"The Abbey at Westminster Plaza fit our needs. We wanted a three-bedroom, two and a half bath, but the actual living/dining room was small. We ate there a couple of times, and the food and the presentation seemed to be acceptable. I would like to have a better coffee machine, but overall, we think the place is fine."

"We visited The Buckingham on a weekend, so we didn't have the person who normally gives the tour. The staff was very nice, but we didn't see the room nor talk about the cost. We liked what we saw, including the activity room, the place where they had physical therapy, and the eating area. They were among the top communities that I saw. I was impressed with the place; it was beautiful and had a homey but classy feel to it."

"What I like best about Hampton at Post Oak is the lobby and the people. It was very nice. There were not a lot of people sitting around looking abandoned. My first impression of it was that it was very good. It looked like a place I would want to live. The lady that took me around was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The other staff members I saw also seemed very friendly and relaxed. They were good and they seemed like they wanted to be there. However, in terms of their rooms, they were a little smaller than I thought it would be. "

"I visited The Village of Southampton about six weeks ago. I liked the fact that they had three levels of care, independent living, assisted living, and memory care. It's all in one building. It's a high-rise building. They had activities for the people who live there. Everything was provided. They give you a list of activities for the whole month. Everything looked perfect. Everything was perfect. I saw an apartment, the dining room, the different rooms where they have activities, and I saw the vehicle that carries the people wherever they want to go. I talked to a couple of the residents, and they seem to be happy there. The staff who showed me around was very professional. I didn't try the food and seeing the menus, it looked very good. And they will take care of special diets."

"I visited The Terrace at West University for myself. Their rooms were larger and I like their lay out. The staff was wonderful. The food they serve there was also fine. Their price also was excellent. I like this facility the best amongst the other facilities I visited. "

"This facility is really well kept, especially in the foyer area. They have a piano and a small pool. The rooms are well-kept and are really modernized. The entryway is really great. The residents have access to transportation provided by the facility. They have a recreational and fitness program for the residents. The common areas are really spacious. It seems like the location and neighborhood is really nice. This facility also has a storage area for the residents. Some of the rooms have a view. The ceilings were also much higher than at other facilities, and the countertops are granite. They have walk-in showers, nice carpeting, crown molding, and nice window coverings. The staff didn't want to tell me how much it would actually cost to live there, but the fees are based on a monthly rental fee. I know the fees include housekeeping and maintenance, plus transportation and the two scheduled meals per day. If some of their residents can't meet the rental fee for the month, they have different programs and discounts for some of their seniors who are on fixed incomes, so they work with the residents so the fees won't be a burden on them. I talked to one staff member, and she seemed to have an issue with the management, though she didn't want to get into details. She seemed to be well-trained, and she was an RN. The staff provides after-hours contact information for staff in case any of the residents need help. The family members are welcome to come in at any time, rather than having to come in at one specific time during the day. "

"We went to The Tradition - Woodway this morning. It was very clean. The staff was very friendly, and seemed to know quite a bit about it. They have a swimming pool, a hair salon, a man's Cave with billiards, a golf simulator, a library, a workout room, and a craft room. We stopped at one of the informal snack areas. We saw the dining room. There was no food preparation going on at the time. It looked like a restaurant. The Tradition seems kind of sterile."

"I'm staying here and the facility is very nice, the staff is very nice and cooperative, and I really like my room. They have good activities here and I like them. I'm in a wheelchair and they have video games, which is really nice for me because I'm unable to get around. I have a scooter but it's still hard to get around. They have a lot of things that are virtual which is nice. They have art classes which I love. They have someone who comes in and teaches about technology and I love that. We have something new here, a clinic that does occupational therapy and physical therapy so that's great. I love the facility and the apartments are very nice. I have a very nice apartment, it's just what I wanted. It's hardwood floors, it has a complete kitchen with everything stainless steel, it's all topnotch, I really enjoyed it. I have a glass door shower, it's just wonderful. I'm in a wheelchair and have plenty of space to move around here."

"The Terrace at Memorial City is right next to a big mall. There’s a hospital not far away and a lot of professional buildings. I had a lot of complex medical issue; I was looking for a place with access to those things. And there was the Memorial City Hospital. Their rent includes three meals and all your paid utilities. They had laundry rooms all over the place. They also had pools and spas. It was nice. There were very nice apartments all in a quadrangle -- it was beautifully landscaped. All of the apartments were updated, which makes it nice. This particular one had a much higher mean age; it was late 80s and early 90s. They also have scheduled trips around the area, but actually they had quite a few activities for their residents. It was a little higher cost. I thought they were good. Again, I was looking access at the Medical Center and this place didn’t provide this either. "

"My mom has moved into The Village of River Oaks. We chose them primarily because it's pretty close to where we live, and they have a Hoyer lift accessibility. The place is brand new and beautiful. Everybody seems very friendly and helpful. They have activities all day long. They got puzzles, cribbage, painting, and of course they got food. There's food out for the residents all the time, and they've got outdoor areas where you can sit outside in the sunlight. They've got a nice view of downtown. They publish an itinerary every day and hand it out to all residents. They have a piano player that comes in once or twice a week and plays piano for them. I think it's pretty typical for a living facility. The food is fine. It's not Four Seasons, but it is good and it's quality food. The place is very expensive though. There's nothing perfect, but this is probably the closest you could get."

"The staff at Trinity Oaks of Pearland was very good. The apartments were very nice. Everything seemed very good, and it's reasonably priced. The dining area was very nice. It's a really convenient location. It's close to my gym, and there's a lot of things around. It would be a very nice place to stay."

"My sister is here. The staff is great. My sister is in a one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen where she can do any kind of cooking she wants. They provide meals but only during the week for breakfast and lunch. She enjoys cooking, so that is good for her. If she wants to bring up leftovers and not cook, she is able to do that. They provide transportation to wherever she needs to go. It is independent living. I am very pleased. "

"We had a very informative tour at Atria Cinco Ranch. They were able to answer all of our questions and were very friendly. The facility was well-kept and they were able to share many of the different experiences that the residents can take part in to remain vibrant and physically healthy. They offer quality meals three times a day, including snacks. We also toured several room styles and were very pleased with the amount of space and pricing attached to each offer. They offered us something to eat and surprised us with a freshly baked peach pie, which was delicious. So, we were very happy with our tour. When we visited, they were hosting a session for people that were new to the facility. They also had a happy hour that was happening just as we were leaving the facility. There was a library, different tournaments, games, and a pool. We were certain that they had several events scheduled throughout the month. They published a regular monthly calendar. They were excellent."

"I chose Solea Cinco Ranch for my friend. The location is much closer to my home and his family. It's a newer place. It has fewer amenities and it's more of an apartment complex. They have social activities. They don't offer meals. Residents do their cooking. They have a pool and weight room."
