"Glenbrooke Senior Living was very clean. Justin has kept in touch with me, and he was very, very helpful. Their staff had been there for some years. I believe one of the staff members has been there for 11 years. They didn't have a big turnover as far as their staff goes. They were a little pricier, but for what they offered, I didn't have a problem with it. He showed me an apartment that was available, and it was on the third floor. They have elevators, which would be good for my father. He's pretty limited to his walking. One of the people who was staying there also did some of the maintenance. I thought it was nice that they're utilizing people's willingness to help out in different areas and things. If it were me, I'd like to feel needed. The dining area was very, very clean, and all the floors were shiny. I didn't see anything out of place, and I was very impressed with them."

"The staff was very nice. They were approachable and they engaged in conversation. They didn't have a gym per se. They had a few workstations throughout the facility like a couple of exercise bikes or things like that you could sit on."

"Hampton Manor of Merritt Island was just down the street from us. It's not far from my home and it's brand new. The facility was just beautiful. The one-bedroom was nice. Their dining area was like a little restaurant thing. The common areas were absolutely beautiful. It's got brand-new furniture. They've got a library and everything. It's very nice and very pretty. They've got a lot of amenities. It would be a happy place for everybody."

"Island Lakes is a facility for 55-and-older seniors. It has manufactured homes and they have a recreational facility with activities going on, like potluck dinners, card games and birthday parties. They have a central pool. It's a quite large facility. This is an independent living community and you can come and go as you please. You also have neighbors who are seniors, who are active and able to live independently. "

"Indian Oaks is a nice, closely knit community where you have your own independent living, but you have neighbors close by with similar interests and lifestyle. There is a large swimming pool where they offer some exercise classes. There are also activities in their recreation center. They take care of maintaining the grounds as well as pest control too. They can also take care of some of the house repairs. I was very impressed because it seems to meet the criteria I am looking for. "

"I am very happy here at Discovery Village at Melbourne. It is a good place, located right on the water, that has nice residents' quarters. The staff is excellent and very helpful. It has a swimming pool and a workout center. We have trivia, a bar, an ice cream bar, bingo, and a whole calendar of activities. The food is very good, too."

"Buena Vida has exceeded my expectations over the last 3 years. The menu offers many choices and tastes very good. The landscaping makes every view pleasant. The common areas are inviting. I participate in many activities including exercise, watercolor class, and bridge. Quality entertainment is regularly scheduled and so are parties. "

"I had a very good tour at Trinity Towers East and West. The place was very clean, and the apartment unit was excellent. They had central air conditioning to control the climate and heat in each unit. We only saw an efficiency apartment because that was the only one that they could show us. They don't serve food there. The staff was very nice, and all the people that we ran into were very courteous and very friendly. They had a library, a conference room, a utility room with a washer and dryer, a garbage dump room, and a central mailbox. They had a 24/7 guard down in front, plus they had call buttons in every apartment in the living room and the bathroom."

"The independent living community of Trinity Towers East is very handicap accessible with elevators and all that. The apartments are not large, but they're furnished nicely and comfortable, so no complaints there. They have the food and everything on site, so I was happy. The staff members who gave the tour were very friendly and knowledgeable. They're good people. The building itself was old, but they kept it up nicely. The apartment I saw could probably use a few more electrical outlets, but space-wise and all that, for one person, it's comfortable enough."

"The Fountains of Melbourne was very modern and very clean. The staff was very, very nice. My only concern was it was very big and very large. I did like the fact that as my health declined, and I needed to get additional care, it was already on site. It's not like we're going somewhere else; everything is kind of contingent on the same campus. That part of it made it nice; that was advantageous. The only knock I have is its location because we really like our doctors here in Orlando, and that's where I've had most of my surgeries. It would mean moving to Melbourne, changing doctors, hospitals, all of that type of thing. That's something that we may have to do in the future, but right now, I'm not sure we want to change all of that. They showed me basically the exercise area and a hair salon. Everything is self-contained. It's almost a small city, which was nice. If you wanted to leave and go out, you could. If you didn't have a vehicle and you wanted to stay put, that's good. One of the positives was that they had a van that went to Walmart and Target once a week. If you wanted to get little munchies and snacks and toiletries and that type of stuff, you could go there and get those things. They had a walking trail, a nice little pond, and a nice area to sit with gazebos. It would have been a nice place to get fresh air. We had lunch. The food was very, very good. I had myself a cheeseburger and fries, and it was just as good as anything you might have out in a public setting. It was very good. I just had a cheeseburger, but from what I could see from what people were having, they had a choice. The food smelled good, and I didn't hear anybody fussing about the food, and there weren't any skinny people."

"My mom was about to move into Cristal Palace, but at the last minute, they said that she needed too much care that they won’t be able to provide. It’s pretty, clean, well kept, bright, and sunny. The people looked happy. I didn't have complaints about that. The people eat in the dining area where they watch TV. The person that toured us was a big help. I really wanted to put my mother in, but unfortunately, things didn’t work out. "

"I like Bethesda on Turkey Creek. However, there's a big hill, and I could see my sister trying to go down that hill in her wheelchair. But they assured me they would keep a good eye on the residents. Also, people aren't allowed to go out by themselves. Everybody seemed friendly. The residents appeared to be happy. They all were enjoying themselves. They were enjoying their lunch. And when I came back the second time, they were playing bingo, and everybody was having fun. The staff was very friendly. The facility appeared very good. It was all clean. I saw two separate rooms, and both of them were good. However, my sister fell a lot, and since the room had a kitchen, I could see her trying to stand up, to get the cupboards, etc., and falling. So even though it is an extremely nice room, I don't think it's right for my sister. Their dining area was very nice. It was spread apart so the people in wheelchairs had easy access to get through and get around tables and stuff. The food looked good, too. Overall, the friendliness of the staff is what I like best about this community."
