"The studio room is relatively small; however, as it has turned out is plenty of space for our mom. My mother has been in the Memory Care area for 2 1/2 years. We are so very happy with her care and treatment. They all seem to care so much and do absolutely everything they can to please her and help her. Anything we call about or ask for help with - they are more than willing to help us. We feel very lucky that we were able to get our mom in at The Harrison. The food looks decent and it is a very sizable serving."

"Meadow Lakes is very nice. The staff is very informative because we were there not only to look over a facility since we were never in one. It is very nice and very clean. We walked through the whole facility, it looked to be nice, and the place is very clean. She showed me around like an exercise room and various other things. She explained what they have and meetings to keep the people busy. One of the main concerns was the financing we had available to work with. So that is more of fact finding information than anything else, and we got some good answers. My brother and I were trying to become educated on the process. "

"My mom moved to Independence Village of Zionsville West. I liked the way the memory care was laid out. It seemed very approachable and comfortable, and it reminded me a lot of what my mom would like. Knowing her preferences, it felt right. I also connected, I think, with the director of memory care, and some of the people that I met, for some reason connected with them. They do an excellent job. It's very well kept, very clean, and tidy. I've been there twice now when they've cleaned her room. It's a lovely job. The facility is really beautiful. It just seems like a lot of care is going into keeping the surroundings safe and comfortable. So far, she's been very active. There's something to do every day or every afternoon. She can pick and choose what she wants. She's gone to karaoke. She's watched a comedy show. They've taken her to breakfast with the little group. They have a birthday party. They had a piano player/singer come in. She sat and watched that. They baked a kind of cookie one day. It's very active, and she gets to pick and choose what she feels like doing. So far, she's done all of those. I've eaten and I've been there when she had lunch and dinner a few times and she gobbles it down. She's a good eater, so I think there's plenty of choice for her, and she seems very pleased with having no problems adjusting to the food that they're offering. I've been very impressed with how caring they are and sweet, whether it's kind of a helper staff versus the directors. Everybody's been very approachable. They have been sending me pictures of her doing some fun things. They had dogs come in twice now. The director took pictures and I got pictures with Mom and dogs. I think they're staying very attentive to engage the families. So I'm very pleased with the staff. There are other places less expensive, and yet there are others more expensive, so I would say they're kind of in the middle-high."

"Mom is currently at Zionsville Meadows. The place is good, and they take good care of her. I feel they could use more workers and they are understaffed, but they have been adequate at this point. The food seems fine. They do have interactive stuff and crafts. They also have people encouraging them to participate in their activities. They keep the residents occupied most of the time. The rooms are nice and spacious with good showers in them. Overall, they are OK other than they need more staff. "

"My grandmother will be moving into Traditions at North Willow. It's a little newer. It looked very similar to the place where she is currently. The location is nice because it's just down the street. The apartment looks good. The library area is amazing because my grandmother is an ex-librarian. She really likes that their library has a lot of books, and it's spacious. The staff was amazing, very knowledgeable, very sweet, and very patient (which I think is important when you're working with the elderly). They have a beauty salon and a beautiful outdoor area, where the garden is. There is an activity room, where they do some arts and crafts, play bingo, and all that jazz. I think there's a movie theater. We met the chef, and she's probably amazing; I didn't get to try the food. They have bingo and movie nights. They take them out quite often from what I gather. I've got a lot of church members that live there already, so they're always talking about the different places they go."

"We visited The Wellington at Southport in Indianapolis. We're just getting ready to start the process of her evaluation, and then my aunt will be moving to their memory care unit. We chose it for her because we liked the size of the room. It was very nice, and the layout allowed for a separate bedroom space from a living space, as opposed to some of them that have just enough room for maybe a dresser and a bed. The staff was great, and the location is perfect for us. The facility was very clean, too. They have so many programs for life enrichment, just in general, besides the things specific to memory care. Most importantly, they had the space for her. A lot of the places were either full or only had one bed, which created a lot of pressure for us. It's also one of the facilities that will do a Medicaid spend down, so if she does run out of money, she can apply for Medicaid. Having that option in case she does outlive her money is a nice solution. When we left, they gave us a little gift basket kind of thing, which was very nice. It's like a hospitality gift that had some cookies in it and information packets. It was very welcoming, just in general. The room itself just seemed better laid out and had some more safety features in the bathroom than other places did, and that made me feel good that she'd be safe. Everyone was very nice and very welcoming there. I didn't just meet the salesperson and the administrator. I met several of the staff in the kitchen, as well. The staff was just excellent and very attentive."

"I toured Grand Victorian of Zionsville East. My children live within 10 minutes of the place, and I'm very happy with the rooms. And I got a cat that I'm bringing with me there. The only thing I can't bring is my bird feeders, but that's okay because my son is an active bird feeder, so I'll give it to my son. And he is not that far from me, so I can go see him anytime I want. So I'm very pleased with this place. The staff answered everything. They've been very good to me. The size of the rooms is good. They're better than what I've got now. The upkeep of Grand Victorian is going better. It seems like everything looks good. I was really impressed with the facility. Everybody was friendly. Everybody was nice to me. I just felt wanted there. Regarding the food, I have kidney failure and heart failure, so there are a lot of things I'm not allowed to have, and I have to be very careful because it's landed me in the hospital a number of times. And Grand Victorian will offer me the diet that I'm allowed to have. I've seen the menu, and they serve a lot of chicken, a lot of fish, and a lot of salads. They serve a lot of the things that I'm allowed to have. The rooms are big. And that's good if you have an animal with you, and I got a cat. Everything looks good. I couldn't say anything bad about it. As for activities, they have activities, and they have trips that they take. They're active and I like to be active. I don't want to sit in my room all the time."

"American Village is a very nice facility. I think the issue with them at the time we were looking was that my brother didn't have Medicaid. They were a little above his ability to afford to live there. I don't believe they have any Medicaid waiver bid, but it is a nice facility. Their rooms are clean and nicely furnished. It has a lot of character. The dining room is very nice. That would have been my brother's choice if he had the budget. "

"I enjoyed my tour of Country Charm a lot. They were very informative and had a lot of amenities that some of the others didn't have. Price-wise, it's also a lot more affordable. It was nice. They had a room with popcorn, coffee, and tea for the residents any time they want to go down and get them. They also had a gift shop/general store, which had detergent, deodorant, shampoo, and more if they needed to buy them. They had a full activity schedule and a bus and car that took the residents wherever they needed to go. The staff seemed professional and neatly dressed; I couldn't say the same for the other places I've been to. The building itself seemed clean."

"Altenheim is a Methodist home, and it was a very nice place. People are very kind and nice too. The rooms and apartments were nicely done. They played games, someone plays the piano, and they are having a memorial service at the end of this month. "

"My mother is in Rittenhouse, but it is expensive. I would like to find another place for her, but we’re having trouble finding one within our budget. I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and its extreme cleanliness. They’re very caring. The apartments are very nice; the walls are painted, and you can put up anything you want. There are double and single apartments. The singles are a little on the small side, but you don’t need much other than a bed and your personal possessions, so I was really impressed. The dining setup is lovely. I have not eaten the food, but I’ve talked to people, and they said the food is very good. I know they have lots of activities. I saw the activity room and watched people do art projects, so they keep them pretty busy. I’m sure they’re fine for people on Medicaid, but I wish the business as a whole was more affordable. "

"We toured Bickford of Greenwood. We love that. It was very nice, but it was over our price limit. We love the community. It was a single story, so we didn't have to worry about elevators or anything like that. It's probably a little bit older property, but it's very well-maintained. We were very impressed. When we walked in, there was a young girl, I think she's one of the granddaughters of one of the residents, and she was singing songs with the residents, and they seemed to be having a good time. It was very nice. I would be very comfortable with Mom living there and she probably would be, but the price was a little bit out of our price range. It felt like an apartment complex; it did not feel like assisted living. They have a square configuration, you have the hallways going around that, and everyone has an individual apartment. I kind of like that it's a little bit older building. It's kind of rustic. It's a wonderful facility."
