"We've chosen Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center for my friend, and it depends on their availability when she gets out of the rehab. The lady that we spoke with there was very knowledgeable and very nice and spent time to help us get in. The facility was clean, and the rooms were large. They had a nice rehab room. We didn't talk to many of the staff. They had shared rooms. They had a beauty shop, a movie room, and they had all their activities posted on a bulletin board in really large font."

"I was in Oak Bend Medical Center in Richmond for rehab. They took their old hospital, which was behind the new one, and turned it into a rehabilitation center for older people like myself who've fallen and need to get back on their feet. It's a perfectly good facility for short-term care. It's not designed for long-term stays. They were very good about getting you up and getting you down the hall because they don't want you to stay. They want you to be rehabilitated and go home. The level of care that I was given was very good. The nurses were all good, and that's amazing. They make time for you, and they try to assess all your needs and keep up with your vitals. They're very good about taking care of you. They did seem to have a little trouble with the air conditioning, but they were very good about moving me from one room to another without any trouble at all. The beds were somewhat dated, but that probably comes from the influx of them having constant shifts of people constantly coming in and out. We shouldn't be too harsh with that because most of the people I saw were also pretty hefty. Most of the staff members were very caring and very concerned. You have people coming and going who are very injured, with some like me who broke my hip, my leg, my arm, and my wrist, so they were trying to take as much care of us as they possibly could. It wasn't easy because they had to go on the doctor's orders, and sometimes the doctor is not there, and your condition changes. They had some really amazing food. I don't think I would've paired squash with spaghetti, but I learned to love it, and now that's what I eat all the time. They knew how to cook it well. The squash wasn't all mushy; it was really nice and firm, and you would have liked it even without a sauce in it. It was also good because you were eating all those carbs. This was a fairly good place for someone who's injured and needs to recover. They keep the facility very clean. It has a small gym where they do occupational therapy and physical therapy to help you get back on your feet. The reason you're so well cared for there is that during the day, you also have OT and PT trainers who, if you're assigned to them, will come down to get you and help you. It takes the load off your nurses, which helps a whole lot. Then they have a little sitting area in the front. If I wanted to go watch TV, that's where I went. The residents don't actually get a whole lotta TV that you'd be used to watching in the rooms. It has outdoor facilities so you can go outside and sit when the families come to visit. They want you to get up and walk around and not stay in bed like most facilities. They like to see you up and walking. Whenever I thought about getting up and walking down the hall, they had everything designed for people to hold on to, like rails and things that you can use if you want to exercise. You can also go to the nurse's desk and tell them if you need something, so you're not really trapped in your room."

"When my grandfather became really ill our family decided that Richmond Health Care Center was the best fit for him and for ourselves. The current staff there are very welcoming and caring towards the patients and families alike. It was a smooth transition for all involved putting my grandfather here. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in search of good nursing care and a clean, friendly environment, "

"Brazosview Healthcare Center was a small facility. Their offices were right there when you walked in. They had an alarm on the door that goes off if one of the residents is a wanderer. Then as soon as the door is closed, the alarm goes off. In that way, they're aware that there's movement. They have a small room for physical therapy. I also liked that the dining hall was right at the entrance. It's a nice public space. Outside of that, it was a standard facility. The tour was just generic information. We talked to one of the nurses and she was very knowledgeable and very friendly. She tried her best to answer as much as she could."

"My father was previously in The Medical Resort at Sugar Land for a couple of months. Our experience was good. The place is really nice, it's a newer place and has a more luxury-like setting. The people there were nice as well. My dad didn't like the food, but it looked good to me. They would give you a menu and you pick what you like. The staff was really attentive, they didn't take long when he uses the call button when he needed to use the restroom. They help cleaning him when he needed a shower or assist when he had to use the potty."

"I was hesitant to bring my uncle to this facility because I had seen some bad reviews on the website. I spoke to the Management staff about my concerns and decided to admit my uncle. His care was excellent and was able to walk out and back to his home after 4 weeks. I will recommend this facility to anyone looking for skilled care. "

"I've been in rehab at HealthSouth Sugar Land. Very positive atmosphere and everyone was very friendly. All rooms were private, and I had their largest room. I just accidentally stumbled into it, but it was arranged differently than the rest of them because this place took over a hospital, and the room I had was supposed to be renovated shortly. It was a wonderful room. In fact, I was there for two weeks. I had my surgery -- my replacement surgery -- and then I went back there for a week. They got me from hobbling to walking quite well in a week. The food was excellent in selection and in portion sizes. As for activities, they have physical therapy and occupational therapy, and they have places on the floor for you to sit or your family to sit, they have books and magazines, you may have like a small table or a huge oval table, and you can get outside easily. "From the consistent warm greetings I get from the receptionist when I call the nursing home to the compassionate DON Christina, Administrator, and staff that have made enduring this pandemic easier, Sugarland Healthcare Center is one of the best. I work all day and every member here has instilled the trust that my family member is being well taken care of in my absence. No nursing home is perfect but from my personal experience, this place is pretty much as close to perfection as you can get. Despite the chaos that coronavirus has caused and having to limit visitations, they have managed to have transparent communication with my family and I. Christina personally called me and discussed any worries or concerns I had and reestablished my belief that good people still exist. When coronavirus unfortunately struck my loved one, the facility maintained wonderful communication and consistently checked on us and were very thoughtful and showed that we actually mattered and were more than a “bed filler”. Thank you so much truly going above and beyond. And every nursing home definitely needs a Christina!"

"Our father, father-in-law or grandfather spent three years in the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Needville. We were unable to care for him at home and this is where he wanted to be. He grew up in the area and knew so many of the residents already there. The administration, nurses and staff provided him with wonderful care. We didn't have to worry about feeding him. He was provided with good warm meals. He loved playing bingo, enjoyed the entertainment and music that came to the nursing home. He was not ever lonely. He had a television in his room to keep up with the world of events. The staff was always so pleasant to visitors. The staff always informed us on any medical changes or appointments he had with doctors. We as a family were very pleased and so thankful for everything they did for him. Great community with wonderful hearts. "

"Great facility, the nursing staff and nursing assistants are caring and strive to make your loved one and you feel like you are part of a family. My mother broke her ankle 2 years ago and she stayed there for her recovery, I was so impressed that when she broke her hip the following year, I knew this was exactly were I was going to send her. Great place I would definitely recommend it, "

"My friend is in Chelsea Gardens. They have an excellent staff and the nurses are just fantastic. It's convenient and it's clean, but I have some complaints. I have never met the house doctor, although I've asked twice to see him. Otherwise, it's a very good facility and all of the people are outstanding. It's a very good facility. They have three meals a day and my friend does eat them, so I guess they're OK. He seems to be happy with the activities. They played bingo, and they showed movies. He seems very content with that."

"My father is staying at a healthcare facility called West Oaks Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. We chose this center because of its location. They also seem very accommodating to me. The administrators are very responsive; however, my father has a lot of complaints about their CNAs' response time. I don't have a lot of experience with nursing homes, but as a whole, this one looks pretty nice to me and they did have some CNAs there that my father gets along with pretty well. What I like best about it is the fact that I don't hear from them very much. "

"My father is in Focused Care at Beechnut. He's in a locked unit now. It's just too far from us. We live on the south side of town and he's on the west side. They take care of him and they entertain them. Since he's in the memory care unit, he has conversations with other people there and he has dementia, so they're kind of talking and talking and I guess they go along with each other and that also keeps them entertained, but they sometimes do activities for them. My other issue is that it smells. It's clean, but you still have a smell. They take care of him and I don't have an issue with that. My issues are that it's far from me and it is an old place, so it does smell. Otherwise, I'm OK with the care that they're giving him. He's in long-term care in the memory unit. I've been there with him for lunch, and he eats it all. They adapted to him as they give him soft food. If it's chicken, they'll take it apart for him because he's kind of a risk of choking. They cut everything up for him to eat, so it could be safe for him, too. They have bingo, crafts, and for my dad's unit, they'll put music for them and have a little bit of dancing and just little things like that."

"We choose this facility for rehab for my husband mainly because of their good Medicare review and because they are the only DECENT facility that offers peritoneal dialysis on our Medicare insurance list The nursing and physical therapy staff is outstanding. Although the rooms are a bit antiquated, it seems that the facility is being renovated. On the negative side, caution should be exercised when considering signing a contract with their dialysis provider, which we found to be less than acceptable. "

"The nurse staffing, the CNAs, and everybody else was great with my father and our family. I have no complaints whatsoever, and I would definitely recommend Legend Oaks to anybody that needs a place for their parents. They are constantly attending to him. The rooms are very comfy. He is in a semi-private room that has a big bathroom, and each of them has their own dresser, closet, TV, and telephone. He is happy with the service in the dining room. He gets a variety of everything, but his diet is restricted. I've never seen anybody complain about the food. As we walked the hallways, it's clean and there is no smell. It doesn't even smell like a hospital, so we liked it. "
