The Best Assisted Living Communities in Johnson County, IN

"My sister has lived at Country Charm for 10 years now. WOW how time flies when things are going smoothly. My sister is happy, loves the staff and her apartment. Earlier this year she spent 9 weeks away, between the hospital, acute rehab hospital and acute rehab at a different facility. She had had a stoke and some other complications, but no matter what happen she continued to say, "I want to back home! I miss everyone." Home is Country Charm. She missed the staff, some even came to visit her while she away, she also missed her friends and her cat. I stated in communication with the DON and Administrator and they worked with me to make sure she was ready to come home. When she returned she moved into a different unit, just down the hall because it had already been updated and she loves it. I think Country Charm is updated units when they are vacant which seems to be very responsible. They are also upcated the facility withy new paint, flooring ect. That isn't an easy task when you have so many people who live there. I can not thank everyon for taking such good care of my sister, encouraging her and always looking out for her. One more thing, they therapy on site. It is an outside agency but they are wonderful and my sister loves going therapy. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our lives for the last ten years!"

"Magnolia Springs SouthPointe was my top pick. However, it wouldn't work for my sister because of its openness, and she needs to be restricted. I like the openness of it and there is a lot of light as you walk in. The cafeteria has light. I would go there, I probably couldn't afford it, but I would go there myself. My sister is college-educated, and she was finding a hard time with conversations with different people where she is now, and so she would like to be challenged conversationally, and that might be available there more because of this mix of people. Cody, who gave me the tour, took his time and was very knowledgeable. He said hello to people by name and that impressed me. He is just the marketing guy, but he knew the people and that was very good. They have a chef and I looked at the menus and those are very impressive. I think my sister would be more interested in what I saw there than other institutions that I've seen. The facility is only six years old, so it has that clean feel and there are no smells like you would get in some of the more hospital-like facilities. After looking at eight of them either virtually or in person, it seemed like it had everything that all the other ones have including the salon. They have a little gift shop or a little mini-store, and not all of them have that, and so that was nice. Almost all of them had a TV room, but theirs was more comfortable and more theater-like."

"I toured Rosegate Commons, and they were very nice. I got to meet with some of the residents, and we had lunch with a couple of them and just got a little feel for the place, and it was very homey. If I go into independent living and need help later on, then I'm already there, so it makes it easier for my family, too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, and I was very impressed with the facility."

"Altenheim Senior Living is a wonderful place. The staff is very attentive. Mom gets good food and good care. She has a nice studio and it's clean. The memory care facility where she's at is very secure."

The staff members are very nice people to deal with, and they take care of the problem. The food is very good, too. For activities, they have exercises, play bingo, and do a word search."

"My dad will move into Meadow Lakes, and I like that assisted living is separate from full-time living. It's very clean and roomy. He can go in and out as he pleases and walk the grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a barber salon there and a doctor who came in. They have lots of activities, laundry facilities on site, and transportation to community events. It has a family-style dining area."

"Me and my four siblings are beyond happy that my 99-year-old mom is at home at Cumberland Trace!! Every single fear we have had for her well-being has been overcome, knowing she is at such a wonderful place. We toured many facilities, but CT was the one that stood above the rest and we got on a waiting list to get Mom in. It took only about three months, well worth the wait. Everything about this place is top notch. The people who have charge over the residents are caring and attentive and truly kind. The staff know Mom by name, even the servers in the dining hall. The residents too are so wonderful. My mom is so happy! We are so relieved for her. She had been living alone independently for too long. Now she has friends to hang out with and her days are not lonely. On any given day she has fun things to do almost all day. She's had manicures, done craft projects, listened to music... I come visit her and we do social events together too, like Milkshake Monday and Cinnamon Roll Social. I'm making friends with mom's friends too. Her apartment is really perfect... she loves the open concept, airy and roomy. Big windows for lots of daylight. Everything is so convenient for her. I just can't say enough about the level of care and kindness at CT. Her physical/health needs are met and I don't have to worry about her. If she ever needs anything, someone is right there for her. I have such gratitude my mom is there finally! And in speaking with other residents who have been there for years, they have nothing but good things to say about CT so that also is encouraging and confirms we made the right choice for my mom. This was the only place we looked at that even had a waiting list so that tells you something."

"I like that Sugar Grove Senior Living is very clean. It doesn't smell. My parents have a very nice, spacious, and clean apartment there. My father says the food is delicious. They have tons of activities. They have different church services, Bible studies, games, and music. They even do coloring, depending on what the level of needs are for the different people. They have physical therapy. So, whether it's required for them to have it or not, they have it available to them. If a person just wants to go exercise, they can do that. They just need to keep the grounds better. Their staff is awesome. They are wonderful people."

"My dad recently moved to Fort Harrison Assited Living. What I have noticed since my dad moved in, the staff is very caring, the food is phenomenal, and you can see in the staff work how much they care about the residents. The management team is compassionate, caring and you can also notice they love what they do as well. Every time my family and I come to visit the ED door is always open and she make sure we feel welcome. Julie the BOM we love her, she is always helpful and don't mind going that extra mile to help anyone. I appreciate and glad I made the right decision to move my loved one to FH."

"We toured Bickford of Carmel. They were a top choice for us, so that's one possibility. However, they don't have nursing, but they will adjust their care level within their assisted living scope, which is a nice option. In other words, they'll charge you more and give you more care without putting you in a nursing home, and that's an excellent approach. It has a homey feel to it, and they had a system inviting family to be a part of a council where they meet regularly to try to improve whatever changes are needed. So, that was an exceptional approach. The staff who assisted us was terrific. He even offered to help with that search if we were looking at other things or other places, which was a reach-out thought concept."

"Hamilton Trace was a nice facility. The apartments were nice as well. The staff was very friendly. I like its convenience to where I live. So, it would be close for me to go and visit my dad if needed. I like that it's a bigger facility, because they tend to have memory care for Alzheimer's/dementia patients."

"I toured Grand Victorian of Zionsville East. My children live within 10 minutes of the place, and I'm very happy with the rooms. And I got a cat that I'm bringing with me there. The only thing I can't bring is my bird feeders, but that's okay because my son is an active bird feeder, so I'll give it to my son. And he is not that far from me, so I can go see him anytime I want. So I'm very pleased with this place. The staff answered everything. They've been very good to me. The size of the rooms is good. They're better than what I've got now. The upkeep of Grand Victorian is going better. It seems like everything looks good. I was really impressed with the facility. Everybody was friendly. Everybody was nice to me. I just felt wanted there. Regarding the food, I have kidney failure and heart failure, so there are a lot of things I'm not allowed to have, and I have to be very careful because it's landed me in the hospital a number of times. And Grand Victorian will offer me the diet that I'm allowed to have. I've seen the menu, and they serve a lot of chicken, a lot of fish, and a lot of salads. They serve a lot of the things that I'm allowed to have. The rooms are big. And that's good if you have an animal with you, and I got a cat. Everything looks good. I couldn't say anything bad about it. As for activities, they have activities, and they have trips that they take. They're active and I like to be active. I don't want to sit in my room all the time."
