"I visited Magnolia Springs SouthPointe's independent living. It started out looking nice on the outside. On the inside, the first thing you see besides the office is the cafeteria. I guess you would call it the restaurant part. I liked it. I don't have anything right now to compare it with but I enjoyed my visit, and the people are really nice. The apartment I saw was fine, though small. Every one of them was small wherever you went. I only looked at a one-bedroom. It had one bedroom and a kind of living room and kitchen. The person who assisted me was a very nice guy, and he knew what he was talking about. He took plenty of time with me and was knowledgeable about their situation. The dining area looked nice from a distance, but I didn't go inside, and I didn't have any food. Their menu looked good. They have a barbershop and a beauty shop."

"Aspen Trace was very upscale and nice. The people were friendly, informative, and approachable. It was definitely a place I'd recommend to people to consider. For someone who wants a newer type of feel, it's definitely the place to go to. It's brand new so it's an absolutely beautiful facility. They had good food and activities. Support and encouragement of the residents really stood out."

"We liked Rosegate, and we viewed a cottage and apartment and we like both of them very well. We really liked the options at Rosegate, like the option of buying a meal plan or not, or the option of just buying individual meals if you wanted as you go in, just like in a restaurant. You also have the option of a standalone cottage or an apartment, and the location is also good for us. We pretty much like everything about it."

"I visited the memory care assisted living the other day and it was nice to see the staff engaged with these residents. I was visiting a family friend and I was very impressed with the beautiful memory care unit but more so with the caring nurses."

"My sister moved to Astral at Franklin. We like its cleanliness and atmosphere; from its appearance, you wouldn't recognize it as a senior home. The staff is very accommodating. They have outings and various things like entertainment and music that come in. The apartments are well-kept."

"I toured Worthington Place. I liked it. They have a couple of openings right now. It's just like a small apartment inside, and it is assisted living only. It seemed very nice and very clean. They have a little refrigerator, a freezer in all the individual apartments, and a microwave. It's not that they're unfurnished, you can bring your furniture. A queen size bed will fit there and many people had a queen size bed. They have it in the wall out and then they have a sofa across the end of the bed that kind of divides the living rooms and the bedrooms. Some of them do have one bedroom off to the side. The one I looked at was just all one space and they've got the walk-in showers. They're just even with the floor. It looked roomy. The ones that they showed us had furniture and stuff in them, and then they showed others without any furniture that way you could picture what you wanted to put in there and the way you wanted it. They have good views from their windows. I thought it was very well planned out, the way it was laid out. The staff was very nice, very helpful, and very informative. He was talking to us and just asked if there was anything else we wanted to see. He showed us the dining room and all the different places. They have an exercise room or physical therapy-type room. They had the space to get your hair done and everything, and then they had an outside area where if you want to go outside to that little table or just sit in some chairs and enjoy the air. They had some nice areas out there. I liked it a lot because they have a bus that takes people around to their doctor appointments or hospital or whatever, and if they do have trips and things that they can take if you want to go, they do that, and it just doesn't sound like you get bored there."

"Meadow Lakes is very similar to its sister community. We looked at their little cottages, and everything was basically the same as far as the sizes of the rooms. The only thing different was the location. They have a salon and a restaurant dining area, which is of course not open because of COVID. The staff member was very nice. She was a little late for our appointment, which was probably out of her control, but with the hot weather, the ladies got hot waiting around. It was pretty much full service as far as the accommodations for COVID. They deliver the residents' food from the restaurant to the individual housing because the dining room is closed, and I like that idea."

"I was at Cumberland Trace and I was very happy there. They had good food, and you didn't have somebody on top of you all the time putting needles and popping pills in you. It was a large place, but you don't have 25 CNAs running around down the halls all the time. I had a room and nobody bothered me. When I wanted something, they were there right away. The food was out-of-sight good. They had wonderful food. I went down to the dining area with a group of us at a table, and I ate three meals a day down there. Normally, I would have taken it in my room, but I just got up and went down there to eat. There was a beauty salon where I had my haircut while I was there. They had bingo games and I'm sure they make trips during the summer, but not while I was there. You had a menu, you told them what you wanted to eat, and they would do it. And if you don't like that, you just tell them you want something else, and they give you something else. They're really easy to work with. I felt very good about their care and services. I was very satisfied with all of the staff. I never saw anything that wasn't clean."

"I toured Traditions at Reagan Park. It was very nice. The staff who gave the tour was very friendly and knowledgeable. It's just that I felt hurried. I saw the menu, and it smelled good and looked good. The facility was very clean."

"My mom is on the waiting list at The Harrison. It's five-star. We like it. The staff is nice. The facility is nice. They have a lot of activities. They have crafts, they got bingo, and they have karaoke night. They got different stuff that they do every day. They play cards, too. They have a salon, and they have physical therapy. The rooms were nice. You can have a one-bedroom or a studio."

"I thought the one-bedroom, one-bath at Sugar Grove was pretty small and didn't like that there wasn't room for a dining table. I have yet to see the two-bedroom, one-bath, which is a little bit bigger. The staff member was very pleasant and knew what she was doing. It's the best one that I've seen so far. "

"My mother is in American Village and she is in the Lincoln Lodge area, which is an independent living area. She's been there almost five years now. It's very unique in that all of the residents live in their individual apartments, but they have group activities and group meals. It's a very comfortable living situation. Every single staff person is dedicated, committed, and involved. They all know every resident. It's very much a family type atmosphere there. My mom loves the meals. For my taste, I prefer a little healthier fare. I'm much more a health-conscious eater, but my mom absolutely loves the food there. When she first moved there, she had a lot more mobility. Her main complaint was there were so many things she wanted to do that she didn't have enough time to do them all. They have everything from bingo, painting, exercise classes, and group movie events. Just last Thursday, they had a live musical event where musicians came in and played music. It's a very wide variety of activities. It's very reasonable for the money that you spend because all of your expenses are included. They even have two days a week where they will provide transportation to appointments. Now that we are no longer under quarantine, they have regular visits to Myer and Kmart. They will take you just to about any place that you actually need to go."

"My dad recently moved to Fort Harrison Assited Living. What I have noticed since my dad moved in, the staff is very caring, the food is phenomenal, and you can see in the staff work how much they care about the residents. The management team is compassionate, caring and you can also notice they love what they do as well. Every time my family and I come to visit the ED door is always open and she make sure we feel welcome. Julie the BOM we love her, she is always helpful and don't mind going that extra mile to help anyone. I appreciate and glad I made the right decision to move my loved one to FH."
