"Oakmont of Montecito is huge. It is gorgeous. Touring the place was like going to Club Med or something. They have their own movie theater, beauty salon, workout room, personal trainers on staff for fitness, and an aviary with birds in it. The one thing I liked about Oakmont of Montecito is the accommodations. They were like a mini condo. It's got two bedrooms, a den, a private deck, a private laundry, and a full kitchen. It would be more spacious and more accommodating for mom. It was all expensive, but it was beautiful. Also, they offer garages as part of their accommodation. The director was very polished, very knowledgeable, and so compassionate. Their menu was more of a gourmet style. So, it's a little bit fancier. I was given a nice little package with macarons when we finished the tour. Everything about it is top-notch, except that they had private rooms for the memory care residents whereas the other facilities had more of a community feel to it, where they interacted with each other. So, I just felt my dad could get kind of lost and lonely there."

"I went and saw Chateau Pleasant Hill. The staff was really awesome. They spent a lot of time with me, and they really tried to figure out what my parent's needs were. Their room in comparison with the other places that I saw was nice. I thought that they were very accommodating. It was a little bit older and still kind of expensive for what you would get. They had activities like movies, and they had a good amenities. I liked it. I thought they were good. I would recommend it. "

We couldn’t b more satisfied with staff meals and activities. It is helping slow the process down with this terrible disease. We choose Byron Park bc when he needs more care he can stay in his apartment and have a caretaker. We don’t want to go to lock down memory care. Recommend Byron Park."

"Atria Valley View was great, and we liked everything about it. It was wonderful, clean, well-run, and lovely, the rooms were nice, and we looked at the menus and the food seemed to be nice. The person who interviewed us was excellent. They have a big menu, big dining room, and a bistro, and it just seemed perfect. They had tours, shopping, movies, and outings. We could tell that it would be a very nice place. "

"The staff was very nice and their food was good. They had a good cook. They had a lot of activities that were going on there. They had different groups that visit, which I appreciate, and people who brought in comfort dogs (I love dogs). As you go into the main entrance, they have a coffee shop area where they could curate their meals. They've got a nice big fireplace with chairs and couches around it. It was very comfortable."

"The staff at The Ivy Berkeley was nice and professional. The rooms were very clean. The place was very new. I didn't have any issues with that. The patio looked nice and clean. They have rooftop access. We just quickly passed through the dining area because my mom was getting kind of tired, and it was a nice size. They had just finished with their lunch menu, and so the place wasn't clean, but the staff was working on it. There was a gate in the underground parking."

"Our top choice is here. It’s affordably priced; it’s close to where I am and it has nice facilities. The staff seemed good and they had activities. There are a range of services: they have memory care, independent-living and they have very good assisted living. They all go to the same dining hall."

"Belmont Village is brand new, so there were a lot of people during open house. It was kind of hectic and crazy, but my questions were answered. It's a bit pricey, but it looked beautiful. The rooms looked comfortable. The person who showed me around was informative. The dining area looked very nice."

"I toured Lake Park Senior Living. The tour was very nice. Unfortunately, it's a little out of our price range. It was very clean; it was spotless. The people were very friendly. Antoinette was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. We sat down, and she took time with me. She answered all my questions, and she gave me a detailed packet. She even broke down what goes into their facility between assisted care, independent care, and active care. She talked about the various activities that they have there. It was a very positive place except for the pricing. I was told there was an $8,000 community fee, just to move in, and it's not refundable. I guess that's administrative fees and all of that. There is a room where there are tons of televisions, so people can come and watch. Apparently, most gatherings are in this room. They have a piano in the middle, and I think a jazz trio is coming in. It just looked nice that people could get out of their rooms. Also, it is downtown, so you can get anywhere. It's interesting because the building on the outside and inside is mostly white, which surprised me a little. However, the floors and walls were clean. All of it was very well maintained."

"The rooms were of really nice size at Marymount Villa. It gave you an opportunity to be away from home, but mom was able to bring some of her items and felt like she was at home. The staff was very nice and I like that they have 24/hour staff. Everybody there is very friendly. The facility is very clean. They offer activities. They have a calendar where they do certain things, but I can't remember the specifics. I really feel that it is a great facility. It also was the most affordable one. "

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and the views are spectacular. The chef has been there 30 years and the food is delicious with an Italian twist. "I like that it was very clean and modern, and it had a lot of amenities. They have their library, a theater room, a pool, and just lots of options for activities. They do restaurant outings, play bingo, play cards, and arts and crafts. The staff was all so nice too, especially Adrianne. She was the lady I met with. She's amazing. It's assisted living, and we saw a studio and a 1-bedroom apartment. They were both nice."

Concierge Maricel is friendly, welcoming, and consistently helpful. Administrator Avon takes an enthusiastic interest in residents as individuals, celebrates their life accomplishments, and organizes fun experiences. They are the staff members I see most often and they’re always looking out for him. The facility is immaculate. It gives me tremendous peace of mind that Dad calls it his home."
