"What I didn't like about Atria Covell Gardens is that mom has dementia and this facility is new in that aspect although mom is not yet in a dementia unit but I know she will be. It's also a multi story unit as well and I don't like mom would be using stairs or elevators. And the other part I didn't like was the parking unit. They do not have enough parking spots for the visitors. "

"I moved into Redwood Retirement with some of my furniture. My ex-husband lived here until he passed away. It’s more than what I really need. The staff is confident as far as I can tell, very helpful, and try to do the best they can. I have a one-bedroom apartment, a bathroom, a little kitchenette, and a living room. It has a little outside porch where I get some fresh air. The dining area is adequate, and the food is good. The service is sometimes terrible, but it’s because they are so understaffed. Sometimes two girls take care of the whole crowd, and that is very unfair to them. "

"Diana was the one we worked with us here and she was phenomenal and so helpful. She gave great insights on how to help mom in the best way. Their amenities were outstanding. They had two 5-star restaurants and then another nice restaurant. They had snacks out that people could come and get at any time. So it wasn't just three routine meals. They were open all the time with snacks and if you wanted something extra, you could get it. You could either have the food taken to your room, like room service, or you could go to the restaurant. They had a happy hour in their general area so it was just phenomenal. It was luxury resort living. Diana showed us two studios and a one-bedroom. The studios were very nice with had very different layouts that would work well for anybody. On the first one that we walked down, I noticed that the kitchenette was a little bit further from the bedroom and the living area, which in our instance was a little bit of a walk, but for a regular person, it was just right there. The next studio was more of an all-inclusive. It was very clean. They had one that looked onto the courtyard in the center with all of its fountains and flowers, while the other one was secluded, like a parking lot kind of view that looked over the tennis courts and things like that. The one-bedroom was very spacious and very nice. They had very short hallways, so there was not a ton of walking and it's soundproof. You could be in the hallway and not hear any of the other residents' televisions or anything. It was well done."

"Carlton Plaza of Davis was very nice. I would be happy to have my mother-in-law move in there. The rooms were much nicer compared to where she is. The staff was very professional. I had a very nice tour. They were great. It was a very active community. "

"Cogir of Vallejo Hills Senior Living has both assisted living and independent living, but they don't have memory care. The appearance was very nice. The staff was very sweet. They have a nice restaurant. The only thing, in my situation, where the room that was available, you had to go down the hall, down an elevator, down another hall, so somebody who's confused would be hard to find the restaurant, but to a regular person, it'd be fine. They had a lot of games and activities, they had bingo, and they had movies. I saw a studio and it was very large and you can have a pet there. They provide three meals a day. From what I was told, their chefs are from the culinary school in Napa. The facility was nice."

"Carlton Senior Living Concord was one of our favorites. I would move there. The location is in a prime spot in Concord, but the facility makes adjustments for the location by having a wonderful internal courtyard, and they're very proactive as far as safety goes. The size of the place, the rooms, and the full kitchen were amazing. I was totally impressed. The woman we met was wonderful and she was very good. They have a lot of grandchildren and visitors visiting the residents there. They were having a little get-together before Thanksgiving and they all seemed to be having a really good time playing bingo. A couple of the ladies were sitting and waiting for the bar to open. The dining room and the menu that they showed us were amazing. Other than the location, it was absolutely perfect. The rooms were gorgeous. They have little patios, balconies, and two beautiful gardens."

"My first introduction to the Lodge was the staff who was all very friendly and eager to help me. I was shown and told the location of everything I might need or activities I might want to join. It felt like everyone knew my name. Making friends with other residents was easy. Everyone has been so friendly. "

"Walnut Creek Care Home didn't have any openings, but the house was spotless. It was very, very clean. The staff there was great. There was no smell of urine or something like that. For me, this particular home just needed some remodeling. It was dated, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it was spotless and the people that were working there were wonderful. They had very caring and long-tenured staff members."

"My sister-in-law works at the church with many residents from here, so we went on a tour. We liked the layout of it and everything so we just took mom there to check it out and she really liked it. Our experience was very positive. Mom and Dad are in a 1-bedrom. They widened the shower door a little bit more because my father has a walker so it’s cozy and perfect for them. I’ve eaten there many times and the food is excellent. The chef does an incredible job and the specials always taste great. Dad does the exercise classes and mom sometimes goes with him. I haven’t had any problem with the staff, and they’ve been able to answer our questions and do things that we needed. "

"I will be moving into the Rose Garden Senior Apartments. The facility was clean. It was nice. The staff was pleasant and took me on the tour. They don't offer food. You have to get your own. I just like what they offer. They have a little calendar with what they do each month, so that was useful. They have a nice courtyard. The dining area was nice, neat, and clean."

"A Loving Living Home Care was well maintained and clean. The lady that gave the tour was very genuine, very friendly, and very willing to answer my questions, even though she hadn't been there very long. She showed me the facility, answered my questions, and pointed things out to me about the way a person would be living there. So, that was very helpful. They had alarms for the doors, so every time an outside door is opened, they were aware. Someone can't just walk out on their own. It's laid out well. They had both a private room and a shared room with an attached bath. The sight lines for the two workers that were there seemed to be open so they could keep an eye on everyone in the main room where they were. This is a house that's been converted, so it's still a home. The outside patio was laid out well with ramps so someone could manage to get down to the patio and sit outside in the fresh air. That was very appealing to me that they'd taken the time to make it more like a home. They were the best board and care option I had seen that would fit what my mom would want if she were to share a room."

"I went to see Casa De Suisun Senior Apartments. It was a pleasant tour. The people that I saw were up and moving around just living their daily lives, which is what I want to do. They weren't dependent on anybody to do anything. They were ambulatory and just going in and out and driving and whatever people do. They're just a community of the elderly. There was one lady there who was the receptionist who did the paperwork, or whatever it is, at the screening. She was pleasant but I was disappointed. I mentioned that every time anybody inquires about credit or needs a credit score on someone, every time they do that credit report, your score goes down. They considered that but I just don't think it was the owners who did not allow me to move in. I think it was her, maybe she had found someone that she favored more because she said that there were two people that came behind me and that they had encountered the same thing. I don't know if she chose one of them or someone else, but she did say it's "first come, first serve". From what she was telling me a few days ago though, everything was going to be fine now and they weren't going to run the credit anymore. All I had to do was go fill out the paperwork for that cosigner. She said, "We had not considered cosigners because we stopped doing that 6 months ago, but we will reconsider for you. So, you're up there and we have that one apartment available. You can come in and do the paperwork. It's no problem", so I did that. The apartment was accommodating and big enough for me. It was nice and clean. I have no complaints about the whole place, at all. During my last visit, coming down the hallway, I didn't see anybody. People were probably in their rooms or whatever they do in their apartments. She just showed me the apartment and that was it. From what I can see, it was very well-kept, nice and clean, and spacious. She said that someone had cooked there so she said it had an odor in it, but that they had taken care of it. I didn't smell it though so they seem to be prompt in taking care of things that need to be taken care of, even if it was just an odor, that may have or could have been a problem for the tenants that were inside. It looked like everybody felt comfortable with their freedom there. It looked like everybody was pretty well happy with the environment in which they live."

"Emeritus Rancho Solano is in a beautiful setting. I don't know how old it is, but it seems fairly new. It's off the beaten path, so it's kind of a country setting. "
