"My friend was a resident of Windsor Vallejo Care Center. It's pretty basic, nothing fancy. He shared a room with two other people. He didn't like the food. Sometimes when he needed help, he couldn't get it. So, he complained a lot about it. He had a TV and there was a bath close by. He had physical therapy. They seemed to be okay, but I think they may be overworked. They have more people than they can take care of. When my friend would ask for something, it would take a long time to get it. So, they were stretched thin, it seemed. Some of the staff were helpful, and some were not. I think they did have a gym for working out. The facility seemed to be clean enough. The pricing is okay, I know those places can be extremely expensive, but it was reasonable."

"My friend, Virginia, spent several months at the Pittsburg Care Center after she fell and broke her leg. I visited her two or three times a week, and was very impressed with the quality of her care. The facility was always clean and fresh smelling. The staff was pleasant and seemed happy with their jobs. Once when I was there early, the cook came in and asked the new arrivals their preferences--favorite and least favorite foods. When I asked Virginia why, she said that if someone's ""least favorite"" was on the menu, she would substitute one of their ""favorites."" Those are the basics. They also had: cooking, music and craft classes. They had bingo day and ""game day,"" and popcorn and hot dog day. When I talk with Virginia now about it, she actually sounds a little nostalgic. In my opinion, this is what assisted living SHOULD be. "

"My brother stayed at the Woodland Skilled Nursing Facility in Woodland, CA for about 2 months. From everything he experienced and I dealt with as a family member- it was like a prison. It so happens he arrived there on his birthday. Upon speaking with one of the administrators I was told they like to make residents feel special on their birthdays. Therefore they would have some balloons in his room upon his arrival and make sure the staff acknowledged him on his special day. None of this transpired. Additionally, a few days after his arrival, I was informed he was moved to a new room. Supposedly my brother complained of a noise disturbance that would continue into the wee hours. Well, that was just a small fraction of the story. My brother needed to move due to being called racial slurs and receiving threats to his safety. This type of behavior is impermissible and anyone creating an unsafe and threatening environment to another resident should be relocated out of the facility. Furthermore, the phones to reach your loved ones were never functioning properly. If you were lucky enough to reach an employee they would tell you our phones have been malfunctioning for over 6 months. The staff suggested I call the administrative office to complain, as they had tried with zero success. Can you imagine going days without being able to check on your family member? When I reached out to the administrative office the gentlemen I spoke to appeared perplexed to the news and said he would look into the matter and get back in touch with me. I’m still waiting on his call and my brother has been discharged. To add, I received a call from the office to inform me that my brother was indirectly exposed, to someone who tested positive to COVID-19. As if his stay couldn’t get any worse. He was now quarantined to his room for 14 days. I couldn't even envision what my brother was feeling or dealing with. On top of that, I was even more distressed that I wouldn’t be able to reach him more frequently, with the poor phone systems. I can’t tell you how defenseless I felt knowing that my brother was dealing with recuperating from a horrible accident and he lives in California with absolutely zero family members there to visit him. I thought it was my lucky day when I finally reached a nurse that happened to work on my brother’s floor. Well, that luck ran out instantly. She was so extremely rude, informing me that for her to connect me with my brother, they would have to put on protective gear since he was in quarantine. She nor the other nurses had the time to do that nor were family members speaking with the residents a top priority. I told her I hadn’t spoken to my brother since I was told of his indirect exposure to COVID-19 and I wanted to check on him. She then brutally replied I’m very busy right now, I need to go and I can’t promise you anything and hung up. How is someone with zero amount of humanity, patience, and kindness working as a nurse? My strong suggestion is to choose a different nursing/rehabilitation center. STAY AWAY from this dreadful and disheartening place. This place is not worth the 4 stars they receive on some of the sites I viewed. "

"I'm now in Healthcare Center. It's very good and like a hospital with all kinds of medical treatments. They have physical programs and all kinds of games, too. They have plenty of staff members who are highly skilled and know how to do whatever they have to do. The food is good. Each individual gets what his or her diet requires."

"Have an aunt living at Alderson's. I've been in MANY care homes across CA and Oregon. Alderson's is by far the best I've experienced. All the employees are qualified, cheerful and attentive. Residents get the kindest treatment from everyone on staff. We were there, unannounced, for 3 days - at various times. We met the workers on every shift. A physically fit woman with dementia, my 87 yr old aunt is very active (literally running in the halls in her walker chair) and the staff are so wonderful as they keep up with her antics. She is very happy, and contented. They keep her - and every resident - extremely clean and well cared for. I wouldn't mind living there myself someday. "

"My mother is in Antioch Convalescent Hospital and she's getting really good care there because both the hospice company that chose this facility for her and the facility itself are monitoring her care. The staff and the rooms are excellent. They have lots of activities like church service, group clubs, Bible study, crafts, and things like that. The best thing about this facility is that their CNAs and LDNs are really accomodating. When you ask a question, they always have an answer. It's an older facility, though. "

"Rooms are clean, and decent sized. Staff is always helpful and polite. Residents do have things to do if capable. Bingo,movies , coloring. They do have TV in rooms . There is a cable fee that the resident pays. Which is pretty much the norm for most the places in the area."

"When my grandpa was admitted to the hospital for a fall and Infection, I knew that he was going to need a little more help before returning home independently. After touring, calling, and reading reviews about different skilled nursing facilities, we knew that ACC was our top pick! It was a blessing for my grandpa when we found out he was accepted for rehab. The minute he arrived, he was greeted by their friendly staff. They showed us around the facility and made sure he felt comfortable. The facility is very clean and bright. The front desk is centralized. My grandpa shared a room with one other patient (shared bathroom). Each patient had their own TV. The facility has a pretty garden outside! Everyone greeted my grandpa by name from the beginning.On the second day, we were invited to a comprehensive family meeting. The point of the meeting? To make sure his days spent at ACC were as close to his normal routine at home. He spent 2 weeks at ACC and our family still can’t thank them enough! The Physical Therapists were so patient and kind. We never worried about him being there and we were constantly reassured by staff that he was being well taken care of. I would highly recommend this facility for your loved one. Thank you ACC! "

"We had a tour at Stonebrook, and the first thing we noticed upon arriving is that the whole place is spotless. This made us feel this is the right location for our mom. The atmosphere was very cozy and relaxing. There was no tense feeling that we got. The entire staff greeted us with a smile and made eye contact, which even confirmed more that this would be appropriate location. They made us feel comfortable. The whole place was outstanding. "
