"My mother is a resident of Oakmont of Burlingame. I was impressed with the number of staff to the number of people that are living there. There was a very good ratio of staff compared to people living there. The place was clean, they went ahead and offered to help things move in. The staff in general check on her on a daily basis and every couple of hours. They bring her breakfast, because she chooses to have breakfast in her apartment, and then they take her to lunch and dinner and other activities. I check with my mother just about every other day, and she says that she likes it there. The food's good. The staff is wonderful. There's good communication between the staff. I talked to the nurse, left a message for the nurse last week to give me a call, and the nurse called me about two hours later and gave me an update on how my mom's doing. So, we're just very pleased with the overall appearance of the place and her apartment, which is perfect for her. She has a one bedroom; it's kind of an open floor plan and it has a little kitchenette. Then it has a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a shower bench. It has a TV living area, and she has two recliners in there. They were very helpful with our moving in, providing some assistance, and things like that. I viewed the place on Thursday, and they put new carpet in on Monday, and painted over the weekend. There were some touch-ups done on walls and so on. It came in very fresh and clean. It was a good choice. The apartment is very spacious. My mother is on the first floor, and the aisles are very wide. They have a beautiful courtyard outside with picnic tables. There was another sitting area that was covered so that people can go outside. When we were there there were people that were brought outside to have lunch if they wanted. It was very nice to just have different options. My mom goes to bingo, and I think she does a few other activities and exercises every day."

"I visited Sunrise San Mateo. I really liked their memory care unit. The dining area was beautiful; it was all beautiful. The staff was friendly, and everybody who lived there seemed very happy and content. It was very clean. "

"The facility is very clean and spacious with plenty of room for the residents. They try to tailor the meals to what the resident likes and also what they are able to ingest at the same time. The staff is very attentive and caring. There is a loving family atmosphere in the home and my mother was very comfortable with all the staff."

"I toured Cadence Millbrae. It was great. I saw the whole facility. It was nice. The rooms were pretty, and the people and the staff were nice. It had a bed, dressers, and a bathroom. It looked like a home instead of a hospital. It had fake flowers that made it look pretty. I did not evaluate the kitchen that much. I was more concerned with the bed and what kind of bed it was, because my uncle needed an adjustable bed to adjust his head and feet, and they had that, and that's what I liked. Everything was very clean, and there was no dust."

Portola Place is an assisted living facility that is located in beautiful San Mateo CA. Our facility is small and is located in a beautiful home on a quiet residential street. We are also close to Beresford Park and Garden Center, Hillsdale Mall, and the 25th Ave. shopping area. We here at Portola Place offer a homey atmosphere with many amenities. Our senior citizens can enjoy sitting outside on our deck or front porch; however, if they prefer they can sit together and socialize in the living room or simply watch TV. We do accept the elderly who may not quite qualify for independent living but need a slightly higher level of senior care. Residents have their own bedroom and bathroom. Our meals here at Portola Place are prepared in our own kitchen. We use fresh ingredients as much as is possible. We try to make their senior living experience as enjoyable as possible. Birthdays and holidays are celebrated, weekly game events are held, and the s taff arranges walks to the park or for the residents to go shopping on a regular basis. We pride our staff on being sensitive to the individual needs of each resident; those who have relatives that are not nearby receive more encouragement to exercise and to join other residents on outings. "My dad has been settled for several months now, so he's fine, and he is in Golden Age. I'm very happy with them. They take excellent care of my dad. He is very happy there. I don't have any complaints at all. He has a bedroom. Golden Age is a home; it's a private home. I think there are five bedrooms, and each resident has their own bedroom. They've been there for over 20 years. There are two caregivers at all times. Mostly, the folks that are there are elderly, they're in their 90s, or they're disabled, and they can't do any activities. They have TV, they have books, they have all sorts of things. They can go outside in the backyard and on the patio when it's nice outside. For the most part, these folks that are in there are bedridden, if you will, so it is hard for them to do activities. The rooms are fairly large."

"I went to Atria at Foster Square. I thought it was very pleasant, the people were very nice, they tried to be helpful. There's regulations on at the moment, which make it difficult for everybody with the COVID and all that kind of stuff, but they were very nice. The rooms were not too spacious, they were quite small, they were clean, and they showed me the dining room. Normally they have a buffet breakfast, but because of what's going on, at the moment they bring your food to your room 'cause they want to be safe."

"There were a lot of things to do here. The facility was fine and there was nothing wrong with. In fact, my daughter's mother-in-law was there and she is quite happy with the facility. Everybody was fine. "

"I am the conservator for 2 female residents. From the fist telephone contact to todays the communications between the staff and myself and my clients have been first class. The assessment program and the move in during the pandemic has been very smooth. The personal and appropriate attention by the executive and caregiving staff has been excellent. Better than others that I have worked with over 30 years. The apartments are very efficient and the services again excellent. Not intrusive -just right. Activities are limited during the pandemic but set up for safety of the residents. I highly recommend this residence -"

"I went more than a month ago. So far the senior citizens are really happy about the place. Once you enter, they have different rooms, most of them don't need a lot of help, just their medications, and cleaning of the room. They have the dining room area, an area where they have lots of games. They have a living room where they go for tea or breakfast. They have fun having different games. They have a music room, also libraries. Someone is attending to the snacks. The staff is good. I thought that they were attentive, it seems like they know each other, and also the seniors are really happy with their service. Even the outside of the facilities is nice and clean."

"We chose Peninsula Reflections. I liked the place. It was very nice. The room was big and a single for my partner. I felt warm when we went there and talked to the people. The staff seemed very nice and knowledgeable. They knew what they were doing, especially the one in the admin who was very friendly and made my partner feel good. The menu looked OK; however, my partner needed everything blended. They had a big room for activities with a big TV. They had karaoke and other singers who came by to sing. The residents seemed to enjoy that. They had a quiet room, which was a small room with a TV. They seemed very cooperative. When you asked something, they were willing to help you. They had a doctor who seemed very nice."

"I toured it for my aunt. It was nice and clean. The staff member who helped me was really good at explaining things and her verbal communication was good. The residents and the staff were friendly. I saw people sitting in an open area, and they were all mingling together. I loved the one-bedroom and the studio room that I saw. If I had to pick a place for myself, it would definitely be one on my list. They had a lot of activities available like music entertainment and shopping on Fridays. They had a beauty salon, a barber shop, and a lot of other places where the residents could do things."
