"My dad is a resident of Grand Victorian of Greenwood, and they know him here. The staff is great. We've gotten to know a lot of them on a personal level. We had hugs and that sort of thing. They're all very caring and quick with the warmth, so we appreciate that. When they made the change, they made some changes to the food. It's the same chef, but they used to have Coke machines here. So they would bring them Cokes, but they've taken those out. Sometimes, the soup options they used to offer variety. Now, it's almost always either they have a choice of chicken noodle or tomato soup. When my dad first came here, he was just level one assisted. We've got the room right outside. They've got a gazebo that residents are welcome to go and sit on, and it's got a pond. They put the fountain on in the summer for people who are into ducks, geese, and a lot of animals. We've got pictures of the turtle and the egrets, and we've got bird feeders outside of his windows that he's always taking pleasure in, not so much anymore since he's advanced to a different level, but the grounds are nice. The common areas are nice, and they've got activities. They do bingo. They've got the activities director, and they take trips. It's got everything he needs. Every Wednesday, there are cocktails and concerts. So people will come in and play instruments or sing or bands or whatever; however, it's beyond his capabilities right now to engage in that kind of thing."

"Magnolia Springs SouthPointe was my top pick. However, it wouldn't work for my sister because of its openness, and she needs to be restricted. I like the openness of it and there is a lot of light as you walk in. The cafeteria has light. I would go there, I probably couldn't afford it, but I would go there myself. My sister is college-educated, and she was finding a hard time with conversations with different people where she is now, and so she would like to be challenged conversationally, and that might be available there more because of this mix of people. Cody, who gave me the tour, took his time and was very knowledgeable. He said hello to people by name and that impressed me. He is just the marketing guy, but he knew the people and that was very good. They have a chef and I looked at the menus and those are very impressive. I think my sister would be more interested in what I saw there than other institutions that I've seen. The facility is only six years old, so it has that clean feel and there are no smells like you would get in some of the more hospital-like facilities. After looking at eight of them either virtually or in person, it seemed like it had everything that all the other ones have including the salon. They have a little gift shop or a little mini-store, and not all of them have that, and so that was nice. Almost all of them had a TV room, but theirs was more comfortable and more theater-like."

"I toured Rosegate Commons, and they were very nice. I got to meet with some of the residents, and we had lunch with a couple of them and just got a little feel for the place, and it was very homey. If I go into independent living and need help later on, then I'm already there, so it makes it easier for my family, too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, and I was very impressed with the facility."

"My dad will move into Meadow Lakes, and I like that assisted living is separate from full-time living. It's very clean and roomy. He can go in and out as he pleases and walk the grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a barber salon there and a doctor who came in. They have lots of activities, laundry facilities on site, and transportation to community events. It has a family-style dining area."

"I'm living in Pinnacle West. I can't walk up and down steps because I would fall, and I can't get up then. The problem is I have a scooter and I can't use it because the elevator is out. It's been out for about a month. It worked for two days. Now they're telling me that it's gonna be another two-and-a-half to three months before it gets fixed. My problem is getting outdoors to do anything. There are four wings on the unit, with ten per wing. I'm on the second floor, and there's a third floor. The problem is that the rent is high for not getting outside and not getting to do anything. The only good thing is that I have Walmart, which brings the food to the door. I'm a loner, and I don't usually have friends, but here, everybody's nice. The people are great. I haven't met anybody that I dislike. Unless I need something, I don't see the staff. The only reason the last week that I've seen staff is because they come to take my garbage out. They come and get my key and go get my mail. They won't help me up and down steps because if I fell and got hurt, they'd be liable, but when you had groceries or something, they would bring them. Other than that, I have no problem with the staff. They're always good to me. They have a hairdresser, a hair salon, and a nurse's area, so if you get a cold or cut yourself, you can go in there rather than go to the hospital. They have weights and stuff for doing lifting and working out. It's pretty good. They have a staff that comes in and cleans. They do the hallways and the intake area when you first come in the door. They do a pretty good job. It's pretty busy here. They have bingo in the morning at 10:00, for just the tenants. Two or three times a week, they have bingo at the main hall with real money. They have special activities for different things. They have a bus that comes every day. It sometimes goes into town, to Wal-Mart, and uptown."

"I have moved into Encore 55+ Boutique Apartments - Plainfield. They have activities. They meet three days a week and have chair yoga. They have events. For History Month, they have a speaker come in and talk about Martin Luther King. They make it where you have to get to know your neighbors and they check on you, which I did not know. I got sick, and then one of my neighbors came and said, 'We didn't see you. We're just coming down to check on you,' so that was very nice, and they didn't have to do that. It's a very friendly and very active community. They have gone to the casinos, they make trips, they have cook-ins where we all bring something, and we also have fellowship down in the community area. It's a very welcoming community, and I like that. I have a two-bedroom-two-bathroom. I have a guest bedroom, which I like because now I can have my mom come to visit instead of having a one-bedroom. It's very spacious. I have plenty of room. It's very accommodating, and I love it. I have a nice little balcony. I could put a little table and chair out there. It's beautiful. I have a view of the courtyard, the tennis courts, and the pond. We also have a koi pond with little koi fish. We have an outdoor kitchen, and you're more than welcome to use it. It's just beautiful. And I like that everyone decorates for the holidays. It's Valentine's Day, and people have their wedding pictures out, and it's just beautiful. I love it. It's wonderful. The staff members check on you. We cook our own meals here, but they have a service that comes in twice a month. We have everything. We have our own movie theater, a yoga studio, a full-scaled gym, a hair salon, and housekeeping. They offer us free wine and beer every day. So, if you drink, you can go down and socialize and have wine and beer. You don't have to leave if you don't want to. It's a little expensive, but it is what it is because you pretty much have everything. Utility-wise, the only thing you pay for is your electricity. The internet is free except if you upgrade it, it's $10. So it's really up to you, but everything is covered."

"Traditions at Reagan Park is absolutely beautiful. The staff was very helpful. The only drawback that makes them be number two is the location of the independent living. It's not as convenient for people to get to the dining room. It's absolutely the most beautiful one I've ever seen in my life, but it's because it's separate. It appears to me that it could be difficult in winter or bad weather for people to go to the dining room or to the activities."

"I like that Sugar Grove Senior Living is very clean. It doesn't smell. My parents have a very nice, spacious, and clean apartment there. My father says the food is delicious. They have tons of activities. They have different church services, Bible studies, games, and music. They even do coloring, depending on what the level of needs are for the different people. They have physical therapy. So, whether it's required for them to have it or not, they have it available to them. If a person just wants to go exercise, they can do that. They just need to keep the grounds better. Their staff is awesome. They are wonderful people."

"I was very impressed with Harmony at Avon. That was number one on my list of the three that I visited. I was very impressed with the director. She's very empathetic. I really liked it. If my niece moved there, I was encouraged to come and have a meal with her and interact with other residents. The food smelled good. I actually know someone who is there and that person is very thrilled with it also. There were lots of activities that are offered, especially during the week. They go places, they have crochet groups, and they have all kinds of stuff. The staff was very good."

"I toured Traditions at Solana. Their price was competitive. It was very fair for a couple of other places that were of similar quality. So the pricing was very good. They were very willing to work with me on that. As soon as I walked into the building, I got this very homey kind of cozy vibe. It is a very comfortable feeling. The facility was very clean. All the staff I interacted with were very kind and polite, especially towards the residents because I got to take a peek behind the doors into memory care and see what all that looked like. I just liked the general attitude of the environment. The apartment looks nice. It was very well taken care of. It didn't look like a rundown or anything. It was very up-to-date and the safety features were all there when they needed to be and all that stuff. It was a very adequate facility."

"The Commons on Meridian is bright. It's not dark at all. They have good-sized rooms. They have a nice kitchen and bathroom area. The common areas are very nice too. They will do laundry for you or you can go to their resident laundry area if you like to do your own. They have a courtyard that's very nice. They offer respite care for a month minimum. The community was quiet, but they have a movie room for residents to go and watch movies together. They have an arts and crafts area. It was very nice. The dining room was not very nice, but everybody was very friendly. The sales director was very accommodating. The people that we met in the hallway all said hello, and so it seemed very friendly."
