Overview of Bridle Brook Assisted Living
All of our residents come from a variety of backgrounds and have many life experiences to share with staff and new friends. The average age of our residents is 87. Every Tuesday we go on a lunch outing to a different restaurant in the Mahomet/Champaign-Urbana area. A lot of our residents enjoy playing cards - namely euchre! You can always find groups of residents in our many different common areas doing different activities. We have a group of ladies that can be found regularly walking the halls to get their steps in or utilizing our exercise bikes while watching daytime television. Bingo is also popular along with Wii Bowling. Every Friday we have a "Wine before you dine" happy hour in our front lobby where residents can enjoy an assortment of complimentary wine (non alcoholic choices are also available) as well as a stunning fruit, cheese and cracker tray. Our Soda Shoppe is also a huge hit! Open daily from 1p-3p serving up classic tunes on the juke box and a variety of ice cream.
In our memory care we offer a variety of stimulating activities. We have various live/interactive musical entertainment that comes and performs for our residents. We also have therapy animals that visit us. Local girl scout troops as well as other children in the community come and play games and do activities with our residents. Our residents enjoy doing puzzles, card games and dominos. Painting and other arts and crafts are popular too. Trivia is a good way to stimulate the mind. One popular trivia game is "finish the song lyric". Staff will sing the first part and residents chime in to finish!
Here at The Waterford at Bridle Brook we offer an assortment of activities that enrich our resident's lives mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. We have a baking club that meets once a week to create different goodies for all to enjoy. Several health agencies do monthly informative health talks here. A few of the local churches come by to do Sunday serve, bible studies and the like. Billiards club is a great way to show off your skills on our pool table, or perhaps do a fun craft with our Activity Director. Movies in our theater are always fun with fresh popped popcorn. Every month we have a themed social where families are invited to attend. These are fun and festive with a menu that is sure to impress.
Our staff is very involved at meal times. They help to ensure residents are able to have a wonderful dining experience offering assistance while maintaining the highest level of independence possible.
We are conveniently located next to a Carle Clinic and Christie Clinic, as well as the Mahomet Public Library. We offer transportation to these places and many more in Mahomet including Dollar General and Walgreens. Our transportation is offered daily Monday through Friday by appointment. We also travel to Champaign Urbana for stores and appointments as well.
Our Dietary Director has over 20 years experience in the culinary arts and it shows. Every meal is carefully prepared using fresh ingredients and are loaded with flavor. It is true what they say that people "eat with their eyes" first and our dietary department does an excellent job of plating the food - presentation is important. We serve three meals a day in a restaurant style dinning room. Our residents come in and sit wherever they want and our professional dining staff takes their drink and food orders. At each of our three meals there is a "feature" meal and if the resident decides they do not want it they can order off of the "any-time" menu. Some typical breakfast foods include French toast, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs your way, sausage and bacon. Lunch examples include crab cakes with hollandaise sauce, maple glazed sweet potatoes and creamed peas. A supper example is BBQ rib patty sandwich, sweet potato fries and brown sugar baked beans.
Our community has security cameras throughout the common areas of the building. There are handrails along all of the walls. The exterior doors require a personalized four digit pin to gain access to the building. Here at the Waterford at Bridle Brook the safety and security of our residents is a top priority.
We have a community Facebook page that highlights different fun things we have done and announces upcoming events at the community. Our wellness director also maintains contact with families in regards to their loved ones health and care. There is also a monthly newsletter that is distributed.

We moved into Bridle Brook Assisted Living because it's closer to where our family doctor is. It's just as nice as all the other places that we visited. The rooms are reasonable size, very clean, and freshly painted. The lighting fixtures are very nice. The staff members seem also very helpful and supportive. Amenities include cleaning up your apartment once a week, laundry once a week if you want, and three meals a day. They have activities scheduled every day. I think there's a shuttle bus that will take people to Champaign. The food is excellent. The facility is lovely. Value for money is fair and reasonable when compared with other facilities offering the same quality of care.

We had an in-person tour at Bridle Brook Assisted Living's memory care. The facilities were beautiful, and everything was very nice and clean. The memory care rooms themselves were very small. I think you couldn't fit much in there except for a hospital bed, so I didn't love that. Also, the person who gave us the tour was not the regular person who usually does that, so she was not able to answer all of our questions. I asked about activities and for an activity schedule, and she couldn't provide that. She referred us to somebody else for a lot of questions. The tour was also at 4:30, and she seemed very kind of rushed and anxious to get it over with, being it was the end of the day. I wouldn't say it was a great tour, but it seems like a great facility. They had a salon and a library. They have a little area they call a soda shop that is open for ice cream and snacks. I believe they had a craft room or area, too. However, it's a little ways away from where we lived, so the location wasn't ideal.

We toured the Bridle Brook Assisted Living. We liked the appearance. It was kind of an upbeat place. It was nice, clean, totally new, and updated. The appearance was just nice. The rooms were nice. I saw one room. It was a studio, and it was a very nice room. They took you to places outside the facility. Now and then, they had bingo and some games. They also had stuff for the women to do like crochet and stuff like that.

My friend is at Bridle Brook Assisted Living. It is a beautiful facility, but they don't have enough staff. Whoever takes care of the insurance and that kind of stuff didn't do the job they were supposed to. Poor communication. I didn't have a whole lot of connection with the staff other than the office person, and that was poor. I think the nursing wasn't all that terrific either. There was so much overturn since my friend went in there. She said the food was great. She didn't participate in any of the activities, but they did have activities.

Bridle Brook seems to be okay. It seemed kind of nice but I didn't quite like the memory care side of it. It's kind of dark and dreary, and I didn't quite care for it. I went to see their assisted living and also saw the memory care side during the tour. The staff was very professional. They went over the cost and how much it's going to cost us. They probably just need to lighten up the memory care side to make it nicer. It just seemed kind of dark, it wouldn't be somewhere I would want to be.

I preferred it because the others were quite large. I definitely would recommend them. It's a very friendly community, both the residents and the workers. When we moved in, there were people who stopped by immediately to welcome my mother. She really enjoys it there a lot. The staff, in particular their head nurse and their activities director who did the tour, were excellent. She loves that she can order off a menu if she doesn't particularly care for the specials of the day. I've eaten there a few times, and it was very good. They have meetings with the residents to talk about the food and what they like and what they don't care for. They have quite a variety of activities.

It was very nice, and I think it's a newer community. The apartments were a nice size and the staff that I met were very nice and accommodating. They also have a courtyard in the middle of the apartments, it's like a square where they can go outside and do a little bit of gardening. It seems that they had more male residents in this community, so they have little clubs for the men, including a place where they can watch TV and have happy hour.

We placed Mother in Bridle Brook. It's excellent, and she loves it there. Everybody has been very nice in helping my brother and me. When you walk in her room, there’s a small kitchenette, a counter on the opposite side, and enough room in the living room for a cushioned chair, television, and a table. The bedroom is very spacious, with a large bathroom and walk-in shower. It's very nice. They have various exercise and dances, special dinners or lunches celebrating a holiday, and tea for Mother’s Day. They have a library, haircut, and nail facility on-site.

We went here and right now it is my first choice if my in-laws decided to move here to Illinois. It was very favorable. I liked the layout of the facility. I also liked the layout of the room. They seemed to be very accommodating for food and menus.

I was surprised at how many activities there were for my grandmother to interact with. There was a piano bar, coffee shop, soda stand, and other activity spaces. The rooms were nicely laid out and in good condition. The location while rural was not that far from Champaign where the rest of our family lives, so visiting was quite easy. The facility appears to be new and in good condition. The staff seemed to know my grandmother by name, and were very respectful of her considering how difficult her dementia can make interacting with her. She enjoys going to the music activities that they have at the facility, and observing the small garden that is outside her window. I haven't seen her have any major complaints about the facility, except for the fact that it isn't the home she was used too. She has over time grown to accept the space, and think it is good place for her.
