"I toured Bellara Senior Living. It was nice, very fancy. An experience that you want for anyone senior and transitioning into their later years. They have on-call nurses, and they have everything that you need there, you don't have to go out and get it, very much assisted. Everything is there all at once. You don't have to go anywhere. The staff was nice. They were very welcoming. They just wanted to get to know me and my family and make sure that if we were choosing that place, it would be the right place for us. It's a very new building. They had a bar. They had a bunch of seating areas. They had fancy bathrooms. They had a workout area. They had a whole courtyard where you could sit and talk and grill food. They had a beautiful kitchen that was restaurant-style."

"We toured Landmark Villa, looking for assisted living for my mother, and we liked it. It was a great location and one that met our needs. The people were also very friendly. We liked the community, and my mother liked the older aesthetic of the place, so that's good for her. We also like the friendliness of the staff and how attentive they are to her and her needs."

"I made the fateful decision to engage Heart And Soul Communities II in San Leandro as a hospice domicile for my spouse as they began their transition from hospital to end of life. After my interview, I believed that this was a vocation for the people involved, rather than their career. Afterwards, I was introduced to each of the residents. I could see how happy and well cared for each of them truly was. I rented a large and beautiful room with a view of the park across the street. I never saw such a commodious room offered anywhere else. My spouse’s hospice time at Heart And Soul Communities II was unexpectedly short. We left the hospital on February 11th, 2023, and my spouse passed away in their room at Heart And Soul on February 17th. During that time, my spouse required intensive, around the clock, hands on care, as they left the hospital with a major pressure wound. Staff was absolutely first rate in their expertise. They knew how to keep my spouse clean, and they were otherwise constantly attentive. Constantly. The staff isn’t just expert. They are compassionate and genuinely care about the people they serve. The proprietor is remarkably flexible and willing to help. For this reason alone, I highly recommend you enroll your loved one at a Heart And Soul Community (they are in Oakland as well as San Leandro). With all of the many things I was having to attend to during this turbulent time, including impending funeral arrangements and financial obligations, I never once had to worry about whether my spouse was being looked after, or whether they were receiving the utmost in quality care. The way the establishment is run, this is a given. It was a tremendous burden off my shoulders. The facility itself is a mid century mansion in the San Leandro foothills that has recently been renovated from top to bottom. There is a beautiful backyard, and it is across from park like land. The meals provided were all excellent, in keeping with the overall level of excellence. Heart And Soul Communities made an indelible mark on my life. I trust it to have the same affect upon yours. I also rejoice for the goodness that can still be found in this world, and, specifically, in Oakland and San Leandro at these facilities. Heart And Soul Communities serve a diverse clientele and is friendly to the LGBTQ community."

"I was very pleased with Marymount Villa. The staff was wonderful. As soon as I walked into the door, there was somebody there who greeted me. When I went to each floor, there were members of the staff with the residents and they all greeted me. The room that I saw had 2 beds in there, and I was OK with that. The residents were doing activities while I was there, and some were dancing. Their dining room looked great."

"I toured Carlton Senior Living San Leandro. It was very good. The place was very small. I wasn't even thinking too much because they don't have any private rooms. My friend Orvis has to have a private room in memory care but they don't have any private rooms. Carlton San Leandro is a beautiful place. The staff was nice. Sheila was great and I met a couple of the other staff."

"My mother is in Golden Living Guest Home, LLC. It's a board and care for six people. It's bright and cheerful, and they encourage the people to engage in activities. I haven't had that much contact with the staff, but they seem very nice. I'm very pleased with them. There's a lot of light, and there's a backyard area with trees. They encourage people to walk and the first time I walked in before my mom moved in just to see the place, somebody was tossing a big ball around these people for physical activity. My mom crochets, but they also have her work on a matching game or a jigsaw puzzle. I've been very pleased with them. There are always people around. There are lots of people to socialize with and there are activities. We're paying almost the same as the other place she was at and yet I feel like I get a lot more at this place. The residents do manicures, some of them like to cut hair and pedicures and things like that."

"I went here. It was very nice and very clean. We saw some of the residents, and they looked happy. The person who gave us the tour was really helpful, and he answered all our questions, too. The area was nice. We were sad that we couldn't keep my aunt there. The dining area looked very nice. It looked like they had a library and a beautiful outside area. They had nice grounds, and a lot of the residents were outside that day."

"Brookdale San Ramon is a very beautiful environment. You are surrounded by nature. It's like you're on your vacation. I like the environment, and I think their garden is beautiful. I think it will be very pleasant if you go outside to sit in the garden. The interior is also very beautiful, very wide, and very high. I saw old ladies coming out, and they were neat and very clean to me. That's my overall impression. It is so peaceful and quiet, and I would love to live there in my old age. I love the staff who helped me. They're nice and pleasant. Their calendars mentioned a lot of activities, but I didn't see a lot of people outside, except for two to five old ladies hanging out. It seems that everybody is staying in their room, so that's an impression on me. The common areas are very good and very beautiful. It's very clean."

"I toured Emerald Valley. It's $10000 for the two-bedroom. It's a decorated and luxurious environment. I like it, but I can't afford it. It's a very convenient area, which is a huge difference from the one in San Ramon. It's very easy to go to all kinds of outside environments, and traffic-wise, it is a more convenient location. The lady who introduced me is very good. She did her job very well. The place is like a five-star hotel. It's very bright and very new. The room is very beautiful and better than the other places. It's very high-end. The refrigerator is a large one and new, too."

"I toured Welcome Home Senior Residences-Dublin for my mother. It seemed like they only have a handful of residents like four or six, so, it seems like they kind of do whatever the individual needs. It wasn't a group approach. The house was clean and cozy. I felt like there was a little bit of a trip hazard between the flooring, but it was very small and my mom's pretty stable. There was a little bit of a funny smell in there, too. But they also said they just had the couch cushions cleaned and we had our masks on. So, I don't know if it was just the cleaning solution. The person that gave us the tour doesn't stay there, but she was very good and knowledgeable. The two staff people that were there were quiet, but they seemed efficient, and they seemed present. We only saw one resident and I don't know if the others were just in their room. It doesn't seem like there was much activity going on like in a group home where they can plan for all the residents. If you want a quiet, calm, and just homey atmosphere, I think it was very nice. I might put my mom in more of a group setting because I think she needs more interaction and more inclusion and activity that would be planned. The dining area was just like the kitchen of a home. There was one big table which looked beautiful."

"I toured Ivy Park at Pleasanton. Nicole, the person that I saw, was extremely helpful. It's a beautiful facility. Everything's just wonderful. I felt very special going there and being treated very respectfully and everything. So, I would say that whoever can afford to go to Ivy Park at Pleasanton should check that place out. They showed me everything. They showed me the studios. They showed me the joint units that took me to the memory care unit. They took me every which way. They have wonderful dining rooms, first notch. The people that were in there decorated their tables. They've got a lot of amenities. Every Thursday night they have music that they play, and people can go. They just have everything that you could want."

"My dear friend needed a safe and comfortable to live when her dementia claimed her ability to care for herself. We found the staff knowledgeable, efficient, kind and welcoming. The transition to memory care was much easier than I had anticipated. Her room was comfortable, homey and cozy. The food satisfied her and looked pretty good. The menu was appealing. The dining room and activities were warm and cruise-like. I really think my dear friend thought she was on a vacation or at the country club lunching with the ladies. It's been a great fit for her. The staff was so welcoming and kind. They really cared about her whole person. They treated her kindly and preserved her dignity. They all knew her name. This is as close to being home with 24/7 care that I could find."

"I toured Welcome Home Senior Residence - Pleasanton. It's clean and neat, and it smelled good. The person who gave the tour was nice, they were friendly and open to showing the guest rooms or client rooms. I spoke to a guest there, she was very happy with the staff, and she liked the facility. She thought they were good-humored and she's enjoying her stay there, that's what she told me. It seemed nice, but they didn't have any openings at the time. And that was just an impromptu visit, they were not expecting me, and they're satisfactory."
