"I like where it's located. So I did looked at different places, but I'm not at the point where it would have to be a decision that is needed to be made right away. The only place that really matched for what I wanted was this facility. The staff is fine. I talked to them on the phone and they answered some of the questions I had. They also sent me the information I needed. I talked to a couple of people who know the place; it has a positive reputation. So based on that, I thought of all the places this is the one that I could see myself at. I think they're excellent, they have a lot of compassion, and there are more positive things than negative things compared to other continuing care retirement community. A lot of what I looked at was the location, reputation, and if I could see myself there. That's why I went to visit the place. "

"It was really nice, like a fancy hotel. The place felt light, airy, and calm. They had a lobby, dining room, library, café/bar, game room, and exercise room. The amenities looked nice, but I didn't see people actually using them, except for two people in the game room."

"Villa Marin has been a Godsend to my family member who was in dire straits before moving into the skilled nursing unit. Since her transfer there, she has had exemplary care by the nursing staff. I realize how difficult it can be to work in a skilled nursing facility and be pressed with the demands of so many patients, but the staff, all of them, jump through hoops to provide the best care possible. My family member is happy and feels her move there actually saved her life. If you are considering a move to a skilled nursing facility, do not hesitate to visit Villa Marin as a choice for care. You will never find the perfect care Center, but this place will be the closest you'll ever get. "

"I visited San Francisco Towers, they have extremely good amenities for this field and I can say that they're at the top of the market. I was shown an apartment and a smaller room, and they're bigger than the rooms in other places I've seen. My friend in this community has a 2-bedroom apartment, it's large, and has 2-bethrooms. She's spending a large amount of money for that and she bought in. The smaller ones are also still expensive for me. They have a lot of things for the residents to do, they have people come in and give lectures, and they take people regularly to the symphony, opera, and ballet. They also have groups within the community that do things on their own, so I would say that it's the best. I've had a meal there and the food is excellent."

"The Sequoias is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), with memory care. It's well known in San Francisco; it's been around for 50 years. It's pricey, but the services and other offerings are amazing. I've referred residents there, so I know it well. It's located in Nob Hill, one of the nicest parts of the city--near Union Square shopping. Parking is horrible (expensive garage parking only), but it's close to public transportation. The facility itself is extremely nice and offers a choice of studio apartments, 1 BR, and 2 BR units. All the apartments are huge and all except the studios come with a kitchenette. There are also beautiful garden areas and breathtaking views of the Bay. The staff is there 24 hours, 7 days a week, and they're all licensed in their areas. There are also lots of activities and amenities: - nail care - beauty and barber shops - a full fitness center - gift shop - sewing center - a non-denominational chapel It's also pet friendly, and the food is very good. They have a licensed chef and offer three meals a day, plus something they call their Dining Light program for those who are watching their weight. One other nice plus: They keep about 5 guest suites for residents' family and friends. "
