I lived at The Oaks at Plainfield for two-and-a-half years. I had a one-bedroom, one-bath. They have some smaller units. They don't have anything any bigger, but they supplied all utilities and three meals a day, so it was very nice. I have nothing against the people there, but their pricing is getting outrageous. The people living on Social Security can't afford that. Even if it did include utilities and three meals a day, they don't make that kind of money. There are a lot of people there that really should have been in assisted living instead of independent, but they didn't have any place to go. There wasn't any place available for them, so they were there. The staff was very nice and welcoming. They kept it very clean. They would come in and clean your room and do your laundry for you if you wanted them to. They brought my food to my room, but they had a really nice dining room. They have a theater, a beauty salon, and a very limited workout room, nothing like big equipment, but if it were physical therapy, they could help you with that. They had a crafts room. The food will keep you alive, but it is not the dietary food that those people need. We got a lot of pasta, a lot of sweets, and all of this other stuff. I am not a picky person, so I ate a lot. Some days, it was really good. There were three cooks while I was there, and I'm sure it's because they don't pay them very much. It's not bad, but there was a lot of wasted food because they would give us meat, and a lot of these people couldn't even cut it up. They're not thinking about the people they're cooking for. We had very few vegetables. They did field trips. They would take them on a shopping spree to Walmart. Once in a while, they would come to some place outside, like botanical gardens or something like that. Inside, there's not a lot. They tried to do exercise stuff, but people wouldn't do it. Even chair exercises, they didn't want to try. Their staff was very helpful. They listened to us, and they did the best that they could. It was just that the quality did not justify the price.

I went to The Oaks at Plainfield. It was very nice. The apartments were very small. The biggest that I could get in there was a full size, and I have a queen-size bed, so it wouldn't give me much space. So it was very small, but it was very nice. They offer meals and stuff, but that wasn't what I was looking for. Besides being small, they were very nice and accommodating. They provide meals, but it wasn't what I was looking for. It was too small and cramped for what they were asking for. They have one- and two-bedrooms. The staff members who accommodated me were wonderful. They're very nice and very upfront about everything.

I will be moving into The Oaks at Plainfield. They had fantastic staff and lots of amenities. The place was very clean and it had everything I needed. They had lots of activities and lots of menu choices. They had a cafeteria, a movie theater, an exercise room, and a community area with a fireplace. The staff was caring. They explained everything and gave me the information I needed.

The people at The Oaks at Plainfield were really nice. That place was beautiful as soon as I pulled up the driveway, but it was just a little too expensive. If I could have afforded it, I would have taken a shot there. It's a ranch style living with green grasses around. They had everything from a pool to a little patio over there. It almost looked like a brand new place. They also have a little breakfast bar there in the mornings.

I went to tour. The staff was great. She still texted and invited me to things. I would move in there in a second, if they had a garage and a two-bedroom and den; but, they don't. It was clean. They have a game room, a movie theater, and a private dining room that you can get when family comes. I did taste the food there, and I met the chef. I like the activities, and I like the three meals a day. I met some of the residents there. It was great. They were friendly, personable, and welcoming.

I chose this one. For one thing, it's very clean and it's close to my son, which is the reason why I'm moving to Plainfield. I like the people that were there that I spoke with. It's comparable to other places for independent living. I just like it. They have everything available that you're going to need. They even have washers and dryers in their apartments. You get three meals a day and 24-hour security. It's very nice. It's perfect.
