"The studio room is relatively small; however, as it has turned out is plenty of space for our mom. My mother has been in the Memory Care area for 2 1/2 years. We are so very happy with her care and treatment. They all seem to care so much and do absolutely everything they can to please her and help her. Anything we call about or ask for help with - they are more than willing to help us. We feel very lucky that we were able to get our mom in at The Harrison. The food looks decent and it is a very sizable serving."

"Meadow Lakes is very nice. The staff is very informative because we were there not only to look over a facility since we were never in one. It is very nice and very clean. We walked through the whole facility, it looked to be nice, and the place is very clean. She showed me around like an exercise room and various other things. She explained what they have and meetings to keep the people busy. One of the main concerns was the financing we had available to work with. So that is more of fact finding information than anything else, and we got some good answers. My brother and I were trying to become educated on the process. "

"My mother was in assisted living at Independence Village West of Zionsville for 2 1/2 years. She received wonderful care from not only the nursing staff, but the people in the dining hall and the administrative staff. Although no place is perfect, I feel like she couldn’t have been in a better place. She was loved and treated with dignity and respect. It is a beautifully appointed and clean facility that never smelled like many other nursing homes. They were also very supportive of me, as her caregiver. Everyone was a blessing."

"I like the memory care at Traditions at North Willow better than the other place we saw. It's spacious, the rooms are big, and they do a lot of activities and things of that nature. The people who work there are amazing. The rooms are all private. That's why they're a little more pricey, so we're trying to get my grandfather a Medicaid waiver. But it's definitely worth it. They have their own bathrooms and showers, the eating area is really big, and the TV areas and everything are really big and wide. They have a really big, nice courtyard where they have people perform sometimes, and they have a visiting area. So that's really nice. They do a lot of arts and crafts. They have celebrations for every religion and celebrate all the holidays. They would have people perform music for them. There are a lot of different activities."

"The Wellington at Southport had more rooms than apartments. It was homier and seemed smaller. It had big rooms, which I really liked for my mom. The apartment would not work for her, but a single room with a private shower and private bath would. The one thing that stood out to me was they had like a spa room where the residents could go in and actually take a bath, instead of taking a shower in their rooms. "

"Individual rooms are spacious. Residents spend most of their time in the common areas enjoying a variety of activities. I loved the holiday celebrations, especially when I would see the videos. I remember one in particular when my mom was dancing with a staff member. The common areas are decorated lovely. Residents can move from one residential side to the other. Some residents like to walk and this allows them freedom of movement. The outdoor gardens provides many places to have family visits. I truly enjoyed visiting in the garden area. My mother lived there for 2 years. She arrived two days before the pandemic shutdown. Those were tough times for all but Grandbrook connected us through Facetime calls. That was so nice and thoughtful. The staff was always considerate and helpful. You could tell many loved my mom. I found Grandbrook to be a caring community with a heart!"

"I have been a caretaker for my husband for nearly 17 years due to a brain aneurysm and brain damage and have been very particular about my husbands care. When I travel I have tried various locations for respite care and have for the most part, been very displeased for one reason or another. That is until I experienced American Village. I was so impressed with the staff, the cleanliness of the facility and how very well kept it is. It is an older facility but you would never know walking in. Freshly painted and very welcoming. I have been fighting the need to place my husband in a nursing home full time but I can honestly say I have found a wonderful home for him there. He spent two weeks in respite care and had not one complaint. For him that is something. I am so pleased to have found this great facility "

"I thought Ritten House is very nice. I love the outdoor areas where my mom could go if she chooses. I thought the rooms are nice. There are a variety of sizes from a studio to a two person rooms. The people that I spoke to there were very pleasant and very helpful. I didn't find anything negative. They have a really nice theater. There wasn't much going on at the time because I ended up there just about a little after supper. I didn't have anything to compare it with, but I really thought it was nice. "

"Altenheim is very nice, and my in-laws are living there. They have a one-bedroom apartment that’s quite roomy and very nice. It was bigger than in a lot of other facilities. The staff is wonderful. They have different levels of care. They have dance every day, exercise class, and they do outings. The food is pretty nice; they have their basic full menu, but they also offer a separate menu as an alternative. They have four or five dining facilities, and you can go whichever one you want. They have about 32 acres of land area, including a walking path and a pond you can fish in. My in-laws feel very welcome and well cared for. "

"Bickford of Greenwood is on the top of our list. We felt that it was very homey. It doesn't look institutionalized. The lady was very friendly, very informative, and helpful. She tended to our emotional needs. The residents were all welcoming. It didn't feel like I was in a facility. They have a walking club, which would help my mother. They have cards, bingo, and movie night. The priest from the church that my mother goes to comes down once a week for communion, and that's important."
