I liked the fact that it was small. They only had 16 beds, and all were private in their memory care. It was very homey and family-oriented, which was wonderful. I thought it was a beautiful facility, but it's a little bit higher, out of the price range. The staff was very informative and caring. They're very good at what they are doing. Their goal is to try to incorporate everyone into the common area. They're set up like somebody's very large living room, and off to one side was a big bar with a full kitchen over in the corner. So, it's almost like people gathering at the bar at their own home, and I thought that was a nice touch."

"Magnolia Springs SouthPointe was my top pick. However, it wouldn't work for my sister because of its openness, and she needs to be restricted. I like the openness of it and there is a lot of light as you walk in. The cafeteria has light. I would go there, I probably couldn't afford it, but I would go there myself. My sister is college-educated, and she was finding a hard time with conversations with different people where she is now, and so she would like to be challenged conversationally, and that might be available there more because of this mix of people. Cody, who gave me the tour, took his time and was very knowledgeable. He said hello to people by name and that impressed me. He is just the marketing guy, but he knew the people and that was very good. They have a chef and I looked at the menus and those are very impressive. I think my sister would be more interested in what I saw there than other institutions that I've seen. The facility is only six years old, so it has that clean feel and there are no smells like you would get in some of the more hospital-like facilities. After looking at eight of them either virtually or in person, it seemed like it had everything that all the other ones have including the salon. They have a little gift shop or a little mini-store, and not all of them have that, and so that was nice. Almost all of them had a TV room, but theirs was more comfortable and more theater-like."

"I toured Rosegate Commons, and they were very nice. I got to meet with some of the residents, and we had lunch with a couple of them and just got a little feel for the place, and it was very homey. If I go into independent living and need help later on, then I'm already there, so it makes it easier for my family, too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, and I was very impressed with the facility."

"I was very impressed with the entire facility of The Wellington at Southport and the lady I talked to. If I had my choice right now, it would be them. I think this is a place that my friend could adjust to. The staff was very friendly and very nice. I liked the structure of the building. I think it's going to be something that she would do well in. It was very clean and it smelled very clean. It's not a brand-new facility, but it's very well-kept. The rooms are more than comfortable as far as the size, and the closet space and the other little storage are good."

"Altenheim Senior Living is a wonderful place. The staff is very attentive. Mom gets good food and good care. She has a nice studio and it's clean. The memory care facility where she's at is very secure."

"I moved to Walker Place. I got to choose my room, that's one thing. The price was mid-range, lower for a licensed place. It has Carson cabinetry, a small refrigerator, a freezer, a microwave, and a sink, and then there's the dining area here between the kitchen and the living room. There's a big double window and a small window showing the exit, and it ain't shaded, it has lines and the walls are neutral, but they can be painted. You can put anything you want to, there's no lockdown time. You can come and go. They probably don't tell everybody right off the bat, but they allow liquor in your room. So long as you don't start a fuss with anyone, you can smoke out in the yard. The building goes around in a circle and in the center of that circle, there is only exit in and out. It's all enclosed. You can have a pet for a pet deposit. I have my cat and you can also have a small dog. You get three meals a day. You can have them delivered to your room or eat in the dining room. You could pick your meals off the menu selection for the day, for you to order for the next day. I have a walk-in shower and we had plenty of activities."

"I'm currently living at Worthington Place in Camby, and it's great. It's very clean, and I'm quite content with the size of my room. The staff members are very nice people to deal with, and they take care of the problem. The food is very good, too. For activities, they have exercises, play bingo, and do a word search."

"My dad will move into Meadow Lakes, and I like that assisted living is separate from full-time living. It's very clean and roomy. He can go in and out as he pleases and walk the grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a barber salon there and a doctor who came in. They have lots of activities, laundry facilities on site, and transportation to community events. It has a family-style dining area."

"Independence Village is a very nice, comforting facility in Columbus, IN. Every time I visit the facility, I notice the staff is always interacting and willing to provide any type of support to the residents. They offer many activities on a daily basis for the residents. The care seekers are very polite and helpful as well."

"My wife is in memory care at this wonderful home for her. We originally move her into another facility that had an excellent reputation and was the most expensive in town, but went looking after a number of bad experiences. Now everything that was not good at the first place is excellent at Greenbriar. I recently recommended that they take a group photo and name the entire staff "employee of the month." Everyone seems to like their job and they take such good care of the residents. My wife and I enjoy the court yards and patios when I visit; some afternoons we just rock away in the rocking chairs, enjoy the gardens, and watch the ducks and other critters in the ponds. All this and at 1/3 less cost than we paid at the first place. They have put my mind at ease as well as taking care of my wife."

"We toured Traditions of Columbus for our mom and I thought it was fabulous. We enjoyed the visit, it was nice. The facility was clean, they were very well taken care of, and very nice. The person who gave the tour was just wonderful, she still calls me just the other day, and any question we had, she was right there with the answer. She offered that if there's anything we need to ask, to just call her, she's very helpful. The residents were playing bingo and they were having a good time, they were in a big room. I wasn't able to eat there but their dining area looked great. They made a meal for somebody that was coming to get it, she showed it to me and it looked good. All the staff members that we ran into were wonderful, they were nice and helpful with anything."

"Me and my four siblings are beyond happy that my 99-year-old mom is at home at Cumberland Trace!! Every single fear we have had for her well-being has been overcome, knowing she is at such a wonderful place. We toured many facilities, but CT was the one that stood above the rest and we got on a waiting list to get Mom in. It took only about three months, well worth the wait. Everything about this place is top notch. The people who have charge over the residents are caring and attentive and truly kind. The staff know Mom by name, even the servers in the dining hall. The residents too are so wonderful. My mom is so happy! We are so relieved for her. She had been living alone independently for too long. Now she has friends to hang out with and her days are not lonely. On any given day she has fun things to do almost all day. She's had manicures, done craft projects, listened to music... I come visit her and we do social events together too, like Milkshake Monday and Cinnamon Roll Social. I'm making friends with mom's friends too. Her apartment is really perfect... she loves the open concept, airy and roomy. Big windows for lots of daylight. Everything is so convenient for her. I just can't say enough about the level of care and kindness at CT. Her physical/health needs are met and I don't have to worry about her. If she ever needs anything, someone is right there for her. I have such gratitude my mom is there finally! And in speaking with other residents who have been there for years, they have nothing but good things to say about CT so that also is encouraging and confirms we made the right choice for my mom. This was the only place we looked at that even had a waiting list so that tells you something."
