"Kindred Healthcare - Hospice Care Center provide a team of healthcare professionals and volunteers for on-gong support to both patients and family members. This care is provided in the belief that by helping the patient and loved ones accept death as a natural part of life, a measure of peace can be restored to the process of dying. By alleviating the patient's pain and fear, hospice care fosters the spiritual to live, as fully as possible, all the day's of one's life. As a former Director of Social Services at a Sub-acute Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) in the Marin County I rarely contacted Kindred Healthcare - Hospice Care Center to provide services at the hospital. I found that the staff was very superficial and pushy. Also, this is an agency that is very BIG in the medical profession and provide an array of diverse services. In most cases I would recommend this type of agency to individuals due to the array of diverse services - "A One Stop Shop". Unfortunately, in the case of hospice care I feel you need a very caring and compassionate agency that really specialize in comfort care and I just don't feel this agency meets that criteria. "

"The Tamalpais Nursing Home is well worth the cost. My grandfather came out here after his home in New Orleans was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina. He was very sick at the time, but he quickly recovered at the Tamalpais. He was truly happy there. Rumicube, and making friends were only a few of the many activities he enjoyed. I truly believe that the Tamalpais nursing home added many happy years to his life. The staff was friendly and knew what they were doing, not to mention the stunning view of Mt. Tamalpais, as well as all of the activities. I am thankful for this facility and would suggest it to anyone. "

"I think South Marin Health & Wellness Center had some good people, but they're somewhat understaffed, and COVID was a major factor. They're a decent place and one of the better places around, but none of these places are perfect. My friend wasn't real pleased with her therapy there. She fell a couple of times because she needed something and they're a little bit slow to come and help her. Then one of the times she had to go back to the hospital because of that, but I liked the setting. They had a nice outdoor area, but unfortunately, shortly after she went in, that went under construction. It would be nice to have outdoor places where you can go and meet with family, friends or whatever. They're still a good place for me though. Her room was a shared one, so it was not spacious but it was clean."

"my wife was in the dementia unit for 3 1/2 years until october 2013 and i visited her on a daily basis so i was able to observe the activity of the staff at all times of the day. it was my observation that the care and caring of the staff was far beyond what i expected. they took a personal interest in each of the patients, handled them with gentleness, treated them with dignity and took care of them medically with true professionalism. i highly recommend this facility. "The atmosphere was really cheerful. The provider didn't hold that strong of a presence, instead just running the show behind the scenes and helping people who needed it. The residents fell into a pretty wide range of ages, but it seemed that independence was important. The location and facilities were beautiful, being directly across from the bay and in a beautiful town, that being Mill Valley. The residents seemed cheerful and the ones who were disabled were actually present, meaning that the staff is making an effort to provide them with entertainment and keep them happy. The people at the redwoods are very active parts in the Mill Valley community and can often be seen protesting political causes or taking part in community events. The homes were separated and attractive. This was wildly different from the place where my great grandmother lived, which was a nursing home and very controlling. The people were a little more abandoned here, and the place had more of a factory feel then the others. Overall the Redwoods was more of a community than a home and the residents seemed more happy than any other senior community I have ever seen. "

"It is a small facility, family owned and run, with a good and caring staff. They are very friendly to residents and guests alike. They have different activities to help stimulate the residents' minds and the physical therapists make sure the residents get the exercise and other attention they need. "

"Creekside Healthcare Center is a skilled nursing facility. They work with the patients, doing physical therapy and having different activities during the week. They care for them there, so they have free meds and 24-hour care. I like the way they try and interact with the patients a lot of times. It's a friendly atmosphere. They can work on some things like some of the dietary needs of the patients, maybe watch their salt intake sometimes and watch stuff that might run their sugar up or blood pressure. Just needs to be better communication between them and whoever is in the dietary section because sometimes they don't take care to serve the healthiest food. The sanitation is pretty good. I've never been there when it wasn't clean. The staff is good, too. Sometimes, maybe just a little short-handed. For the most part, they tend to do a good job. "

"My sister is in a nursing home called Shields Richmond Nursing Center. I don't have any complaints about it. The staff members that I have interacted with are very kind and professional. The facility is clean, and they care about their patients. The staff members I've interacted with are very kind and very professional. The building is very well structured. It looks very clean, and it smells very clean. I feel it's a very pleasant atmosphere. I don't feel like anything on the negative side at all. The rooms are pretty good size. My sister shares a room with another patient. It's very well-lit, you can see out the windows and you can see where the nurse's station is located. Everything's right in the view from her room."

"I currently reside here. After being here for a few months I can honestly say that the overall care here is good. Most of the staff are not Anglo but the care more than makes up for the small language barrier.Thyey are kind and attentive. When I came in I had bedsores, they new what to do and I healed up. I am long-term and will give updates. I like it here. "

"What I like about this facility is their amenities which includes 24-hour emergency call system, physical therapy and fitness room, recreation room and library, and hair salon and manicurist. They also have a great security system which is the Wander Guard Security System so you do not have to worry about your loved ones safety while you're away. "

"My mother, Jan, was admitted late last year to Shields Nursing Center after being discharged from Doctors Medical Center. She, just like anyone else, did not want to go to any nursing facility, because she missed home so much after being in the hospital urgent care for about four months. From her feedback as well as from my personal visits, the staff were very friendly and helpful even though they were very busy doing their best to care for so many people. The food was reasonable. The facility does need more improvement on the lighting in the rooms. The rooms are small, which is not the factor. The rooms have a dark interior which seems to bring gloom to not only the patients but the visitors as well. Knowing the buildings are quite old, I am sure some time the rooms will be brightened up, which will help in brightening up the patients who stay there. I would like to add, that my mother needed to have all her pain meds upon discharge from the center, and even though the full prescribed amounts could not be released, they were so compassionate enough to give her samples and whatever amounts that could be approved right away. Though I was not a patient staying there, I still miss the wonderful staff and my mother would say the same. Rest her soul. "
