"The Terrace at Clear Lake is somewhat unique in that is allows seniors to live independently, but with assistance. What I notice about The Terrace is how clean and well maintained everything is. From the time you drive in th main entrance until the time you leave, you will see staff everywhere taking care of things. The parking lot and grounds are taken care of and offer the residents nice areas to enjoy the outdoors. Once inside, staff are unobtrusively cleaning, taking care of plants, etc. The other thing I really like about The Terrace is its location. Within a mile or two there are over twenty restuarants, a community park, many shops and even Baybrook Mall. so if you want to go and pick up your loved one and take them shopping or out for a meal, everything you want is available with a very short drive. "

"We visited here for my ex-husband. The place was really nice, good, and wonderful. Out of the places we visited, he said that's where he wants to go. The staff members were great, walked us through, and showed us different things. "

"I chose The Village of River Oaks. The building was brand new. It's only four years old, so everything was new. The main thing is they had a big suite available that they gave me the deal on. That was probably the primary thing was the value of the size of the suite, where it was located, and that it was a real good value. Secondly, I would say the distance or the time it takes me to get from my house over to there. I'm familiar with that area. I don't have a problem as far as remembering how to get over there, and the drive isn't impossible. I was looking for memory care for my parents. We saw the building. The guy was very thorough and was answering questions, which you'd expect. He was very enthusiastic, very animated, and accommodating. They had parking. You could park your car inside the gate, so that was good. It looked nice going into it. Aesthetically, it looked fine. They did have an area that I thought was sort of unique. It was like going outside, but you really weren't going outside. It was all like a certain floor. You could go out and sort of enjoy the fresh air, but it's like you couldn't jump out of the building or anything like that. You can enjoy the outdoors, but not be on the first floor where somebody might wander into traffic or who knows what they might do. It was safe for people to go out there. It was a pretty big area, so a lot of people could mill around in there to feel some fresh air."

"The Village of Southampton was stunning. The views there are tremendous. You can see the whole city and can see downtown. The location is in the Rice Village at Rice University. There's a whole bunch of shops there. As long as we're able bodied, we can walk a mile or two. There's a lot of places that are within walking distance. That's the strong point of that one. The views are awesome. It's like 18 stories (or something like that), and all the apartments are just gorgeous. We've been there twice. They have exercise rooms, a swimming pool, and a lounge on the top floor. You could buy alcohol, snack foods, sandwiches, and stuff. The view is like drop dead gorgeous. There's an outside balcony that goes halfway around the building. It's stunning. The food was excellent. This is the best place in town."

"My father-in-law moved to Birdsong Apartments, LP. He loves it. It's clean. They have bingo, donuts, coffee, and Bible study. It's a good deal. They do have a microwave and a stove. They don't have a washer and dryer, but they have connections. They have washer and dryer coins, but it seems they're not working because they have signs on the door that they cannot be used for some reason. I guess they're no good."

"I like everything about Villas at Rollingbrook, but they didn't have anything available for the size of the unit that I can afford. They had some other units available, but not the one-bedroom. The apartments were beautiful. The staff was very nice. The grounds were nice. Everything about it was very nice. I like the layout. I like the interior fixtures. You have the granite countertops, the islands in the kitchen, and the garden tub in the bathroom. The bathroom counters match the island and the cabinetry. The countertop that you have in the kitchen on the island is the same countertop that you have in the bathroom. It was just beautiful. It was so nice and spacious. They had nice wooden floors in the main living areas and the bedroom, and when you step out of the bed, there's like a carpet area. The staff during the tour was very sweet and very nice. The dining area was very nice. You could eat, breakfast and, lunch, dinner all at the same place. They had a little cozy section for maybe two tables. They had tables for two and tables for three and they had larger tables. They had booths toward the back. They have two pools and a place where you can work out."

"I really, really like The Lodge at Pine Creek best because it had pretty much everything I wanted. The tour was great. The food was really good. They had an indoor heated pool. It was very nice. They had an exercise room. They had everything I needed. They had maintenance people available if I needed something done. The size of the rooms and the storage in the apartments was wonderful. I looked at a medium-sized two-bedroom, two-bath apartment. I only need one bath, but all they had were two-bedroom, two-baths. They had a full washer-dryer hookup so I could take my washer and dryer. The staff that I met was extremely friendly. I have a friend that is planning to move there and one friend that already lives there. This would be my first choice. The only negative there was the community fee is $3,000, but I felt like the facility and the amenities were worth it and the prices for their apartments were very good. They had a lot of activities. They had a theater and a private dining room where you can have guests."

"I'm in Saint James House independent living right now. They have the apartments for independent living, the nursing home, and the assisted living area. The appearance is very nice and the layout is very good. The staff seems very good, and the residents I've talked to really like the place. We have entertainment on Fridays, bingo, and painting class. The food seems pretty good so far. The rent is fair as it could be."

"They are still building Mariposa, so it's only one and a half years old, but there are people living in the rooms that are done. You pay extra for a garage. There’s a library and a business area included. They don’t serve your meals, but they do offer use of a nice kitchen. "

"Providence Town Square is a great community. My mom lives there and it's very clean and they've got a lot of amenities, even outside of the norm. People can make their own private little gardens if they want to, and everything's pretty close and convenient. They're tucked away from the main road. It's gated, so it's pretty safe. They have a transport bus where they'll take the residents to restaurants or any kind of outside activity of interest. Plus they'll take them on grocery store trips and other things like that in groups. They have a great room that has a kitchen and a whole lot of tables if somebody wants to host a big event. Then there's another room where people go down and have different activities like cards or any kind of social activity. Another section of the great room is for those who just want to get out of their space. It has big TVs and nice furniture. People can gather down there, socialize, watch TV or watch a game or do whatever they wanna do. They have a lot of opportunities to interact."

"I'm currently at Primrose of Pasadena. The facility looks clean and everything looks in good order. They have a salon, an exercise area, a home theatre type room for watching videos. The area is pretty much secure and hat I like about this place is that is it just for seniors. There are no young kids or young people allowed to live her. We have a small entrance way that we go to our apartments and they allow us to decorate our doors or personalize the entrance. I don’t have to take the trash to garbage area. I can just leave it outside the door and they pick it up. "

"We toured Fordham at Baywood. It was closest to my daughter, almost within walking distance. Independent living would be good, but they're not associated with a care facility. They had a good-sized indoor swimming pool. Fordham has some nicely-sized facilities, and their apartments are very nice. And the reason I would be less likely to go there is that they aren't associated with a care facility. They have a dining room and a nice library. The people there are very accommodating. I would have been more interested in it had they been associated with a care facility, but for someone who's not concerned about that, I recommend them. It's a very nice facility."
