I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The rooms are dirty and smell of urine. They are understaffed most of the time with poorly trained staff. Due to lack of training, a resident was dropped during a transfer from bed to commode which required an ER visit. Even after she dropped the resident, the staff member continues to be lazy and cares very for the residents. If you try to talk to the anyone in management, they will not return your call. Waaaaay overpriced for the lack of quality care. Resident is left in her wet depend throughout the night and day which causes UTIs. No bath in over 3 months! There are more options available. Choose where else!

My dad moved into Cogir of North Bay Senior Living. We've had a positive experience. We're happy with the place. They're taking care of my dad really well. They have all the meals, medicine, take care of medicine, and all the nursing. Everybody is really nice. They do housekeeping, laundry, everything. They have restaurant-style dining with different options every day. We haven't done any of them, but they have a big list of activities, quite a bit of activities every day, and they change often. They do movies, games, and trips to like a casino and to a museum, and things like that. They also take you to your doctors' appointments.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a resident of Cogir of North Bay Senior Living. We have cable and Wi-Fi. We have three meals a day and we have light house cleaning. We have transportation on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, and Fridays are for medical only. We have lots of activities and table games. We also go on outings once a month for lunch and once a month for dinner. There's an activity for this weekend coming up. They're going to San Francisco to have dinner at a restaurant over there, and they will take a ferry. So, that ought to be fun. We have bingo three times a week. I have a one-bedroom, kitchen, living room, and bathroom, but no stove in the kitchen because meals are cooked on the premises. There's a walk-in shower, which is much easier for everybody to get around in. The value is comparable to what we would spend if we had our own place. I ended up saving a couple of hundred from the one that we have there.

I'm living in Cogir of North Bay Senior Living for six months now. I don't know if I would recommend it to anybody, but it's okay and you can get what you need. Right now, we're in a COVID lockdown. Somebody caught COVID. The rooms are average size. If you order the food, it takes about an hour to get the food. The menu needs to be revised or they need to replace the chef. Food is not good. Most of the people don't eat the food here. We go to the store and buy our own groceries, even though food is paid for in our rent. For activities, they play senior volleyball with the balloon. They have movies daily. They used to have some kind of church service on Sunday. They go on planned activities somewhere usually weekly. They go to a shopping center three days a week. Cleanliness is average. It's good, but there's nothing fancy about the place. The staff members are not friendly with their clients. They can improve their food and their staff. They can improve their overall ability to get things done. They drag their feet trying to get things done.

My brother moved to Cogir of North Bay Senior Living. I like it, my brother has progressed extremely well there. His apartment is well-designed, it's easy and accessible for him to get to his bedroom, to the little living room area, and also to the bathroom and the kitchen. So the floor plan is ideal for him. The way he's progressed, I think it's a little pricey but well worth it. The staff has been excellent. They've been very kind and very helpful, and one of the reasons he has progressed so well is because of the care that they've given. The facility is very clean. Usually, when you go to some places there's a rank odor, and you don't find that there. It's pleasant, you're gonna have some odor but it's not overwhelming and it's not an in-your-face type of odor, it's just an odor that shows that people live there, it's not foul. He seemed to like their food, they have a menu and you can pick what you want from the menu.

I visited this facility

I did a tour of Cogir of North Bay Senior Living. It's very clean, and it's across the street from a hospital, which is important. It appears safe. The staff were friendly. It seems like a good place. They have movie night, so they have a space where they show a movie and there's a community room. They have vans and busses for transportation and outings. They have the community room and they do allow pets, so it's pet friendly. The cafeteria was nice. Some of the residents who I met were friendly and they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

We chose Cogir of North Bay because it was a smaller facility. My mom could be on the first floor right near the lobby, so it was easier for her to get around. The upkeep of the place was fine. It's just the way where it's situated, it did not allow a lot of outside movement like she could have had at her former community. I think the staff was very cooperative and patient with her. Even if she created issues, they were still very patient. Her room was very good. The size was very good, very adequate for the needs of a senior. I found their service to be good. I found the director, as well as the person over at the medication, were very good about communicating with me. I could reach them just about any time. It was a smaller facility, and it's close to medical care like hospitals.

This facility has gone through so many different owners in the last ten years, it is hard to track! The last one who bought this facility, Cogir, tends to be more communicative to the relatives of the residents. A few key points to share: 1. Their billing system is antiquated and you cannot pay your bill online. 2. Additional services are a la carte - for each and every service you need to pay ABOVE your standard room rate. Please budget for that! 3. Staff turn over is bad too. Overall staff seems unhappy and complains to the residents. 4. The food is below average on most days, in both taste and quantity. The main meal is served at lunch time with a small offering at dinner time. 5. The residents need to go outside the facility, through a very heavy gate - not automated - to get to the smoking area. It is both unsafe, too far for most to walk, and not a viable option for most. 6. The facility has been upgraded over the last year, new paint, new pictures, new lighting. The front office has a nice open feeling and the dining room is next to the nicely landscaped courtyard. I was originally attracted to this facility due to the all day dining option, fresh cookies baked everyday in the lobby and the food in 2008-2009 was fabulous - I couldn't believe it! The lady who ran the kitchen was a "real" chef!

As a twenty seven year RN whose mother is at North Bay Retirement Center during these difficult times of Covid-19, I have been so happy with the care provided. They have been proactive and transparent. I have felt that my mother was as safe as humanly possible. I was even happy when she complained a little on how strict they were with social distancing. The place is well kept, the staff is friendly. My mother has been there a shorter time 6 months, but I have had zero complaints. Thank you to the staff at North Bay, true Heroes.

I visited this facility

It is clean and comfortable. I think my mother will enjoy being there. I like the apartment too. It is in good shape. I saw a 1-bedroom and a studio. Both rooms have kitchens, but no stove. There is a full-size refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink. The dining room is clean. It has a nice, light environment. Overall, I like the customer service of all the employees, particularly the coordinator who showed me the apartment and kept in touch with me. Working with them has been great.

It is a 5-star. The rooms were very nice. It is great and on top of the list. I am trying to get my mom in. They had bingo, transportation to visit places, and barbecues. The people were very nice.

It was fine except that it was geared more toward assisted living and my father-in-law is still very independent at 95. He is still driving his car and goes to the casino regularly. The care schedule was good, but it was not a good fit for him.

My mother is in here. Everybody is very helpful and caring, and my mother is more engaged and happier. She is in a one-bedroom apartment with a little kitchen area with a microwave and a nice-sized bedroom with a walk-in closet. It works for her needs. There’s a lot of activities that I’ve seen a lot of people participating in. I’ve eaten there a few times, and the food is perfectly fine with good variety.

What I saw, I liked very much. That would have been a choice if I needed more assistance. I like the friendliness and the facility itself. The bedrooms were a little bigger, and they had a full-force air heating and conditioning. I was happy with everybody.

I have some friends living here. The facility was OK. The rooms were good; however, I think the rooms were better in the other facility I visited.
