"I toured Oak Park Retirement Resort. I like what I saw inside. It was beautiful, and even the eating area. They do their meals there every day. They have snacks that chefs would leave outside in one of those bins, you just walk in and get it from behind the counter because it's shaped like a cafeteria, and you can get any kind of snack, whether it be jello or pudding or something that would be there, and in case you struck a midnight snack that you wanted and you didn't have it in your apartment. They also have deliveries if you can't make it down there to eat, you just call in downstairs and they bring it up to you. That was interesting. They had a salon. They had an exercise room. They had an area where it was set up for Sundays for church services that looked very comfortable there. I think they also do their movies there as well. They had a lot of things going on right in the center as you walked in. They had water fountains, so there was plenty of space and room around that area. So they would have a small lane where they could play bowling, but it was small like a kid's stuff, but at least they were exercising, and they had a library. The rooms were okay. I wasn't too fussy in the kitchen. It was wide open whereas the other one was not. I kind of missed that one area. It was kind of like a half-round so you could put a round table but that did not appeal to me at all. Other than that, I liked everything. Everybody was very nice. All the staff was very nice. They kept them busy every single day. The lady was telling me they were always busy out there. Everybody wanted to be out. So they all were out in the hallways and playing like children."

"I chose Solea Cinco Ranch for my friend. The location is much closer to my home and his family. It's a newer place. It has fewer amenities and it's more of an apartment complex. They have social activities. They don't offer meals. Residents do their cooking. They have a pool and weight room."

"The Abbey at Westminster Plaza fit our needs. We wanted a three-bedroom, two and a half bath, but the actual living/dining room was small. We ate there a couple of times, and the food and the presentation seemed to be acceptable. I would like to have a better coffee machine, but overall, we think the place is fine."

"I toured Carriage Inn - Katy. Everything was great. I think that was the one that I was really going to choose, if we decided. It was very clean. It looked like the rooms were very nice, spacious. The facility was very good sized. They had a lot of activities going for the seniors. It was actually really nice. One day I was there, they were having bingo night. I visited twice, the other was a Friday night. They had a band coming in, just a social time for all the seniors to be in the same place, and just having a band and food and all of that. I actually dealt with two people. One was the director of the facility. Very nice, very knowledgeable, gave us a tour, followed up several times if we had any questions, and just was very helpful, letting us know what kind of resources they had, as far as taking care of meds and what kind of activities they had for everybody. So, very helpful, and gave us a full tour of the facility. The facility was a little bit older, but the rooms were really nice. These were really nice rooms where they had a sitting room, bedroom, a master bathroom, and a little kitchen. They were really, really more set up, like gave you a lot of space, and felt like you weren't just living in a hotel room. A lot of those rooms had a patio door, where if you had an inside room you could walk out onto the patio. It was open and it was well kept."

"My husband is at Atria Westchase. I have no complaints. I have not spoken to him in detail about his experience, but he has had no complaints about the staff or any other aspects of his life there. He has been there for three weeks now. I chose it because it has all the amenities he needed. They had transportation, a studio apartment, and the location was good. Those were some of the features that were important to us. The staff was easy to work with. They have Covid restrictions for visits, so I haven't visited him, but I have been there to leave items for him and to pick up items from him. He is very comfortable there and he has never said one negative thing about the place. The people with whom I've interacted were very helpful, and based on what I have seen, the facility is OK. Compared to other facilities that provide the same services, I'm satisfied with the value for money."

"Aurora Living is a personal care home. It was nice. It was clean. It was fine. The rooms were nice. They're okay. The staff who toured us around kind of manages the place, and her name is Nikki. She was nice. She was very informative. I think she said they provide three meals a day and maybe snacks."

"We toured The Buckingham, and it was very nice. It was the second that we would have chosen, if we hadn't gone with the other community. It was just very professional. The guy that gave us the tour gave us the answer to all of the questions. We visited with some people very briefly that were there, and they were all positive. It just looked like it would be a nice place to live. It was clean and big. They had a swimming pool and trails. The apartments were very nice. They had one on the bottom floor, which was attractive to us because we had a pet. We thought about it, but we decided that we could go with an upper floor. The meal plan and everything that they had was good. The only reason we went with another facility is that they were going to bankruptcy. We just felt like that was a negative that kept us from going to them. They got a lot of nice features and several different living areas. We were able to see three different apartments."

"I just moved to Brookdale Memorial City in Houston, an independent living community. It's been good and fun. I don't have any problem. I have an apartment which is nice and big enough for me. The place is very warm, and the upkeep is great. The staff is also very patient and understanding. I tried the food, and it was great."

"We went to The Tradition - Woodway this morning. It was very clean. The staff was very friendly, and seemed to know quite a bit about it. They have a swimming pool, a hair salon, a man's Cave with billiards, a golf simulator, a library, a workout room, and a craft room. We stopped at one of the informal snack areas. We saw the dining room. There was no food preparation going on at the time. It looked like a restaurant. The Tradition seems kind of sterile."

"This facility is really well kept, especially in the foyer area. They have a piano and a small pool. The rooms are well-kept and are really modernized. The entryway is really great. The residents have access to transportation provided by the facility. They have a recreational and fitness program for the residents. The common areas are really spacious. It seems like the location and neighborhood is really nice. This facility also has a storage area for the residents. Some of the rooms have a view. The ceilings were also much higher than at other facilities, and the countertops are granite. They have walk-in showers, nice carpeting, crown molding, and nice window coverings. The staff didn't want to tell me how much it would actually cost to live there, but the fees are based on a monthly rental fee. I know the fees include housekeeping and maintenance, plus transportation and the two scheduled meals per day. If some of their residents can't meet the rental fee for the month, they have different programs and discounts for some of their seniors who are on fixed incomes, so they work with the residents so the fees won't be a burden on them. I talked to one staff member, and she seemed to have an issue with the management, though she didn't want to get into details. She seemed to be well-trained, and she was an RN. The staff provides after-hours contact information for staff in case any of the residents need help. The family members are welcome to come in at any time, rather than having to come in at one specific time during the day. "

"My sister is here. The staff is great. My sister is in a one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen where she can do any kind of cooking she wants. They provide meals but only during the week for breakfast and lunch. She enjoys cooking, so that is good for her. If she wants to bring up leftovers and not cook, she is able to do that. They provide transportation to wherever she needs to go. It is independent living. I am very pleased. "

"I took three tours here. Overall, I was very impressed with the fact that it is kind of small and intimate. You get more of a feeling of a family or a home. It's not big. I got to meet most of the staff that would be caring for my client, and I was very impressed with them. They were all very friendly. There are very few residents there right now, and they seem to interact with them on a one-on-one basis. The rooms are not that large, but they're very nice. The bathrooms are very well equipped with very large showers, which makes it easier to assist somebody with their bathing. They have a wonderful common area living room-type setting, and then a dining room where there's a full-sized refrigerator and snacks for the residents at all times. The first time I went there, a couple of the residents were finishing their lunch meals, but I was told that the caregivers eat their meals with the residents, so it's more like a sit-down family-type meal setting, and I was very impressed with that. If they needed physical therapy, they have that available, too. They have a salon and a gym area that the residents can use. They have several large common areas. There's a balcony area where you can sit outside. It's a relatively new place, so everything is nice, fresh, and new. All the staff were available to answer questions that I had."

"My tour at Brookdale Galleria was alright. It was good. The staff was good. The apartment was fine, it was very similar to where my mother is now. It was farther away than I wanted it to be. They have a pool and a lounge with a piano and they have entertainment. The dining area is very similar to what is in my mother's facility, it's just a dining room with various tables. I'll say it's a fine place. The services that they provide are ample. They have bingo, chair exercises, crafts, sewing, and painting."

"A Life Saver Assisted Living is an affordable way for us to be able to put our mom to be taken care of by specialized people. The staff was great. Thomas was great. It's a three-bedroom house and it's well taken care of. The environment is friendly. The rooms were OK, not big and not small."
