The latter part of their service, the girl that I ended up with was awesome. She was an excellent lady, but I only used them four days a week, four hours a day. The lady that was taking care of my wife was the one that told me I should get her in a care home. She was still using their service up until August of last year, and I used it for about a year and a half before that. They helped me clean the house. They cooked meals for my wife. The latter part, they did help me with mopping and running the sweeper in the house. They did mainly light things. The problem with them was the staff was never the same at the beginning. I'd get somebody one week and another week, somebody else would show up and they'd be there a couple of weeks. It wasn't consistent and I didn't like all that activity in and out of my house."

"The caregiver from Home Instead has been really outstanding. I only have her twice a week for four hours each. She does fill those four hours with everything I need her to do. Because I have a balance problem, the person who comes to my house has to be with me most of the time. Living in San Francisco, it's all upstairs and downstairs to the laundry and garden, so she is able to assist me in the kitchen, in the garden downstairs, in the garage, in our front yard and backyard. She's very thorough and very pleasant to work with. She helps with cleaning and some housework. I'm able to call anytime and they are very good at answering and accommodating, getting the message to whoever it needs to go to, if it's a rescheduling change that type of thing. It does an excellent job of billing my long-term care insurance and I'm always able to call and get some kind of response back."

"I hired Comforcare Senior Services. They had a very harsh management team and they had problems staffing occasionally. I had care for my father eight to ten hours a day and Mom was at home on hospice. My brother who was helping them left to go to the store, and my mom called me and said the caregiver wouldn't give her a glass of water because the caregiver doesn't work for her. I called the agency and talked to the manager and they said they can't do that because they had to do an assessment on Mom and get the paperwork in place first. I had to fire them because of the way they handled it. We had a wonderful caregiver, and it was very sad to lose her. She's a CNA. The billing and the paperwork were good. They helped with all the ADLs, transferring, helping with the bathroom, eating, dressing, and bathing, and we had a PT working with the caregivers."
