Vacaville Home Care Resources

Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in Vacaville:

Meals on Wheels

Address: 95 Marina Center, Suisun City, CA 94585
Phone Number: (707) 425-0638

Meals on Wheels Solana County is a nonprofit organization that delivers meals to homebound seniors in Vacaville and surrounding areas. The service is available to seniors over the age of 60 who are unable to cook for themselves. There is a small charge for each meal but financial assistance is available to those who cannot afford the fee. The volunteers who deliver the meals check on the seniors and report to the staff if anything seems amiss or the seniors don’t answer the door. Special diets can be accommodated.

Ride With Pride

Address: 91 Town Square Pl, Vacaville, CA 95688
Phone Number: (707) 469- 6667

Ride with Pride is a senior transport service run by Faith in Action Solano County. The program provides door-to-door transportation services for seniors over the age of 60. Priority is given to seniors needing to get to medical appointments or social services. Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance and the seniors must be ambulatory but no longer able to drive on their own. A small donation is requested for each round trip but no senior will be turned away if they are unable to pay for the service. The program is partially funded by the California Department of Aging.

Caregiver Respite

Address: 91 Town Square Pl, Vacaville, CA 95688
Phone Number: (707) 469- 6675

The Caregiver Respite program is run by Faith in Action Solano County and funded by the California Department of Aging and private donations. The program aims to enable seniors to continue living in their own homes for as long as possible by assisting with some of the care they require. Services offered by the program include grocery shopping, light household chores and yard work, home visitation, errands and assistance in filling out forms. Seniors are matched with a trained volunteer who will provide nonmedical assistance as required. There is no charge for any of the services provided.

Senior Center

Address: 91 Town Square Pl, Vacaville, CA 95688
Phone Number: (707) 469- 6675

The McBride Senior Care Center is a community center for seniors over the age of 60. There is no charge for taking part in any of the classes or social events. Some of the activities offered include a senior book club, coping with aging classes, arts and crafts, widows groups, writers groups, fitness classes and quilting clubs. Congregate meals are served at the site by Meals on Wheels.

Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care

Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
