"I visited Brookdale Urbana. I was looking for the memory care part for my husband, and it was clean, neat, and looked welcoming. The person who accommodated me was very nice and very informative. I was free to ask questions, and she showed me around freely. The dining area looked fine. They were just getting ready to have a meal when I was there, and there were several tables. The residents were up at the tables and looked like they were all getting ready for food. They looked well cared for there. There was a nurse who was getting ready to pass some meds, and it looked fine. The outside areas, the parking, and the building's appearance looked fairly new. I would say it was very nice looking."

"We moved into Bridle Brook Assisted Living because it's closer to where our family doctor is. It's just as nice as all the other places that we visited. The rooms are reasonable size, very clean, and freshly painted. The lighting fixtures are very nice. The staff members seem also very helpful and supportive. Amenities include cleaning up your apartment once a week, laundry once a week if you want, and three meals a day. They have activities scheduled every day. I think there's a shuttle bus that will take people to Champaign. The food is excellent. The facility is lovely. Value for money is fair and reasonable when compared with other facilities offering the same quality of care."

"My friend moved in. She's loving it there. She's a very shy, keep to yourself kind of person, but she's out watching movies and doing tai chi; it's wonderful. It's very clean and the food is wonderful. We had a couple of meals with her. I was very impressed, people were sweet, and I liked it a lot. The size and the layout of the apartment is very appropriate for just one person. It's a handicap accessible room with a larger bathroom, and the way the sink is set up she can get underneath with her wheelchair or standing up. They have all kinds of things, they bake, they do crafts, they watch movies, they do tai chi, she has physical therapy, they play cards, they bowl, they have music groups come in, preachers of different sorts come in, they go on outings, and they go out to eat one day. It's high cost, but it's very much worth it, and it's 30 miles closer to home."

"We're moving mom to Arbor Rose of Monticello. I know people who work there, and I've heard good things from people that have had family members there with Alzheimer's. We've already visited, signed the contract, and we're moving her in tomorrow. I was so impressed. I was only able to go into half of the building. I had a smartphone, and they did a virtual tour with it on one-half of the building, and that's for the rehab half. The half that mom is going to be on is beautiful, and has bright colors to help stimulate their minds. They have activities every day. They have exercise every day. They have a very big area, and a hallway that's painted by the owner's daughter, that's very stimulating to the mind. Since they can't go outside with this Covid, they're doing everything possible to keep them stimulated, keep them moving, and keep their minds working instead of sitting there or letting them watch TV. The other half that I took a tour into were the rooms, bedrooms, the common area, everything. The staff answered every single question. They gave me even more information that I didn't know about her being with dementia. They continuously ask, "What is your mom like? What is she not like?" I was very impressed. It's a beautiful facility. They have a cook. Once this Covid thing is over, we can come in every day and eat lunch with her. Once a month, they have a family get-together, and they have a buffet set out so everybody can come in, talk and socialize."

"The staff at Amber Glen Alzheimer's Special Care Center is wonderful. They're very forthcoming with information, very helpful, and have answered all my questions. They take a phone call every time I call. My husband's room is very clean. They provide all the linens, so his bed is always clean and changed. It's very well decorated and very cheerful. He has a roommate, but it's quite adequate for two people. I think what they're charging for all these places is freaking criminal. It's way, way too high. They have a spa and a beauty salon. The common rooms are beautiful, and they have fireplaces and TVs. They have a minister who comes in every Sunday and does church. The hallways are super wide. Nobody has to run into anything. It's wonderful."
