"We were very impressed with Healdsburg. It was a very nice community. Everyone was very open and caring. We really liked it. They had all kinds of activities, a garden with flowers, and chickens that residents can help with the eggs, goats to pet, and concerts. It is a wonderful community. There are five different levels of care in different buildings for different levels of care. We saw several nice dining areas. Healdsburg was the best one I've ever seen. The staff that we interacted with all seemed knowledgeable, caring and very well read on the latest information."

"Diana was the one we worked with us here and she was phenomenal and so helpful. She gave great insights on how to help mom in the best way. Their amenities were outstanding. They had two 5-star restaurants and then another nice restaurant. They had snacks out that people could come and get at any time. So it wasn't just three routine meals. They were open all the time with snacks and if you wanted something extra, you could get it. You could either have the food taken to your room, like room service, or you could go to the restaurant. They had a happy hour in their general area so it was just phenomenal. It was luxury resort living. Diana showed us two studios and a one-bedroom. The studios were very nice with had very different layouts that would work well for anybody. On the first one that we walked down, I noticed that the kitchenette was a little bit further from the bedroom and the living area, which in our instance was a little bit of a walk, but for a regular person, it was just right there. The next studio was more of an all-inclusive. It was very clean. They had one that looked onto the courtyard in the center with all of its fountains and flowers, while the other one was secluded, like a parking lot kind of view that looked over the tennis courts and things like that. The one-bedroom was very spacious and very nice. They had very short hallways, so there was not a ton of walking and it's soundproof. You could be in the hallway and not hear any of the other residents' televisions or anything. It was well done."

"We settled on Redwood Retirement Residence, and it’s working out well. My mom has been there sinceJuly, the community is very friendly, and it’s in a wonderful location in downtown Napa. It’s actually pretty convenient. The rooms are a little bit small if you have a studio, so it’s not like you expect a lot. When somebody is in a studio, you’d expect them to have a big closet, so I would say the closet is the problem. The bathroom is large, and because of the earthquake they are doing a whole remodel. She is happy there. The community really bonded together; it was great. They bonded together and help each other through it, and they kept cooking the whole time and feeding everybody. My mom said they had a wonderful beef stew that night for dinner, and she was impressed that they were able to pull it all off. The staff is super nice; my mom actually has had some health issues, and they help me like checking the room making sure she is OK. They have been super helpful and supportive, and they are going to keep an eye on my mom. We also liked it here because this company owns 300 other residences, and she can travel to any of them for free and eat there for free which is kind of a nice little perk if you are on the younger end. They go on trips to wineries and places to San Francisco and stuff like that. "

"We went to The Springs of Napa, and it was very nice. Their room had a full kitchen with a full size refrigerator and stove. It was a little bit more expensive per month. The staff was very good, very nice, very friendly, and very helpful. Their dining room was very nice, and their chairs were a little bigger. They had the same type of activities like the facility where mom was had. The environment was very nice. It was in the top 2 that we looked at in Napa. "

"Atria Tamalpais Creek seemed very nice. It's been around for a while and they did a nice remodel. I was quite impressed. It's an assisted living community, and it also has memory care. I like the location. I can't say that there was something I didn't like about it. The staff seemed fine. They did a good job and I felt very comfortable. If there was something else I wanted to know, I could've found out I'm sure. The rooms were fine. It depends on what size you want to get, a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom, and they were OK. The atmosphere was very much like where I live now, which is you can be by yourself in your apartment or you can join the community and go out into the public spaces. The public spaces were fine. If you were in good condition, you could walk to a small mall. There are restaurants nearby. It's a nice residential street to walk in. If you don't want to go to the main street and get somewhere, you can just walk in the neighborhood, and comfortably seems safe, and that's what I liked about it. It had much more flexibility. They had a couple of rooms where they had activities, but I didn't see anybody doing an activity while I happened to be there. They take people on excursions and things like that. I met about four different people, and they were very personable, very helpful, totally open to questions, and gave good answers to questions as well."

"Deer Park looked nice and clean. I liked this place and it seemed reasonably priced. I saw one room and it had a bathroom, a refrigerator, and a microwave. It looked good. The staff who assisted me was very friendly and very easy to deal with. It was a nice building."

"We visited Friends House. We liked it very much, but one of their major interests is being sure that people behave in a community atmosphere. The rooms are very small. My brother would need some more room to himself for his art, but it was a very nice atmosphere. I like that it was not a fancy place. It felt very homey. It didn't have chandeliers. It was very thoughtfully run. The people there were very thoughtful and kind, and they seemed to really be very dedicated to taking care of the people. He may soon need memory care, too, and they don't offer that there. It was very, very nice. They have a large library, but it's a small community. I think there weren't that many people there. They also have independent living. We didn't investigate that, but we heard from friends that that is a very nice independent living. There are separate small houses on the property. The staff was very good."

"I live just a couple of blocks away from Spring Lake Village, so I know about it. It is great, but it is just really expensive, and the buy-in fee is outrageous. Everything about it is really nice, and you would want to be there, but it is just expensive. They have a nice indoor pool and a nice trail to walk on. They have just totally expanded, so all their units to live in are very modern and beautiful. They are small, but that is true of all retirement communities. The staff all seemed to be really friendly and nice. "

"My apartment at Valley Orchard has been home for over two years and I couldn’t live in a happier place. The staff is extremely caring and there is generally no turnover. Even the high school and college age dining room servers stay employed here until they move out of Petaluma. They know you by name and remember your preferences . There are plenty of extra activities like bingo and bocce ball in addition to musical entertainment, exercise classes, bus trips for shopping, restaurant dining and picnics. But one of my favorite places is the garden featuring raised bed planters, bird feeders, patio chairs and a quiet place to watch the birds. If a shady spot is desired the front porch has lots of comfortable chairs and a view of the water fountain feature. Every apartment has a view of the redwood trees that line the perimeter. The grounds and the interior of the building are well maintained, quiet and peaceful. The food is quite healthy with several choices at each meal and seconds if you are still hungry. I love working on jigsaw puzzles and keep one going on a small table outside the beauty parlor. This place is considered an independent living situation. If you find yourself needing extra help, you can hire care givers just as you would if still living at your home. Dining room meals can be delivered to your door. When you consider the great housekeeping service and the free laundry facilities in addition to the food service, free scheduled bus transportation, planned activities and friendly residents you just can’t beat the reasonable rent. "

"My father has moved into Springfield Place. His room is nice and it has a nice-looking hardwood floor. He's got a little kitchenette, refrigerator, and a nice walk-in shower made for the handicap. It's got handrails around it. The bathroom is large. It's got a nice heat lamp in there. He gets cold a lot, so he just turns that on and it helps out. The lighting is really good in the room. He's on the second floor and he's got big windows that look out into a bunch of trees and stuff. It's a nice room and he's really happy with it. It's plenty big enough for one person. My brother told me he had some minestrone when he went there and he said it was the best thing he ever had in his life. He said the food was great. My dad is a fairly picky eater and he said that the food they have there is really good. They have a morning exercise program for everybody willing to participate. They have a little workout room with some stationary bikes. They have a list that they print out and post at everybody's door to let them know of upcoming activities, what's available, and what they might be interested in. They have a lot of different things for the people in that community. They have musicians come in and live music sometimes. I was there one day when there was a great guitar player. Right now, they're kind of on semi-lockdown because they had a few COVID cases pop up, but they were really on that. They got it under control. It was pretty impressive how they were on to that so quickly. They've been great. The staff is great, easy to talk to, really nice, and very helpful. They made everything a very easy transition. The place is very nice inside. It looks like it's kept very clean. It's a beautiful facility. It feels very spacious and big there. I didn't even realize how big it was in there until I went in and was pretty amazed by how big and open it feels in there. I like the facility. I think my dad's done a little bit of the exercise stuff. They have very reasonable prices."

"The Community here at Rancho de Calistoga is much like most with a very diverse group of people living in a neighborhood. Some are very active in the community and others keep to themselves or participate as much as they want to or not. There is a beautiful "Green" Recreation building with library, game room, large meeting/dinning room with modern kitchen for large gatherings. The pool and hot tub patio are very nice with a BBQ area as well. The exercise room has modern equipment and is available to all residents who choose to use it. There are independent groups created by residents that offer a multitude of activities. Also the local community offerings in the area are vast with cultural opportunities as well as wellness and lifestyle education. To top it off, it is located at the north end of the beautiful Napa Valley. With easy walking or golf cart ride to the historic downtown where restaurants, shopping and additional community activities are available such as those offered at the community art center as well as it is a great place to live. In short it is Rancho de Calistoga is quiet, clean and friendly with a moderate climate; a perfect place to live! "

"Silverado Orchards Retirement Community is in a very nice location and the building's well taken care of. They gave me a very nice tour. The units looked very comfortable and it's in a very safe, secure neighborhood. They had small kitchens with refrigerators and sinks, there was a nice kitchen area in the rooms. The person who gave me the tour was knowledgeable, very polite, and did a very good job of giving me the tour."
