"I visited The Village of Southampton about six weeks ago. I liked the fact that they had three levels of care, independent living, assisted living, and memory care. It's all in one building. It's a high-rise building. They had activities for the people who live there. Everything was provided. They give you a list of activities for the whole month. Everything looked perfect. Everything was perfect. I saw an apartment, the dining room, the different rooms where they have activities, and I saw the vehicle that carries the people wherever they want to go. I talked to a couple of the residents, and they seem to be happy there. The staff who showed me around was very professional. I didn't try the food and seeing the menus, it looked very good. And they will take care of special diets."

"I visited Clarewood House Senior Community yesterday. I like it. I think it's a great place. Excellent service. The facilities were excellent. I know that there were lots of amenities and I liked them. They had a salon and a swimming pool."

"We are at MorningStar at River Oaks. I'm very pleased with it. I'm quite happy with being here. I don't have any real complaints here. We've only been here about six weeks, so we are just getting oriented. I think the staff members are excellent. They're very attentive and well-trained. The food is very good. The building is first class. It has only been open about a year and a half, so it's top-of-the-line. In terms of activities, they have a daily program of things that we can attend. They provide quite a bit of support if you need it medically. It seems like they have a lot of attention without having to be like to have access to a pharmacy if you want. They have pretty much everything I can think of."

"We liked Tender Care Assisted Living. The people seemed to be very friendly and looked like it was an efficiently run facility. We viewed the bedroom and it was clean and comfortable. The director was very cooperative in answering the questions that my sister-in-law's children asked. It was a very positive and friendly atmosphere."

"We found the right place for Mom at Belmont Village, and she has been there for about three weeks. I would highly rate this place. She has her own apartment without a roommate, so she has her own independence, which is what I wanted. She can bring her cat. They have a program there for mild dementia that’s called Circle of Friends, which won a national award. The food is excellent and restaurant-quality. The staff is unbelievably good. They have lots of activities. It’s very clean and very high end. "

"The Buckingham is probably the premier place, but they're quite expensive and require you to buy your apartment. They have a flexible meal plan which we like. The thing I don't like about them is it's practically in Katy. There are a lot of people live out there that think the location is wonderful, but it's kind of out of the way. Their facilities and their amenities were absolutely top notch. They have all sorts of play and work activities. You can do your own thing. I've known about them for 20 years and I would recommend them if you don't mind living halfway to Katy."

"It was located in the part of the town where it's easy to get to. I liked that their staff was welcoming and thorough. I loved just the bright and modern look of it, lots of open air, green spaces, and places to gather. But they didn't have the bars down the hall and the building was 8 stories high. I met some of the residents there and they were friendly. They had good activities going."

"The Village of River Oaks gave me an extensive tour of the memory care area. I got to see the residents out in the common areas. I talked to a few staff members, and I saw the rooms. Overall, it's very good. They limit their memory care to 35 residents, which is at the top end of what I was comfortable with. A couple of the residents there were very nice. They stopped and talked with me. Everybody seemed very happy to be there for sure. The facility itself was on par with the other places I visited. It had a small outside area. It had a large common area for the residents. It also had a salon. There's not a lot of ground space. However, everybody seemed pleasant. The staff members I talked to were fine."

"I visited St. Dominic Village. It appeared to be a very nice facility, well-run, and I was able to get a lot of information, or to make a decision on where my mother wanted to go. It’s a great place. The director took me around to all the facilities, and they have independent, assisted living, and skilled nursing. They have a chapel on the promises, and it seemed to be well cared for. The staff member was excellent, very well knowledgeable about the place, and was able to answer my questions. The facility was up to date."

"Mom will be moving to The Forum at Memorial Woods. We chose this because the area that it’s in is close to the family, and she likes the facility. So far, the staff that we have dealt with seems very nice. I ate there once and the food was fine. They have exercise, card games, and outings; they seem to have a lot of things every day. "

"The staff were always courteous, and the facilities were always clean. There were some instances of communication problems - for instance, we would try to schedule my grandmother to have her hair done, and the appointment would get canceled. But, since she may have been telling them to cancel it or that she didn't want her hair done, we can't really blame the facility for that. I especially liked that relatives of residents had the option to eat with them in the dining room. We were able to enjoy a few meals together with my grandmother in her new home before she passed away. I will be forever grateful to the staff at The Hampton for caring for her in the last months of her life. "

"We moved my mom last February to Atria Westchase. When she was in a nursing home, she was very depressed. Since she moved into this facility, she has blossomed. She talks to people, and she bathes whenever they want to give her shower. She changes her clothes every day. She has accepted physical therapy. She has also accepted beautician work, getting her hair cut, getting her nails done, which she never accepted at the other place. It's just total turn around in her that I see at Atria in comparison to the traditional nursing home, which is good. With their activities, they have exercise, and they throw balloons to each other. They also have some parties, music, and dancing. Their staff is very caring and nurturing, and the patient to staff ratio is much better than that at the nursing home. "
