"The studio room is relatively small; however, as it has turned out is plenty of space for our mom. My mother has been in the Memory Care area for 2 1/2 years. We are so very happy with her care and treatment. They all seem to care so much and do absolutely everything they can to please her and help her. Anything we call about or ask for help with - they are more than willing to help us. We feel very lucky that we were able to get our mom in at The Harrison. The food looks decent and it is a very sizable serving."

"My dad will move into Meadow Lakes, and I like that assisted living is separate from full-time living. It's very clean and roomy. He can go in and out as he pleases and walk the grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a barber salon there and a doctor who came in. They have lots of activities, laundry facilities on site, and transportation to community events. It has a family-style dining area."

"My mom moved to Independence Village of Zionsville West. I liked the way the memory care was laid out. It seemed very approachable and comfortable, and it reminded me a lot of what my mom would like. Knowing her preferences, it felt right. I also connected, I think, with the director of memory care, and some of the people that I met, for some reason connected with them. They do an excellent job. It's very well kept, very clean, and tidy. I've been there twice now when they've cleaned her room. It's a lovely job. The facility is really beautiful. It just seems like a lot of care is going into keeping the surroundings safe and comfortable. So far, she's been very active. There's something to do every day or every afternoon. She can pick and choose what she wants. She's gone to karaoke. She's watched a comedy show. They've taken her to breakfast with the little group. They have a birthday party. They had a piano player/singer come in. She sat and watched that. They baked a kind of cookie one day. It's very active, and she gets to pick and choose what she feels like doing. So far, she's done all of those. I've eaten and I've been there when she had lunch and dinner a few times and she gobbles it down. She's a good eater, so I think there's plenty of choice for her, and she seems very pleased with having no problems adjusting to the food that they're offering. I've been very impressed with how caring they are and sweet, whether it's kind of a helper staff versus the directors. Everybody's been very approachable. They have been sending me pictures of her doing some fun things. They had dogs come in twice now. The director took pictures and I got pictures with Mom and dogs. I think they're staying very attentive to engage the families. So I'm very pleased with the staff. There are other places less expensive, and yet there are others more expensive, so I would say they're kind of in the middle-high."

"Mom is currently at Zionsville Meadows. The place is good, and they take good care of her. I feel they could use more workers and they are understaffed, but they have been adequate at this point. The food seems fine. They do have interactive stuff and crafts. They also have people encouraging them to participate in their activities. They keep the residents occupied most of the time. The rooms are nice and spacious with good showers in them. Overall, they are OK other than they need more staff. "

"I toured Grand Victorian of Zionsville East. My children live within 10 minutes of the place, and I'm very happy with the rooms. And I got a cat that I'm bringing with me there. The only thing I can't bring is my bird feeders, but that's okay because my son is an active bird feeder, so I'll give it to my son. And he is not that far from me, so I can go see him anytime I want. So I'm very pleased with this place. The staff answered everything. They've been very good to me. The size of the rooms is good. They're better than what I've got now. The upkeep of Grand Victorian is going better. It seems like everything looks good. I was really impressed with the facility. Everybody was friendly. Everybody was nice to me. I just felt wanted there. Regarding the food, I have kidney failure and heart failure, so there are a lot of things I'm not allowed to have, and I have to be very careful because it's landed me in the hospital a number of times. And Grand Victorian will offer me the diet that I'm allowed to have. I've seen the menu, and they serve a lot of chicken, a lot of fish, and a lot of salads. They serve a lot of the things that I'm allowed to have. The rooms are big. And that's good if you have an animal with you, and I got a cat. Everything looks good. I couldn't say anything bad about it. As for activities, they have activities, and they have trips that they take. They're active and I like to be active. I don't want to sit in my room all the time."

"Altenheim is a Methodist home, and it was a very nice place. People are very kind and nice too. The rooms and apartments were nicely done. They played games, someone plays the piano, and they are having a memorial service at the end of this month. "

"My mom is in Bickford of Greenwood and it's been great. They're just like little apartments. She's staying in a 1-bedroom apartment. The staff all seem to be very helpful and I'm happy with the place. She's just not excited about the food, it's too fancy for her. They play bingo and they have all kinds of activities going on. They post a monthly schedule of when all the activities are going to go on. They have ice cream trucks come in and those kinds of things. I think it was ridiculously expensive though. There's nothing cheap about it at all. I hate to think of what it's going to cost when we have to go over to the memory care part of it because she does have dementia. She was just at the borderline so she's staying in assisted living for a while."

"It was clean and comfortable. The staff during the tour seemed qualified and experienced. The room was up-to-date and comfortable. While we were there, they were having a Mardi Gras party and they had several outings and activities both for men and women. Since my brother is a guy, we were hoping that there would be some activities for men and it seemed like there was. The dining area had pleasant surroundings, but I've not been there during a meal yet."

"My husband was in Ambassador for an extended period of time. He received excellent care. The staff was very caring. We would recommend Aspen Trace for quality care. Ambassador was the best."

"Demaree Crossing is an excellent facility. It's beautifully decorated and the nurses are attentive. My mother says the food is good. The rooms are nice. She's in a studio by herself, and it's small, but it's a lot better than some of the rooms in some other places. She's able to get her bed, a recliner, a dresser, and a TV in there. The staff is attentive, cheerful, helpful, and they know what they're doing. They have a lot of activities, outings, they play bingo, and have church services. Each resident has a plastic tote and in it are things that they enjoy doing. One resident who is a farmer has pictures of tractors that he had in his tote and he'll tell you about them. He also has packets of seeds. They have crafts and they made birdhouses the other day. They go on the bus and drive them around to look around or to go shopping."

"In general, GVS (Greenwood, IN) is – in my opinion – the best place on the south side to take care of your loved one. They have a continuum of care that provides the needed services for the large majority of situations – from independent living to 24-hr skilled care, memory care, and rehab. My Mom started in independent living (‘IL’) and has recently transferred to the Manor assisted living (‘AL’). The team at GVS seamlessly guided us through each step of that transition. While the Manor is an old building – and needs to be updated, it IS planned for a complete rebuild, but that is still years away. However, in the near future, they are proceeding with updating some of the common areas, which will be very nice for residents (and staff). Most important to me when choosing a home for a loved one is not whether the facility is newer – but HOW they care for their residents. This is what I love most about GVS. Whether it's the administrative staff, caregivers, or support staff, it's obvious they care deeply about their residents! They bend over backwards to please, are kind, and are prompt to respond to concerns and questions. I’m very thankful that my Mom is at GVS. And, a shout-out to Jenny, the Manor Director … She is one of the most responsive, attentive ppl I've worked with at GVS – very reasonable and easy to work with."

"Majestic Care of Carmel is a clean, cheerful facility. Staff members are friendly and empathetic. They are encouraged by management to "Lead with Love," and this is evident in their interactions with residents and families. Many activities are offered, and nursing staff in long-term care unit is exceptionally skilled and responsive. Residents seem happy and well cared-for."
