I visited the independent living community of The Terrace at Kingwood Town Center. What I liked best was the way it was set up for independent living. It still gives senior citizens the ability to live independently, and it also gives them choices. For instance, the dining area is set up as a restaurant. It's open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., they order off a menu, and the menu changes daily, weekly, and monthly. It's not cafeteria style where the meal is three times a day, they have to be there at a certain time, and the residents only get certain meals. Here, there's lots of choices for food, entertainment, and socialization, so it seemed like a more active community. The staff is friendly, efficient, and seems knowledgeable. The layout of the building, to me, was a little confusing, just because it seemed like a lot was going on. It was very clean though, with maintenance people who I saw there. They have a broken elevator, but they were working on getting it fixed, so they seemed active in working on everything, which is nice. There were people gathered in different areas socializing and visiting, and that was also nice to see. We are choosing this place for my mother because it's close to my home, very affordable, and the value is there. A lot of these places cost about the same or maybe a little more, but they weren't as accommodating and uplifting. I also didn't get the same feeling from the residents as I got from this place.

I toured The Terrace at Kingwood Town Center. They were very nice. She offered me food, but I didn't eat. The room was small. There was a pool and facilities. She walked me through and introduced me to some people who lived there, and they were nice, friendly, and welcoming, and told me how they enjoyed being there. They hoped that if I could get in, we would be friends, that kind of stuff. The dining room was very open, like a restaurant with a buffet style. If you needed anything, they could make it for you. It's clean and bright, and they also have a piano. Some people played during meals. The staff was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful.

The Terrace at Kingwood Town Center is very clean. I like the menu and the snacks they have. I was thoroughly satisfied with the transportation to the doctor's appointments and little field trips to different places. They have a therapy room and an indoor heated swimming pool. The rooms are not large, but they are adequate. The food was very good. They have a cleaning service once a week. They have laundry service, too. However, they don't have a kitchen in the units.

We had seriously considered The Terraces at Kingwood Town Center. It was very nice. Everything was excellent. One of the advantages there is that they have a small swimming pool. At that time, that was something we wanted, but as my sister has aged, it has not been considered. The staff members were excellent. They're helpful. The rooms were good. They were acceptable to us. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I had a good sense of it being a community where people could associate with each other and do activities. The dining area was clean.

I toured The Terraces at Kingwood Town Center. The staff was very friendly and thorough. I think what questions I still have were my fault, not hers. She didn't hurry me at all. It wasn't like, oh, I have to go to lunch or I have somewhere else to see. She was very thorough. She's been there a long time, and I know she knows what she was doing. They had a gym, an indoor swimming pool, a place for movies, and a place for jigsaw puzzles, just a room. They had a large room for activities. They had a smaller room for specific games. They had a different room for cards, and they had a room for some people if they wanted to get together and make some craft objects to give to needy people. And they did have a salon.
