"We used At Home Nursing earlier this year. It was hard for me to find help seven days a week. I asked them if I could get an additional day, but their minimum was a three-hour minimum, and that was way past what I could afford. Even though they originally found me somebody for one hour, they just wouldn't accommodate additional days for anything less than three hours. They did the same kind of service like the other companies, and the people they provided were OK. However, I had an experience with one of them that I didn't find very pleasing. I went to see my mother, and the caregiver sat and just talked to me for an hour and a half. It's OK if she's just being social, and I thought it was nice, but it turned out she charged me for the time. When I found out about that, I was kind of irritated. I called the agency, and they said they have to charge me whenever they're there, from the minute they're there until the minute they leave. The attitude that 'she shouldn't have done that, we won't charge you for that,' never came up. That also kind of grated me that somebody could be that greedy as a caregiver, and they wouldn't consider that being out of hand. I was with them for four months, and they were one of the companies that initially were able to provide a one-hour service. Their hourly rate is OK, but if you need help twice a day, they'll charge you for six hours, and nobody can really afford that -- if you just need help with changing and that sort of thing. I have a neighbor that also uses At Home Nursing, but she's in a different location, and she seems satisfied with them. If you can afford the minimum hours that they require, then I wouldn't say I would not hire them. "

They've been the only organization that has found somebody that could come for hour visits and somebody that could come seven days a week.
